great find - period build with photos to prove it - this is a heavy hitter. not sure how many more period builds like this will casually show up
@Smcase22in my opinion it was a total steal, what is it joining in the garage?
Gavin still has a whole bowl of popcorn. wild
Here we go lads. There is blood in the water. Sharks know whats up
This is top of the totem pole. period, proven 6.0 pre merger. Maybe a couple a year come up at best. Total jaw dropper. I'm watching this one as the sharks circle
Well talk about a find... al the goodies and verification of what is unmistakably AMG Japan all over. I am salivating.
I’d like to put them on my w220
In my 20 years being into premerger this has got to be one of the cleanest, OG ones I’ve seen - across any model. It’s clear this car was ordered by someone who knew what was up (full dipped look is awesome) and kept in incredible condition. Amazing
Rare car, great way into Premerger with one of the rarest of them all
@cdwatnsu I'm intrigued by this comment as a peruse sold auctions 1. The sale price on this car doesn't appear to be a premium, if anything right around or even under market value for the miles so I'm wondering what has caused a delta in expectation when overlaid with price paid. Unless the car was a hidden salvage or rusted through trunk/bottom of doors I'm not terribly sure how much could be THAT wrong 2. In my experience any used Mercedes, even the best maintained and high tier cars have required at least 2-5k in maintenance for both required and preventative (C43, S55, 280se's etc). After all this is not a new car 3. I bought a w111 250se coupe once, and my pre purchase inspection showed up with 6k of repairs... in reality I bought the car, spent about $1000 on must-do's and the rest was not even needed so much so I couldn't for the life of me recall what they were... if you ask a mechanic to find things, they will. good luck with the car, its my favorite color and no doubt worth investing some $ to make it even better as it sounds like its not where you want it to be. You are in it for the price of a pretty crappy old civic at this point. Oh and on second vieweing of the pics aside from a couple body dings in line with age, I"m seeing an incredible interior, amazing wood, upholstery, bright orange gauges (dead give away its been garaged), smooth and straight panels aside from those couple dings a PDR guy could remove and underneath looks pretty acceptable, appears to be some corrosion on the bolts... typical for a midwest car but doesn't appear to have any signs of anything beyond that... so upon reflection, I think this was a great price for what the car gives... a 4k w124 with 165,000 would look like an absolute dog next to this... so really... what is wrong with it I wonder
Someone is going to be living in a time machine here.... I drove my 1988 w126 yesterday and was astounded... again... at the build quality of these era of benz. simply unmatched... I'm jealous of the winner
Oh, and I have never in my life seen gauges and needles that are still so orange, just the way they left the factory. tells me this lived basically its entire life, indoors with no UV exposure
talk about teutonic design in a iconic, handsome and super reliable package. wow.
@sjgnycProbably a significantly less likelihood of finding a diesel with miles this low. What I'm digging about this one is the very modern exterior color
holy cow I feel like I've never seen this gem before... where has it been hiding. nice sel wow
As an owner of a 2006 e320 cdi just like this one I can say it is literally one of the best cars I've ever owned. Great comfortable ride and chassis Good pulling power from the diesel MPG around mid-30's with mixed driving, easily into the 40's on hwy roadtrips even up to 45mpg Reliable as sin Affordable to maintain I believe in around 3.5 years and 75k miles I spent a few thousand on tires, brakes, 1 x injector, perhaps a lower control arm and a couple miscellaneous things. Bargain, top tier motoring The w211 is at the best value intersection of used mercedes right now in my opinion This car is BRAND new with 65k miles
Best of luck with a post auction sale
Didn't sell @ 83k?
low miles, good history, nice upgrades recently, wood looks fantastic, this is a great car. solid buy knowing the trajectory of pre merger...
Well bought, congrats
wow wilson with the heavies
I'm so glad I got to tune in live to witness this
whatever it takes to own this (an extra 10k, 20k, heck even 50k over ones allotted budget) is going to pale in significance over the course of time and history.. what an amazing build. A stonking v8 in a widebody, the best of the best.
stolen
4-5 bidders maybe still in the ring, let's go boys. Don't let this one go to someone else
I know this car and have seen it in person along with following along with its history. No stories. It is true to how it has been described
I have an sec and had my AC fixed for sub $400 they are quite simple systems. This Gen 2 will be the one that slipped away for many who don’t bid to win. I don’t recall the last time a genuine kitted euro model sold here in the US. Kudos to MB Market for finding the heat and bringing it time and time again. This one is about as good as it gets
Having been around w126's for about 22 years I can say for a fact a euro Gen 2 spec with AMG goodies is a rare bird stateside. In my opinion, they are the ultimate expression of clean and tidy SEC AMG. The euro bumpers not only reflect the design intent compared to the US diving board bumpers but they also sit very low in comparison to Gen 1 lips and bumpers which gives such an aggressive look. Heavy hitter for sure and a nice follow up to the Hammer. Well done MB market on pulling the rarities. wow
well done all, amazing car and within a few years could double in value in my opinion
what a steal
Looks clean
What brings about the quick sale so soon after purchase having so heavily invested in the modification and maintenance spending?
