This RENNtech-modified 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG was originally sold through Mercedes-Benz of Palm Beach to RENNtech founder Hartmut Fehyl and registered to RENNtech as a corporate vehicle in Florida. The car was built by RENNtech as a SEMA show car to showcase available modifications for the W219 chassis upon the first year of launch. Feyhl owned and drove the car through 2009 and added approximately 30k miles during his ownership. Finished in Green-Black Metallic (189) over Java AMG Leather (284), this AMG is powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter M113K V8 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently shows 61k original miles. Factory features include bi-xenon headlamps, heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control, factory COMAND, and a power-closing decklid. In addition, this car has been modified by RENNtech and now boasts more than $30k in RENNtech modifications including an upgraded RENNtech intercooler system, crank pulley, headers, throttle body, ECU tune, carbon fiber airbox, carbon fiber rear diffuser, V2 lowering module, camber bushings, toe links, Brabus-branded Alcon brakes, and various interior upgrades including carbon fiber trim and steering wheel. The car is now being offered by the seller with documented recent service, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a RENNtech Certificate of Authenticity signed by Feyhl, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title.
The exterior is finished in Green-Black Metallic (189) and features AMG styling including sculpted bumpers, side skirts, a rear decklid spoiler, and dual twin-tipped exhaust. A RENNtech carbon fiber diffuser accents the rear of the car between the AMG exhaust tips along with carbon fiber mirror caps. Additional exterior features include a sunroof, bi-xenon headlights with curve illumination, and an AMG bodykit with sculpted bumpers and skits. The seller notes a couple small door dings and two inoperable keyless entry door handles. The body is accident-free as noted by the included Carfax and all glass remains original.
Staggered multi-piece AMG 19” wheels are fitted and wear new Continental tires measuring 255/35 up front and 285/30 in the rear. The chrome 2-piece wheels show only a small blemish on one of the wheels as noted in the gallery below. Tucked behind the wheels are Brabus-branded Alcon brakes. The car is lowered on factory air suspension using RENNtech's V2 lowering module.
In the cabin, the seats, shift knob, and door cards are trimmed in Java AMG leather (284) and accented with custom carbon fiber interior trim in place of wood veneer across the center console and dashboard. The factory steering wheel has been replaced with a matching alcantara and carbon fiber flat-bottom wheel displaying contrasting stitching. Factory COMAND remains in place and functional. The trim plate above the double-DIN head unit shows some scratches and the seller notes a replacement has been ordered which will be included in the sale. The COMAND display is noted to show a dead pixel but does not affect functionality. RENNtech-stitched floor mats are shown and included with the car.
The sculpted RENNtech leather and alcantara steering wheel frames white gauges featuring a 200-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and AMG-branded analog clock. Additional fuel and temperature gauges flank the cluster while the digital odometer can be seen at the base of the speedometer showing 61k miles. Additional gauges within the LCD display show COMAND features, trip functions, and various settings for vehicle settings. The digital LCD screens present as they should and show no signs of de-pixelation or fading.
The original 5.4-liter M113k V8 has been modified with a RENNtech intercooler system, crank pulley, headers, throttle body, ECU tune, and a carbon fiber airbox. This example is now rated at 588 horsepower and 616 lb-ft of torque. The original 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission has been replaced with a new rebuilt unit in October 2021 by the seller. Other recent maintenance includes the SBC recall, a new air spring in the rear left, and new inner and outer tie rod end links. Recent maintenance receipts can be seen in the gallery.
The car is now being offered by the seller with documented recent service, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a RENNtech Certificate of Authenticity signed by Feyhl, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title.
A thorough video provided by the seller shows a full walk around, interior tour, cold start, and driving footage of the car. An additional video of the exhaust and a drive away has been added.
It’s rare that original RENNtech-modified cars change hands publicly. It’s even more rare to find an example with an accompanying note from RENNtech founder Hartmut Feyhl reminiscing over personally adding mile after mile on one of those few examples and enjoying every second of the journey. Whether you’re into RENNtech or not, this car makes for a great addition to any collection or collectible commuter for any enthusiast. While the provenance of the car carries weight, the CLS55 AMG was only produced for one year and is rarely seen in this color combination. This example is bound to draw attention for years to come no matter where it ends up.

