This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Designo Launch Edition is registered in California with previous registrations shown in Ohio and Texas, where it was sold new. Previously sold through The MB Market in 2023, the winning bidder did not follow through with the purchase through no fault of the seller. Exclusive to the Launch Editions, this example is finished in Designo Silver (029) over a Black Leather (201) interior and powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional features include Active Body Control suspension, a retractable hardtop, Bi-xenon headlamps, COMAND with navigation, and a Bose audio pilot sound system. The most recent service includes a complete fluid flush in 2022 and the Carfax report shows regular maintenance along with annual emissions testing. This SL500 shows 65k miles on the odometer and is now offered by the seller with factory literature, an included Carfax report, one factory key, and a clean California title.
Launch Edition examples were all exclusively finished in Designo Silver Metallic (029) paint and options were standardized to include Bi-xenon headlamps, a power retractable hardtop, front and rear fog lights, fender air vents, and dual exhaust outlets. The 18” five-spoke wheels were standard for the Launch Edition and are wrapped in 255/40 front and 285/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires. Braking is handled by vented disc brakes at all four corners. The car also features Active Body Control suspension as well as an Electronic Stability Program.
The cabin is trimmed in Black leather (201) and features Burl wood accents across the door cards, center console, and steering wheel. Amenities include heated and ventilated multi-contour seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, COMAND with navigation, Designo-embroidered floor mats, and a Bose audio pilot sound system.
The Burl wood trimmed steering wheel frames a digital display with a 160mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and indicators for coolant temperature and fuel level. Multifunction displays are controlled by buttons mounted to the steering wheel and the digital odometer indicates 65,694 miles.
This 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine was factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The most recent service includes a complete fluid flush in 2022 and the Carfax report shows regular maintenance along with annual emissions testing.
The included Carfax report shows linear mileage updates, five owners, and four service history records since new. This SL500 is now offered by the seller with factory literature, one factory key, and a clean California title.

Last 2 hours. Want to share with everyone that I owned a few of these r230 in the past and this one is by far the nicest, most of them have some interior rattle and harsher riding suspension, this unit drives like new with no rattles or creaks and rides super smooth. With the flush of abc hydraulic system with new fluid it rides even better. The body is in perfection condition with no scratches nor dings. The roof liner is beautiful Alcantara. I will regret selling this beauty. It drives like a German muscle car. Lot of power and deep exhaust note. Thanks for the bid tsaracco. This vehicle will sell. We scheduled to bring the car in this week to have the ABC fluid flushed prior to delivery to new buyer.@gkgdc the carfax showed a minor incident in front of the car, i have no details on that since it was before my ownership in July 2022. I examined the car and can not spot any visible damage or repairs. I don't have any of the service records reported on the carfax. The car sits fine.
