This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E was originally ordered for the Canadian market and was imported into the United States when the current seller purchased the car in 2001. Finished in Black (040) over Anthracite Leather (271), this 500E is powered by a 5.0L M119 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The car features a facelift update with a later model hood, grille, and headlights. Records since 2001 are included noting a timing chain replacement in 2021 and an updated wiring harness. Equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, fog lights, 17″ alloy wheels, Automatic Slip Control, power-adjustable and heated front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Becker Grand Prix stereo. This 500E is being offered for sale in Boalsburg, PA with 131k miles, two factory keys, extensive service records since 2001, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The body is finished in Black (040) with matching painted chrome and lower body cladding. The car was previously repainted from it's original Black Pearl Metallic when the facelift update was done which includes a 94/95 year model hood, grille, and headlights. Equipment includes fog lights, headlight wipers, powered sunroof, a roof spoiler, trunk spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. The 500E comes fitted with factory flared front and rear fenders along with widened bumpers and cladding to match compared to a standard W124.
Aftermarket 17" CZ alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin Energy tires measuring 235/50 on all four corners. The 500E featured Porsche-tuned suspension with a lower ride height than contemporary standard W124 models and also required a wider track for better handling.
The cabin features front and rear sport seats upholstered in Anthracite Leather (271) which is also continued on to each door card. Burl wood trim accents the dashboard, center stack in the front and rear, and door panels. Equipment includes a Lorinser wood steering wheel, power-adjustable and heated front seats, Mercedes-Benz carpet floormats protected by rubber all-weather mats, an electric rear roller blind, automatic climate control, and a Becker Grand Prix stereo. The seller notes a 5" strip along the door sealing rubber that is missing.
The four-spoke upgraded Lorinser steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 160mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows just over 131k miles. The original gauge cluster was in kilometers from where it was originally delivered in Canada. When imported, the kilometers to miles conversion was done accurately with a matching odometer in miles.
The 5.0-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Complete service records since the seller's acquisition in 2001 are included in the sale and include a timing chain replacement in 2021. Notably, the wiring harness was updated in 2013 when the car had 115,043 miles. The seller notes a small seepage from the power steering return hose at the lower rear clamp and an intermittent pause when upshifting from second to third gear that only happens occasionally. Underbody pictures are viewable in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists linear mileage updates since new. This 500E is now offered with 131k miles and includes two factory keys, complete service records since 2001, factory literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

Welcome to the final day of the auction for my 500E. Whoever gets the car today is getting a very solid car. I remember when I first bought the car, I flew to Vancouver to pick it up and drive it back to PA myself. In Montana, I came upon a 10-mile stretch of open flat interstate and decided to see what the car would do. After a short distance, the speedometer needle was past 160mph and still climbing. I backed off satisfied that the car would do what it should with no fuss. This is the fastest I’ve ever gone in an automobile. This car has made all of my travels in it very enjoyable and hope to see it go to a fellow enthusiast who will continue to care for the car the same way I have. Good luck to all!

Regarding the odometer, I don't think so. They were exchanged at a Mercedes dealership and they may have kept it. However, I can check my residual parts box.
Do you still have the original odometer?

@mavche Thanks.
@W124ONLY 1) I do not have the original wheels. 2) I don't know why the initial owner repainted it. He made a number of modifications, I guess an all-black car with no chrome was one of them. The paint job is extremely good.

1) Do you have the Original 500E Wheels? 2) Do you know why the entire car was re-painted? Was that done under your ownership and if so, how is the new paint job?
