This Mercedes-Benz AMG illuminated sign was acquired by the seller in Hamburg, Germany from a retired AMG lineman. It was reportedly displayed in an AMG specialty shop under previous ownership. The sign displays the AMG crest on both sides in full color. Each side is illuminated by internal LEDs connected with a 120-volt circuitry and 60 watt power supply. The seller welcomes buyers to pick up in person or can arrange worldwide shipping. The sign will be packaged safely and packaged by the seller.
The sign measures 24 inches in diameter with a side-mount bracket. Features include an illuminated Mercedes-Benz AMG Affalterbach logo featuring the coat of arms for Affalterbach, alongside the cam, valve, and valve spring logos. An aluminum case keeps the sign together and is finished in black. The sign facades are made from translucent Elkamet.
The seller welcomes buyers to pick up in person or can arrange worldwide shipping. The sign will be packaged safely and packaged by the seller.
Original dealer and promotional signage has become highly collectible amongst enthusiasts today. When signage is replaced with updated versions by Mercedes-Benz, the dealers are instructed to have the removed signs destroyed. Some pieces such as this illuminated logo sign have managed to escape such a wasted and premature fate. Most of these we see are dealer-destined so when we see one of these low-profile units, it's rather rare. This one was used for the International Car Show, meaning it had to be relatively light, easy to pack, and take up as little room as possible. The LEDs make for a very clean look and will make an impressive display in any garage, showroom, or man cave.

In our commitment to maintaining a fair and trusted platform, we will be withdrawing this auction due to unresolved questions around the authenticity of the sign. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the integrity and safety of the platform for our users.@Joeggernaut thank you for your strong (currently leading) bid and your insightful question. The forged steel metal base plate is quite heavy duty and substantial as well as the two support braces. There is no metal fatigue in the welding or Metallurgy of material and it is ROCK SOLID. The 2 foot diameter sign itself is made of aluminum and is the lightest portion of the sign in terms of weight of the sign, with the majority of the weight being in the steel base and the two steel support arms. There was no rust or metal deterioration when we restored the signs and I think the picture just highlight the characteristics of the metal itself. Check your DM soon for your shipping quote details. It looks as though there are stretches or paint issues in photo 4 right below where the base meets the top support to hold the sign. However, in photo 20 it doesn't appear to be there. Is this just a lighting defect in the photo? ThanksYour comments have been noted, but they do not warrant further consideration or discussion. It appears there has been a misunderstanding of the facts provided in our previous responses. Specifically, the claim that we are unwilling to provide "before and after" photographs is 100%?patently false. As previously stated, we have comprehensive photographs and videos of the sign available for the winner of the auction. Please note that the MB Market platform does not allow for the uploading of new images once a listing is live. We have observed that your line of questioning mirrors a confrontational style we have encountered previously from an individual whose low ball offers were rejected. While we aim to maintain professional etiquette, we find your persistent negative narrative to be counterproductive. At this stage, we have no interest in further discussion and will no longer engage with you or these comments of yours.Your answer dont make any sense. Not wanting to show pictures before and after is a big red flag. German Elkamet plastic is a German company that sells sign material world wide, even in USA. Premerge amg didnt have the round logo. It came later. From what i can see on the images the sign is printed and laminated. In the 80 they used die cut, screen printing The logo on the sign looks like the version mario did 20 years ago when he made aftermarket badges. I never mentioned AI,@tomkoz Yes... My wife was responding to a “heckler” who was trying (vaguely) to disparage our listing and the sign. (we believe the exact same party did the same thing here on The MB Market) Your (one sided) copy and paste to highlight our response did not address their improper request to come to our home and private warehouse to “look / inspect” the sign before buying it. Which would have circumvented the listing company and is a clear violation of their rules in which any listing site operates. Of which we responded in the manner and in the fashion that we did. Maybe you didn’t read that in the bones you are digging for to copy and paste them here? Nevertheless, In the interest of not going back and forth with you here at the 11th hour… and in our open level of transparency for the veracity of the sign’s legitimacy and our owning it. We understand the rarity of the sign and its uniqueness may very well be something never seen before. Anyone can see a the sign is real and not AI 🤖artificial intelligence. One can touch feel and see the signs size and weight along with it’s unique mounting properties to accommodate it’s double sided features. Which is one of the reasons why we bought it and several signs from the former AMG lineman employee. The fact that you point this out and highlight that you’ve never seen anything like it before only further exemplifies its uniqueness and rarity as a very special Mercedes AMG artifact. Is it real? Yes, it is. Of course, We have“clear” proof of our acquiring the signs (with a German bill of sale. We don’t need a title since it’s not an automobile) The bill of sale that you dismissed was needed to establish their value before shipping them out of Germany to California. We have our updated restoration of the sign as well as internal photographs of all of the signs that we own. Should the sign reach our reserve and sell those photos will be provided to the winner. Respectfully, we have no interest in sparing 🥊🥊back and forth with you here on where it was listed before. Or what was said about the listing and such. We understand that you are (very likely) not going to be bidding on