This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was first delivered by Mercedes-Benz of Orlando, Florida where it remained until 1997 when it was purchased by the current seller in Arizona. In 2000 the owner moved to Maryland with the SL and drove it on weekends as a recreational vehicle. It’s been kept in a climate controlled garage and has never been driven in winter weather. This example is finished in Arctic White (147) over a Medium Red Leather (277) and accented with a Black soft top. Power comes from a 5.5-liter M117 V8 paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a paint-matched removable hard top, power windows, cruise control, central locking, front facing fog lamps, and a spare set of original OEM wheels. This R107 displays 59,780 original miles on the odometer and is offered by the second owner with two complete sets of keys including original key sleeves, binders showing complete service receipts, ownership records, parts receipts, and miscellaneous sales literature, all factory manuals, four car and top covers, a complete hard top storage winch, a clean Carfax, and a clean Maryland title in the owner’s name.
The bodywork is finished in Arctic White (147) and comes with matching lower cladding and painted hardtop. The plastic windows on the Black soft top are clear and present in good condition as detailed in the gallery below. The U.S. spec headlight housings are clear as well and front fog lights are mounted below the bumper. OEM chrome-finished bumper guards and trim pieces are all present and detailed in the gallery below. All the original stamped factory glass is present on this R107 including the hardtop rear window with integrated defrost function. The owner notes a small discolored spot in the paint about the size of a quarter on top of the left front fender. OEM mud flaps have been installed with clips to avoid any drilling. The body and chassis are noted as rust and corrosion-free.
Currently mounted on the car are a set of aftermarket 16” split-spoke wheels wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact tires. Unused and unmounted refinished 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels measuring 15x7 on all four corners will be included in the sale and are shown in the gallery below. An original full-size spare wheel and tire are shown in the trunk. Two sets of original center caps will be included.
The cabin is trimmed in Medium Red Leather (277) across the seats, door cards, head rests, armrest, and lower dashboard. The upper dashboard is original and free from any cracks. Original Medium Red carpets remain in place and good condition. The floor mats have been protected by rubber all-weather floor mats. Burl Walnut veneer adorns the center console and remains original to the car and free from any cracks or blemishes. Interior features include automatic climate control with R134a converted air conditioning, cruise control, central locking, power windows, and a detachable wind deflector. The original Becker Grand Prix head unit is installed and operational as is the power antenna. An original first aid kit is included in the sale and pictured in the gallery. This SL is hard wired for a radar detector to be mounted near the rearview mirror.
The digital odometer shows 59,780 original miles. Instrumentation includes VDO gauges featuring a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and an analog odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, oil pressure, fuel economy, and an analog clock. The gauges are trimmed with chrome rings and feature electronic warning lights along the base of the cluster.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired with a 722.3 automatic four-speed transmission. The owner has kept complete service and parts records in a spreadsheet and included binder. Fluid changes have been performed and documented regularly and all repairs have been made using OEM MB parts. Preventatively, the timing chain guides and tensioners were replaced in the last 1000 miles. In September of 2020, a new battery was installed. In addition to the included records and receipts, the following documentation is included:
This R107 displays 59,780 original miles on the odometer and is offered by the second long-term owner with two complete sets of keys including original key sleeves, binders showing complete service receipts, ownership records, parts receipts, and miscellaneous sales literature, various extra parts including factory wheels, a clean Carfax, and a clean Maryland title in the owner’s name.

Note for buyer: All of the documentation, covers, parts, and extras are carefully packed in the car. The 15” Gullideckel alloy wheels are separately packed in four double-wall cardboard wheel boxes, to be picked up with the car. If the buyer wants to have the car shipped, I can provide help on transport logistics. Doug (seller)

I thought it might be helpful for me to list some of the extras that come with the car. Tools: o Factory jack and lug wrench. o Original handles to release the top. Also, aftermarket polished stainless-steel spoon-shaped handles, which are easy to use and stay attached to the soft-top release posts. Extras: o Mercedes optional First Aid Kit (never used or opened) and holder. o Mercedes optional folding windscreen/wind deflector and storage bag. This is mounted behind the seats, for turbulent-free top-down driving (my wife loved it). o Covers: - ’Stormweave’ Evolution 4 car cover, from California Car Covers. A thick, padded cover that I used in the garage, but it is water and dust resistant. - Cover for the cockpit when the convertible top is down. - Cover for the convertible top, when it is up. - Cover for hardtop, when it’s off the car. - Pillow roll, to protect the rear window from creasing when the convertible top is lowered. o Spare KE-Jetronics Engine Control unit. Purchased and stored as a back-up, but never used. o Some additional MB new spare parts. o Winch system and rack for raising/lowering the hardtop off/on the car. Makes easy work of installing the hardtop, and efficient storage of the top when it is off. o License plate frame 'Mercedes Benz Club of America’. I’ve been an MBCA member since purchasing the car. o Mercedes flag (3’ x 5’). o A full tank of non-ethanol gas. Doug (seller)

@SamSl There have never been any oil leaks. The air conditioning system was converted from R-12 to R-134A in January of this year. The process was done by an auto a/c shop. As I recall, it involved removing and flushing the R-12, replacing the R-134a port adapters, port caps, oil, pressure switches, hoses, R134a accumulator/dryer, and adding a retrofit label. It provided nice cold air when used last summer, and when checked a couple weeks ago. Doug
@Doug560SL Any oil leaks ? When was the R134 conversion done and what did the process include? Thx

Thanks, MJamison. It has received good care. It's been a great car, and I'm sorry to be selling it. We are down-sizing, and I have been selling special cars I’ve owned for many years. Others have found good new homes, and I hope this one will, too! Doug
Impressively maintained example!

I received a question about the location of the car. The description indicates that I purchased the car in Arizona, and I have lived in Maryland for many years. Not long ago, I moved the car to our home in Naples, Florida, and that's where the car resides now. As stated, it's been in a climate-controlled garage. If the car needs to be shipped to a buyer, I can help with transport arrangements. Thanks, Doug (seller)
