This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC is being relisted with an adjusted reserve after the previous auction on The MB Market. The coupe is finished in Brilliant Red Metallic (525) over Beige Leather (205) and is powered by a 4.5-liter M117 V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power sliding sunroof, central locking, air conditioning, power windows, an automatic antenna, and an aftermarket but period correct Alpine head unit. Recent maintenance includes an oil change, valve cover gaskets, fan clutch, cooling system refresh, catalytic converter, fuel system refresh, rear sway bar end links, center drag links, and much more. Now showing just over 92k miles, this 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC is offered for sale by the seller in Nashville, Tennessee with service records dating back to 2001 and a clean Tennessee title.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Red Metallic (525) with chrome trim tracing the beltline, bumpers and mirrors. Exterior equipment includes a power sliding sunroof, an automatic antenna, front fog lamps, heat-insulating glass and an electrically-heated rear window. No signs of body rust or damage are currently present on the body of the vehicle other than some paint imperfections noted on the hood. The rear glass is showing some glazing delamination.
The factory 14” Bundt wheels are fitted with new BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 205/70 on all four corners. Dual-circuit power assisted disc brakes are fitted on both front and rear axles. A full-size spare can be found mounted below the trunk floor. New Bundt wheels were fitted this year along with new center caps. Rear sway bar end links were also done this year and a newer center drag link has been fitted. Brakes are reported by a specialty shop to have 50% life left. Front subframe bushings are seen to be worn.
The cabin is trimmed in Beige Leather (205) with matching beige carpeting and floor mats. Both front seats are manually adjustable and fold forward to provide access to the second row. Interior appointments include heating and air conditioning, a dash-mounted analog clock, power windows front and rear, a second row folding center armrest and an aftermarket Alpine head unit. A new driver window regulator has been fitted in 2024. A complete R134a retrofit kit was done two-thousand miles ago in 2002 including a new compressor, dryer, belts, and switches. In 2024, the system was evacuated and charged again and a remanufactured climate control servo amplifier was installed.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently shows just over 92k miles.
This C107 is powered by a 4.5-liter M117 V8 which is factory rated for 222 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Recent maintenance performed in early 2024 by the previous owner include an engine oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new plug wires, coolant, radiator, fuel tank, fuel pump, injectors, fuel filters, fuel pump check valve, battery and cable ends, thermostat, and they topped off all fluids. Other items included with the sale are the full size spare tire, service records dating back to 2001, a comprehensive mechanical refresh in February of 2024, original jack, and matching floor mats. This 450SLC is now offered for sale in Nashville, Tennessee with a clean Tennessee title. A lien on the title will need to be satisfied prior to transfer.

@Flipper wheel pulls as a result of the steering box, as mentioned in the post. No front damage ever to the car. It was a weekend cruiser for the previous owner, a collector, and as a result the maintenance records span a large period of time. It was owned by a classics enthusiast (old rolls's and bentley's and merc's) and he had this car restored for a friend's wife before she passed. after he re-took possession, I bought it from him.
Pretty SLC. Looks to have an issue with the steering wheel showing a bias pull to the right with the vehicle going straight. Any knowledge of prior damage to the front suspension? Also, much of the maintenance/repair receipts are over 20 years old. Was the vehicle in long-term storage? History of the car would be useful to prospective buyer. Thanks.
