This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is being relisted after being auctioned in October, 2025 on The MB Market. It shows Pennsylvania registration history since 1993 and was reportedly sold new in Pennsylvania. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Medium Red Leather (277), this SL is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 and paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes a removable paint-matched hardtop, R134-converted air conditioning with automatic climate control, cruise control, an updated digital head unit, OEM red velour floor mats and 15” Gullideckel wheels. The SL has reportedly been well-maintained and kept but service records have been misplaced. This 560SL is being offered for sale in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania with 39k miles, manufacturer’s literature, two factory keys, an included Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The exterior of this SL is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) paint and features chrome trim along the beltline and both front and rear bumpers along with a painted pinstripe in matching medium red. The body is noted to be rust-free as a garage-kept example. Photos showing the folding black soft top are included in the gallery and show clear plastic windows. Paint meter photos are included in the gallery.
This 560SL wears original silver-painted 15x7” Gullideckel wheels wrapped in Michelin MXV4 measuring 205/65 on all four corners. The wheels show well without any major blemishes and feature original painted center caps.
The cabin is upholstered in Medium Red Leather (277) across the seats, door cards, armrest, and head rests. Matching red carpets are shown with OEM red velour floor mats. The center console is trimmed in burl wood where controls are mounted for the automatic climate control along with the digital head unit. The dashboard wears a black cap with no blemishes. Aftermarket speakers are mounted in the rear parcel shelf.
The odometer shows 39k original miles. Instrumentation includes VDO gauges featuring a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and an analog odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, oil pressure, fuel economy, and an analog clock. The gauges feature electronic warning lights along the base of the cluster, none of which are currently illuminated.
The 560SL is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 which was rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. The seller notes that while this SL has received regular maintenance and preventative service, the records have been misplaced in a move.
This 560SL is being offered for sale in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania with 39k miles, manufacturer’s literature, two factory keys, an included Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title.

The MB Market Insights
The R107 is an icon of the 80’s and one of the most recognizable classic cars from Mercedes-Benz. Being produced for 17 years, the V8 version of the R107 in the US started out with a 4.5-liter V8 and eventually graduated to the larger 5.5-liter version starting in 1986. While the R107 continues to solidify its legendary status among a lineage of SL's, R107's in above average mechanical condition are becoming tougher to find than ever. The M117-powered 560SL's are leading the way from a collectability and value standpoint. This example is exceptionally desirable in Black Pearl paint and knowing the seller, won't disappoint the next owner.
Whoever is thinking of buying this nice car should snatch up the Euro (E-Code) headlights also auctioned on this site. Easy to switch out the hideous US DOT headlights for the far superior Euro versions. Easy to install and the difference in seeing down the road is amazing. Run straight Phillips H4 bulbs 55watts. Converted all my Mercs/Porsches/BMW’s
Of the many R107s I have had the pleasure to own and drive, this is an exceptional example, and I truly believe that the new owner will be very pleased with the car mechanically and cosmetically.
Mark…..I do not see a phone number listed on your Facebook page or otherwise. I would like to have a conversation with you about the car and arrangement to see it…..
@Nicolejoan
Yes to physically seeing the car but it will have to be afternoons and before end of auction. I can reached through Marks Classic cars, Coraopolis Pa 15108
Good luck to all interested parties, I had some new service performed on her since last listed. Had factory alternator rebuilt and is charging at factory settings. Along with a new premium battery, I had new front calipers and pads installed and flushed and replaced the brake fluid. I wanted it to be trouble free for the next caretaker. Feel free to inquire about anything pertaining to this beautiful R107 roadster!
