This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL is a first model year R107 and has undergone extensive refurbishment by the seller over the last 3 years. The car is finished in Red over a Black MB-Tex interior and powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic. The current odometer reads 92k miles which are believed to be accurate. Features included electric front windows, factory air conditioning, and a black fabric soft top. Records show over $12k of services and maintenance including new struts, wheel bearings, alternator, ignition, rebuilt transmission, new exhaust, steering linkage and much more. Most recently an oil service and fluid flush was performed in March 2024. This roadster comes with two keys, partial service records, and a clean Michigan title in the current owner’s name.
The car is finished in its original Red and underwent a full professional repaint under the current owner's car with photo documentation in the gallery. Features include original European bumpers, U.S headlamps, fog lights, chrome mirror caps, and a black fabric soft top. The soft top is reportedly in good condition and shows well. Close-ups of the wheel arches, rocker panels and wheel wells are highlighted in the gallery below with no major blemishes.
The SL is fitted with OEM 14” steel wheels wearing paint-matched hub caps with new Hankook Kinergy ST tires mounted measuring 205/70 all around. A new exhaust has been installed along with new struts and axle bearings.
The cabin is finished in Black MB-Tex with matching carpets and trim. The door cards and seats have been reupholstered in matching textures. Zebrano wood trim adorns the dash and center console with minor hairline cracks visible around the center tray. Features included electric front windows, factory air conditioning, custom carpet floor mats in black with red piping, and upgraded speakers on the rear deck behind the seats. The seller states the radio has been retrofitted with bluetooth capability.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and additional auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The six-digit analog odometer shows 92,500 miles.
The fuel-injected 4.5L V8 sends power to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Records show over $12k of recent services and maintenance including new steering linkage, struts, axle bearings, fuel lines, drive belt, alternator, ignition, recharged A/C, rebuilt transmission, and new exhaust. Documentation is shown in the gallery. Most recently the car received an oil service and fluid flush in March 2024.

Body work was done in March 2024…vents work properly.. no leaks or mechanical issues…I have owned a 190SL, 250SL, 250SE coupe, plus several other body styles…this car is running great, smooth, quiet, powerful…true driver, not show car….new top in a couple of years would be recommended…..there is no rust…I have always taken care of my vehicles and have owned over 30 different classics. I take care of them…
When was body/paint work done? What rust repairs were completed? Do the vacuum elements that actuate the defrost/dash/floor vents work properly? I have owned a 1972 350sl for decades and these are underappreciated. I prefer it to my 1988 560sl. Any known mechanical issues? Any fluid leaks?

I have pics on paint process that can be forwarded…completed by reputable classic car shop in suburban Detroit. There is a crack on dashboard and HVAC system was flushed out, repurpose but there’s models had adequate air conditioning at its best. This car has had less than 7000 miles on it over the last 5 years.
Can't see all details on repair invoices. Is body/paint work invoice attached? When was paint work done? Any pictures of body when work was done? Dash have any cracks? Do the HVAC vacuum elements all work properly?
