This 2008 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG was sold new at Fletcher Jones Motorcars for approximately $198,000 in March 2008 and resided in Beverly Hills with its original owner until 2014. It now shows only 57k miles and is finished in Black (040) over Anthracite (511) exclusive Nappa leather. Features include Distronic PLUS radar cruise control, night view assist, bi-xenon headlights with active curvelight illumination, electric rear roller blind, Keyless-Go, park assist, and more. Power comes from a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 paired with a five-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. This three-owner W221 AMG is now offered by the seller with a detailed Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI), clean Carfax report, factory books & literature, and a clean Ohio title.
Compared to the standard W221 S-Class, the S65 AMG featured a lowered ride height, revised front and rear bumpers, side skirt extensions, unique exterior badging, and a quad-exit exhaust system. This example received a full detail and ceramic coating in preparation for the sale. The seller notes that paint appears to be original all around with no indications of prior paintwork.
Staggered 20″ AMG five-spoke wheels are mounted with new Continental ExtremeContact tires measuring 255/35 and 275/35 respectively, and showing 2021 date codes. AMG-modified Active Body Control (ABC) suspension was standard, along with a braking system utilizing uprated calipers and cross-drilled discs measuring 15.4″ up front and 14.4″ in the rear. The seller reports that the front brake pads and rotors were replaced approximately 700 miles ago along with all four tires.
The cabin is trimmed in S65-exclusive quilted Anthracite (511) Nappa leather, accented with hand-polished gloss burled walnut trim. Notable features include heated and ventilated multi-contour seats, navigation, a 14-speaker 600-watt Harman Kardon Logic7 sound system, an in-dash CD changer, Distronic PLUS radar cruise control, night view assist, bi-xenon headlights with active curvelight illumination, heat insulating & infrared reflecting safety glass all around, active dynamic front seats, panoramic glass sliding roof, multi-contour and climate controlled front and rear seats, electric rear roller blind, electric window blinds for the rear windows, park assist, rear-view camera, Keyless-Go, and more.
The heated multi-function steering wheel frames instrumentation consisting of a configurable LCD display, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer indicates approximately 57,000 miles with under 2,500 of those miles being added by the seller.
The twin-turbocharged and intercooled 6.0-liter V12 was factory-rated at 604 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 738 lb-ft of torque between 2,000-4,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. The engine is covered in an AMG-exclusive carbon fiber airbox showing the signature of the single-engine maker emblazoned on a plaque at the center of the airbox. The engine mounts, transmission mounts and alternator were replaced by Fletcher Jones approximately 20k miles ago.
This example is accompanied by a Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) from Mercedes-Benz detailing all service work performed on the vehicle since new at any Mercedes-Benz facility. The VMI is viewable in the gallery below. Service indicated on the attached Carfax shows regular dealer service history and linear mileage updates throughout. The report also indicates no accidents or other damage and only three-owners since new. This S65 AMG is now offered by the seller in Ohio with factory books & literature and a clean Ohio title.

@AMGdriver actually there is little that goes wrong between 33k and 56k miles on these. And the VMI on this one had a lot of the bigger ticket items addressed before the 33k miles gap. BUT, they will need about a $10k infusion between 60 and 80k miles typically. ABC, coil packs, radiators, deferred maintenace, brakes, etc.
@zachmac Admittedly I have not been looking for a 65
@zachmac Even with the lapse in service history?
@AMGdriver then you haven't been car shopping in the last 12 months. Plus MB is making exactly zero more V12s. Unless you buy a Maybach or Pagani.
Actually really surprised this didn't sell at that number.
Not surprising. At least $40k plus in current market. I bought my SL65 for $36,500 three years ago and it's all of $50k today.
@thphon I think Fidelity will still write one. And surprisingly sometimes your local credit union. Check with them!

Bid to or a great buy?
@zachmac do you know any warranty company for a V12? I gave up looking for one a few years ago
Interesting how the "ENDS IN" box changes size based on the numerals being displayed. You'd think it would be a fixed size. But admit it, now that I pointed it out you can't stop watching it. If only I'd thought of that distractor before we got to this bid level!

I have been without a warranty on my SL65 for three years and am ahead so far $ wise. 64k miles on the odometer. Do anything you can yourself, find a good indy mechanic and the aftermarket suppliers, and stay away from stealerships.
@Apabonds a LOT, IF you can find someone to write one. There are a few but for a 3 year 36k mile you are talking 6 to 8 grand. Most warranty companies won't touch the V12s. Not because they are unreliable, just because they are not cheap to fix.

Wonder what an extended warranty would cost on this car
When a F250 Ford or RAM truck just hasn't got enough torque to satisfy you, get one of these! And then hang on! About as close as you can get to a private Jet without leaving the ground.
An 07 with 20k miles recently sold on BaT for $53k. Be interesting to see where this lands in comparison. One year newer ( plus for the diamond stitch!) but higher miles.
These have aged so well. They still look very modern and I'd say look better than the newer models honestly. Oh yeah, and it's got the V12!

Hopefully this auction still has what the car being offered also needs; plenty of room to run! GLWA

@zachmac Unfortunately the second owner of the vehicle did not have any service records available beside a mission inspection. The vehicle was properly service with the first owner around 34,000 miles - Engine mount(s) replaced - Transmission mount(s) replaced. I bought the car with 53k miles on it and I did the following Maintenance to the vehicle. Front brake pads and rotors four new tires front suspension was replaced wheel alignment was performed. The car is in very good condition mechanical electrical exterior and interior. Ready for new home
@Leomousa the VMI has a 20k+ gap between 35k and 56k miles. Any records for service or maintenance in that period?
...in that the car spent its life in California, this is really a nice one...a great, magnificent, jeweled, engineered beast
