I would encourage a third part inspection! Firstly, due to a costly past purchasing experience, which would have been less so if I were more diligent or if the seller was more transparent. Secondly, the cost of maintenance of the 6.3 and 6.9 is significantly higher than their M117 powered counterparts.
Hello there, Question for you, since these are 560 heads, do the tri-y euro manifolds from the original 500 heads (with the smaller valves) fit on these? I had read the later head(1986+)with larger valves had slightly different exhaust ports than the earlier 5.0 variants from 78-85. Thanks in advance!
@mbheritage You’re welcome. I believe the 500SLC & 450SLC were rated at 240 HP, the early 500SLs were 228 HP/231 PS… all of them powered by M117 V8 engines but different variants.
@mbheritage I think there’s a minor error in the description; this vintage of 500SL would have been rated at 228 HP… 242 HP was the late 85-89 500SL, it came with the air intake that was found in the 560SL….It looks visually similar to that engine with black valve covers… GLWA Roy
@shervinator @avemaria Given the other Premerger AMG parts in my collection, I suspect your guesses are correct: Dreams and semirigid polyurethane
