This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300E-24v 3.4 AMG is finished in Blue-Black Metallic (199) paint over Black (071) fabric with plaid fabric inserts on the seats and door cards. This example features a 5-speed manual getrag transmission with ASD and was delivered new at the Wuerzburg Branch in Germany before being mechanically and cosmetically overhauled by then-independent tuning house AMG in Affalterbach. As per the datacard, this particular 300E displays the “990 AMG Version- Complete Vehicle” designation which validates the modifications were done by AMG in period. By 1992, AMG was partially acquired by Mercedes-Benz and these AMG option codes were able to be programmed by datacard with the VIN. Bodywork is shared with the 6.0L V8-powered Hammer, but is instead powered by a heavily-modified, bored, cammed and stroked version of the standard M104 inline-six. This completely original, manual pre-merger AMG sedan currently resides in Germany and the 280 km/h AMG gauge cluster presently shows 130,500 kilometers (~81k miles) from new.
The body is finished in Blue-Black Metallic (199) paint and was modified by AMG with period correct modifications featuring sculpted front and rear bumpers, fog lights, side skirts, rolled wheel arches, AMG Aero I wheels, and a rear ducktail spoiler. The bumpers and side skirts are all stamped with HWA part numbers and documented in the gallery below. Monochrome, color-matched paint is extended below the belt line to all lower cladding and AMG panels from Affalterbach. The seller reports that the area around the rear taillights has been touched up; with only slightly higher paint meter values being indicated in that area.
Videos have been provided below showing the car at start up and idle.

In the picture with the receipts and manuals laid out it looks like that service booklet is specific to the 3.4. That's insanely rare!

I wonder how the 3.4 performs compared to a 3.6 factory

I'm certain this car is a blast to drive...even provincial 124's/201's with a manual are utterly transformed... Couple a proper trans with an rev happy/cam'ed up M104. Awesome. Curious, any record of the head gasket having been done yet? Per all M104's it's when not if. On the plus side, if it Hasn't been done and someone should be worried about parts availabilty for the odd sized engine we offer MLS head gaskets in a myriad of bore sizes...added bonus of once an MLS is utilized headgasket failure should be all but eliminated. Love that the AMG airbox is still in place, and even more so a car with ASD. Very rare option and offers 100% lock @ the differential. Greatly improves driving dynamics. Beatiful example of a mid-merger AMG with VIN/Data card verification...hard to beat if you're a Driver who wants a 3rd pedal. GLWTA!!!
I want that interior in every Benz forever and always. Stunning!