Fellas, I did a quick virtual overview about this car: https://youtu.be/TyDUFJ2T6J0 In short, this is a very unique CLS55 with some RENNtech parts that they no longer make. You could buy their M113K package and other performance upgrades, but exhaust, CF exterior stuff and interior upgrades are no longer available on RENNtech website. Building a CLS55 to match this one will definitely cost a lot and this car is already built and maybe you only need to add just few more things or leave it like this. I have CLS55 with RENNtech components but this car looks better. So you should seriosly considering getting this car. I wish I lived close so I could see it in person and probably make another video. If you buy it and move it close to DC or Philly or South New Jersey please let me know.
@Youngclassicamg - thanks for the clarification, appreciate the response
@MBZTECH The transmission stopped engaging gears while I was driving it shortly after I bought it. The original transmission was used as a core and a fully rebuilt transmission was purchased from a company in California that specializes in those transmissions they replace all parts that fail. Fluid and filter are a must when replacing the transmission so that was done as well and flushed the transmission cooler system. Precision European was the company that replaced it 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. Hope that answers your question. Thanks and goodluck !
Any further information on the transmission rebuild? What was the failure? What internals were replaced? Was it rebuilt at that shop on the invoice? No mention of fluid/filter replacement, or if transmission module was checked for fluid (common on the 722.6 to push fluid through harness and fill the module). Was this the original transmission to the vehicle, or another unit that was refreshed? A little more info would be helpful, thanks!

Appealing. 722.6 uncertain. Intoxicating CLS55.

@55Mafia none intended on my end as well , happy bidding ! Bitter sweet letting this one go .
Geez I didn’t mean to rock the boat on that question. I am new around here and just here for this car. I didn’t make false accusations. The quote “make sure it’s tuned” is on the document in the gallery. I did ask a question. “Where are the documents?” regarding the trans. They are now provided. Thank you. I thought this is where you ask questions about the auction. I want this car but one sentence about a fully rebuilt trans needs to be investigated on my end or any potential buyer. Again, I love this thing and want it badly! I have seen all your YouTube videos on the car and love what you do on social media. No offense intended.
An invoice documenting the transmission replacement has been added to the gallery.
I have put over 2200 miles on the new transmission and I have the receipt which was $3,000. Please ask questions before you come to false conclusions. If you have any other questions or concerns you can message me directly and I can gladly answer them as many other bidders have done..
“The original 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission has been replaced with a new rebuilt unit in October 2021 by the seller. Other recent maintenance includes the SBC recall, a new air spring in the rear left, and new inner and outer tie rod end links. Recent maintenance receipts can be seen in the gallery.” In regards to the rebuilt trans where are the documents on that major job? The “recent maintenance recipients can be seen in the gallery” only seen to be a couple hundred dollars at Renntech to “make sure it’s tuned” and a T shift and plate frame?! As a potential buyer here I don’t know if I should be happy I have a month old trans or terrified l!
@sergey I can see that being annoying if you were using it as a daily . Id like to say its not obnoxiously loud but I dont drive it on long trips or long enough for it to become annoying as well. Its definitely a bit louder than stock to say the least. Thanks !
@Youngclassicamg Thanks! I just put on my headphones and watched your first video once again starting at 7:16 when you actually started driving it. It's hard to say if I hear a hum noise or it's just a loud exhaust or a mic or an overall noise. When I picked my CLS55 it was equipped with RENNtech headers and Meisterschaft catback exhaust. That Meisterschaft exhaust literally gave me a headache and I couldn't drive my car for more than like 20 mins, so I purchased a used stock CLS55 catback and put it on the car. Drone/hum noise was gone immediately. Idk if RENNtech is better. I have RENNtech catback on my other car and it sounds very close like to the stock exhaust meaning no drone at all. Anyway, I'm not complaining at all here.
@sergey please watch the attached video of me driving the car. Everyone hears drone differently the exhaust is not too loud where you would get annoyed at-least it doesn't bother me.
Is there any exhaust drone noise especially when you cruise at normal cruise RPM i.e. 1700-2000?
Thanks !

This car is a beast!!!! I have CLS55 with some RENNtech goodies but this car has much more RENNtech goodies and much less miles than my CLS55. Here is my car when I still had Meisterschaft exhaust but later I removed it and put a stock exhaust back: -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5431wKXUrE <- I guess you'll have to copy and paste this link in your browser if you want to watch it...
Thank you @socaltires I appreciate it !
This is an absolutely beautiful & rare spec cls55. I've known the seller for quite some time now and I can attest to how well the car has been gone through, as we are both Mercedes gearheads. Bid with confidence!