this listing to become its new owner. However, we genuinely appreciate you, your interest, and your points of view. My wife and I understand that this is a public venue for anyone who is a member to make commentary on these listings. Even if the commentary is positive, negative, indifferent, factual, or even with glowing remarkably with fascinating rave reviews of how rare and brilliantly unique and beautiful this gorgeous AMG sign is… Or not. We’re confident that it will make an astonishing addiction to a special Mercedes-Benz AMG collector, who will appreciate the sign and have a great deal of pride of ownership just as we have... Thank you again for all of your insights. In as much as We truly do appreciate them. This will be the last and final response on the matter. Well wishes to you Tom Koz 🤓🤩🤩 (great photography by the way) 👍🏻Same sign, two storys. You write "This Mercedes-Benz AMG illuminated sign was acquired by the seller in Hamburg, Germany from a retired AMG lineman. It was reportedly displayed in an AMG specialty shop under previous ownership." PorscheHistorianPhD. uses same pictures on another auction. "The previous owner had worked for AMG there in Germany (pre merger) and had several sets of beautiful AMG artifacts and he bought a few of these choice Mercedes Benz AMG collectibles from him. It was only recently in the past couple of years that my husband realized just how rare and valuable they are. Restoring these vaunted vintage signs from our collection is not done or restored in a production facility as we have previously stated to you. (Please see the photo gallery) My husband has the knowledge agency and scholarship of how to (properly) bring these signs back to life at a high quality level and luster." If you had restored them, you would have taken pictures before and after. Can you provide the images of how the sign was before restoration? Every expert that restores unique items does document it. If they are original AMG parts, then there must be some kind of prof. Images in catalogs, car magazines, the internet, etc. The only images are the ones you have on different auction sites. Since you are an expert, you should be able to show some kinde of history or prof. Bill of sale is not a prof.@tomkoz Thank you for pointing this out with your keen eye and attention to detail. Originally, we were going to list all 3 of the AMG signs together as a trio. The Black & White, Green & White, and the multi colored double sided AMG signs all together as a remarkable vaunted group. It would have been an exciting listing to say the least! But upon the advice and counsel of The MB Market we listed only the double sided AMG sign individually. However, the Black and Green AMG signs (individually) will be coming up next after the conclusion of this present listing. All of these signs were purchased and manufactured in Germany 🇩🇪 (with German Elkamet plastic lenses, and trim caps, and German metal) all for European specifications, and usage. They were originally 220 Volt and had to be converted over to 120 Voltage so they could be adapted to US / UL specifications. This was done (in our private warehouse) by changing the power source, the original fluorescent tube lighting over to LEDs, and changing the power cord to a US three prong US specification electric cord. This was all done to exacting detail and complete restoration. Personally, I can NOT imagine selling an old vintage car and at the very least cleaning and washing it and detailing it before taking pictures of it and advertising it for sale. No less, we have restored these beautiful and rare AMG signs, cleaned them, when necessary repainted them addressing any scuffs or scratches that the signs had, polish, and buffed the glass lenses, upgraded the lighting, replaced the old fluorescent tubes, an electrical ballast, with energy, efficient, LED lighting and 100 W power source, give new life to these signs that are easily over 25 years old. We are not “sign shop”. We are simply passionate enthusiast, and collectors, of unique and eclectic European Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, automobiles, as well as automotive related vintage signage. These are not old “barn find”‘unrestored vintage signs. Our signs are highly detailed, concourse level, fully restored, and operational signs. As owners of these signs, this is what we made a conscious choice to do. We could’ve left them unrestored. But the restoration process is part of what we enjoy and proudly display our signs in our warehouse for our own pleasure and edification. However, we are not a professional sign shop that is open to the general public or have a business making signs. Our restoration is just an adjunct to our passions that we have for automotive collecting for over four decades in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s and now into the 2020s of award-winning Councouse level, blue ribbon winning Mercedes-Benz and Porsche championship automobiles and bringing that level of detail, execution and passion to restoring our signs to a very high luster and beauty. My wife and I, have been collecting Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and American muscle cars, since 1982. What you see (in the photos) is a small portion of our large 15,000 sq. ft.² warehouse where our collection is housed and restoration work is done. Not only on vintage signs, but on the cars that we acquire and restore. IT IS NOT A SIGN SHOP. We didn’t think it was necessary to photograph the sign next to one of our classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles or in the main display salon to distract away from the AMG sign. Because of the unique wall mounted configuration of the sign, I made a choice to show it and photograph it as it would be displayed in the winners, job or garage or man cave. I took the pictures in our workshop area so the sign could stand on its own merit and beauty with no other distractions visually. It is a working, private shop where fastidious detail work is done privately to restore Concourse level vintage Mercedes Benz, Porsche, American Muscle automobiles in our collection as well as vintage signs that we have collected over the years. Of course our automotive warehouse has garage space, tools, power, tools, spare parts, automobile lifts, cars, trucks, tires, wheels, metal,(that you mentioned) electrical wires and such to do our detailed passionate work as automotive Mercedes Benz AMG, Porsche enthusiasts. Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the MB market for allowing us to show and list our signs here with such a passionate audience of Mercedes-Benz enthusiast. It is an honor, and we welcome all of the questions and scrutiny and gladly address any of the reasonable questions, and comments that are made. Presently the current bid is significantly away from the reserve that has been set for the sign. However, should sign reach the reserve we will be able to provide the winner with documentation to prove that the sign was made in Germany, bought in Germany, and converted over to US specifications in a highly detailed and near professional manner. We are not professionals. We are collectors. We don’t get paid to restore our automobiles, or signs. We enjoy the auction process and with this being our very first listing and auction here on the MB market we look forward to listing more of our Mercedes-Benz AMG signage here as we look forward to sharing more of our collection with you. Again, thank you @tomkoz for your keen observations and insightful comment. Hopefully, we look forward to seeing your bid on this incredible one of a kind and beautiful AMG signage as the listing is coming to a close on tomorrow. Thank you to all the bidders! We look forward to seeing you in the winners Circle. 🏆🥇🏅Good luck 🍀$1,500 bid placed by @Joeggernaut
When looking on picture 22 https://thembmarket.com/cdn-cgi/image/fit=contain,width=1300,quality=89//uploads/listings/dr-m-benzphd/amg/low_resolution/IMG_0294.jpeg The sign is in a sign shop. You can see profiles above the sign, maxmetal (sign manufacturing aluminium) On the bottom its 2 more round amg signs, one black and one green.@Joeggernaut we welcome and appreciate all of your questions. Yes, there is proof that the sign is authentic and was made in Germany 🇩🇪 Internal markings show that the sign was made from German Elkamet plastic lenses as well as the trim caps all made with German materials in Germany 🇩🇪 I also have a bill of sale from the original German owner (Hans Lindermann) who was an AMG assembly lineman (written in German). As for size dimensions, the double sided sign 24” inches in diameter and is 40” inches in width. It is very substantial weighing in at Approximately 40 LBS. If you can contact me through the (contact the seller) portal with your address details or a zip code of your city I can get you a very accurate shipping quote for you on Monday by Monday. If necessary, I can hold it for you for a time until you’re able to come and pick it up directly. Or I can possibly deliver it to you as well.I just found it curious that you continue to claim that this is an authentic sign, and that you don’t have a production facility… yet, on the previous auction site you listed four identically manufactured signs with four different graphic design/logos. One PCA logo, one Porsche World Championship logo, one Porsche Authorized Parts & Service logo and this AMG logo sign. All are round, all the graphics have the same printing technique and the round metal frame seem to be produced in the same exact way and are all either 24” or 36” in diameter. Seems suspect to claim these are not reproductions. Just seems odd that you keep calling these signs authentic, yet they all seem to have been (re)produced by the same methods and are similar size and shape construction. I’m sure MBMarket wouldn’t want to have a sign advertised as authentic when in fact all signs point to it being a reproduction. If it’s authentic, one would expect that claim to have some documentation proving so.Is there any way to authenticate that this is in fact a real sign and not a reproduction? I'm not doubting it's validity, just curious as to if it comes with any documentation. Also do you happen to have an estimate for size and weight once it is packaged for shipping so I can try to get an accurate quote? If I choose to pick it up, would you be willing to hold on to it for a short period of time (once paid for) if I could not pick it up immediately? Sorry for the questions, but trying to figure out if this would be logistically possible.@Vehikuhl that individual that you mentioned asked if it was possible to come and “inspect” the sign at our “production facility”. We respectfully explained to them that… (A) we do not have any “production facilities” as we are NOT a brick and mortar retail business open to the public. We (my wife and I) are private collectors and Mercedes Benz AMG enthusiast who have lovingly restored, updated, and cared for and curated this rare sign as any private collector would do. We rejected his claim of us having a production facility and that a “walk in” (into our home) to “inspect the sign was not possible before purchase. (That person has been very combative with us on other listings we have posted. And furthermore they reside in Oklahoma and we are here in Los Angeles, California. So it wouldn’t even have been possible logistically speaking for them to come and inspect the sign whatsoever. Not withstanding the clear rules that forbid direct contact between seller and bidders before close of auction unless that contact is through the listing site. Knowing this, the party (bidder) in question continued to bid on the sign… Even making (very low ball) offers for the sign after bidding ended.. We rejected their “offers” as clearly it was a tactic to low ball the listing with their vague comments as they had done in the past on other listings that they had bid on (and lost)! even harassing the winners of the auction with their disparaging comments. They made several low ball offers that we rejected as well. And (B) that individual was seeking to circumvent the listing site and go around them to make direct contact with us. Of course this is strictly forbidden 🚫 by most all listing sites, including The MB Market.. As that would have been the only way to “inspect” the sign BEFORE PURCHASE. Never mind the fact that there were numerous photos and a video of the listing for anyone to appraise and evaluate the remarkable and rare AMG sign. Of course, we thank you for your comment / question and look forward to seeing your bid on this very rare and special 💯% authentic (made in Germany 🇩🇪) Mercedes Benz AMG signage. Is this the sign that was posted on another auction site recently and its authenticity was questioned?$1,250 bid placed by @Mesis
