This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Anthracite Gray Metallic (172) over Gray Leather (278) and power is provided by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a folding black soft top, a paint matched removable hardtop, fog lights, factory Becker Mexico Grand Prix radio, electric windows, central locking, and automatic climate control. Now showing just over 63k miles, this R107 is now offered by the selling party out of Ball Ground, Georgia with the owner's manual, new soft top, new seat covers, stamped service booklet, hardtop, one key, one hardtop key, 2 ignition keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Connecticut title.
The car is finished in Anthracite Gray Metallic (172) and includes a paint-matched removable hardtop along with a folding black soft top. Both tops present in good condition with no major flaws with the black soft top being redone four years ago. Additional exterior features include fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accents along the bumpers, windows, and belt line of the car. The body was one small piece of corrosion on the bottom corner of the passenger door that’s pictured in the gallery. Detailed photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery. There is some paintwork noted by the seller in the walk around video. The car was painted four years ago in the original color by the owner’s private restoration shop out of Germany.
The factory 15” Gullideckels are on each corner of the car and are mounted with 205/65 Uniroyal tires with 2014 date codes all the way around. The car was factory-equipped with power steering, fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
The interior is upholstered in Gray Leather (278) and shows matching carpets, door cards, and center console. Interior appointments include a Becker Grand Prix head unit stereo, electric windows, central locking, and automatic climate control. Burl wood trim accents the center console and dash. The wood shows almost no fading and only one light crack in the veneer from the shifter bezel to the passenger power window switch. The dashboard does exhibit splits and cracks. There is a small split in the dash at the passenger defroster vent and one beginning where the instrument cluster binnacle beets the dash. The floor mats are missing from the car. The seats have been recovered by the owner’s restoration shop out of Germany with quality leather hides.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows just over 63k miles original miles. The needles are orange and show little UV fading.
The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed 722.3 automatic transmission. While the car spent some time up north, it shows very little underside corrosion on the chassis or body. Some hardware and the exhaust does have corrosion detailed in the underside pictures seen in the gallery below. Recent services done in preparation of the sale have been spark plugs, fuel filter, and fuel pump
The Carfax lists registration in Massachusetts and Connecticut and importation out of a dock in the Netherlands. This is where the car went overseas for some light restoration work in Germany. Its locations line up with the stamped service books included with the car. Linear mileage hits are seen on the Carfax that also line up with the service book. Now showing just over 63k miles, this R107 is now offered with a paint matched hardtop, new soft top, stamped service booklet, recovered seats, one hardtop key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Connecticut title.
The seller has included the following videos:
Anthracite is such a pretty color on these R107s, isn’t it? While most people associate these cars with spring and summer cruisers, we really like a SL in the winter. Bolt on your hardtop and you have a two door coupe at your disposal. With a small interior space, the heat will melt you into a puddle on the flood boards and the cabin is cozy and romantic with the dim amber glow of the instrumentation. This 560SL is an early one and shows in nice condition with a desirable paint color. These are relatively affordable classic roadsters that we’re always excited to see new owners hopping into. With the manual soft top (this one being in excellent condition) there’s no top hydraulics to worry about to boot making them cheap to run. Once they start reaching 130k miles, that’s when they require some top end love. With the low miles of this car, it’s a get in and drive scenario.

@Goldy Odometer gears will be fixed.
@Stuttgart_Steel OK Does this mean the odometer has been fixed and functioning?
I just had a wonderful chat with the owner of the car and I have more background information on this R107. This car has been in his collection for about a decade. The thing to keep in mind with him is he buys and collects R107s because he loves them -- not to sell, or to flip, but because they are his comfort food. He likes driving them, maintaining them, appreciates the engineering, and most importantly, loves that Geiger styling. This 560SL was one of about 35 in his collection. He's displayed these cars in his showrooms in Europe and the Middle East and has dwindled his collection down to about 11 R017s now, selling the other across the globe to countries like Kuwait, Netherlands, Germany, and Japan to longtime collectors. W111s and R107s are his bread and butter and like to have the best examples. He's a true Mercedes-Benz collector and is deeply in love with the brand much like I am, which is why we get along so well and am happy to help move some of his cars through this great platform. Again, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I hope the backstory helps paint a more complete picture!
Two quick things as the auctions comes closer to ending: 1) When the upholstery work was done in Germany during its refresh, the seats were redone in MB-Tex. 2) We took the car out for a spin today to make sure it was happy and healthy before the auction ends and we saw the odometer gears broke during the drive. They get waxy and oily as they age and the teeth snap off. Luckily it's $25 to fix and about an hour of time. Thanks for the bids so far and I'll get the climate control video put up by the fine folks of MB Market.
The listing has been updated to show 2 keys included.
@mdrei We confirmed the climate control works as intended. I’ll be making a video on it after work and getting it posted. We also found a second key!
Underside photos have been added to the gallery.
Along with the ACC video/confirmation of it working, I'm going to get undersides uploaded here soon. Thanks for the early bids everyone!

Hey everyone! Welcome to the auction of this really nicely spec'd 560SL! I'll be around to answer any questions and aid in helping you through the auction. The write-up that The MB Market provided covers the story of the car. This is out of the Mercedes-Benz collection in North Georgia that I'm helping liquidate for my very good friends. It did go overseas for paint work and light restoration work out of his shop in Germany. Thanks for looking! @mdrei We are all snowed in down here in Atlanta, so I'll get over to the warehouse and get some video/answers for you in the next few days. The car has been converted to R134a. You can see the updated fittings in picture #271. I'll make sure to check all the vent operations of the ACC.

Can you please share if the climate control works as designed, meaning heat and air and all ducting? Has it been converted to 134a refrigerant? Thank You.
