These original sheep skin seat covers were made exclusively for Mercedes-Benz. They're designed to fit the W126 chassis front seats and include the head rests. The covers were removed from a W126 AMG and are believed to have been originally fitted by Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories, the AMG west coast distributor prior to Mercedes-Benz's acquisition of AMG. The original installation instructions are included in the sale and pictures of an original premerger AMG show these sheep skin covers as optional accessories. These genuine sheep skin seat covers are now offered by the seller in Homer Glenn, Illiinois with worldwide shipping options available.
These genuine sheep skin seat covers were removed from a W126 SEL which was modified by AMG. The seller states they will fit all other W126 models and may also fit C126 coupes as well. A leather tag shows care instructions and U.S.A as the place of manufacturing. The covers were made exclusively for Mercedes-Benz and feature fastening straps for a snug fitment. The underside of the covers feature a soft fabric with the Mercedes star logo.
The head rest covers are included along with the original installation instructions. The seller has provided images of an original premerger AMG brochure showing various accessories offered including these sheep skin covers. The seller is able to ship and quotes are available upon request.
The MB Market Insights
Back in the premerger AMG glory days of old, prior to AMG's merger/acquiisition by Mercedes-Benz, you could order AMG upgrades a la carte. Simply check the boxes in the catalog for the upgrades that you'd like and stroke a fat check. The primary source for accessing these elite Benzes was through AMG Westmont in Chicago who would then send the cars to Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories in California for delivery. There, you could add on accessory items such as floormats, alarm systems, upgraded audio, window tint, and of course, sheep skin seat covers. As a matter of fact, the first AMG Hammer we sold on The MB Market back in 2022 had many of these accessory upgrades including the sheep skins. This set came from an 80's W126 modified in-period by AMG and shows an original tag where they were made exclusively for Mercedes-Benz. Even the original installation instructions are inclulded. Straight out of the AMG catalog, these rare authentic sheep skin covers are incredibly hard to find today so don't miss out!
They certainly are very nice. My March 1987 issue of Road & Track shows the Beverly Hills ad as having a starting price of $190 (each), depending on type ordered. Since I don't own a 126, this is too much of a die roll !
I have not seen another set for sale. I have been hoarding these for 5 years haha goodluck to all. Ive got to say they do keep you warm in these winter months all while protecting the leather !
@BelindabenzoThey may fit the seats but the headrest is different and the w124 seats are narrower so my guess is that the fit may be a bit loose. I cannot confirm fitment you would need to know the measurements of the w126 seats and your seats to get a better idea
@SwissBlissyou would need to measure the width of the Recaro top and bottom . It may fit but will not be as snug as on a factory seat. They did fit a w210 seat so if that is as wide then they might fit however the bolsters push forward so I am unsure tbh.
