With the redesign of over 1000 different parts, each A124 gained 287 extra pounds of sheet metal over the coupes for strengthening the chassis to reduce scuttle shake since it was losing its roof. The reengineering of the A124 is mind boggling and something only Mercedes-Benz would do in the early ‘90s when they were at their peak. Making the best cars in the world was their goal instead of being run by accountants and penny pinchers. We keep seeing these Cabriolets come out of wealthy areas. This one started life being enjoyed in West Palm Beach and finally moving to Atlanta – both are cities with deep ties to MBUSA. These were so expensive when new and are now hot collector commodities. This E320 Cabriolet is handsome in black and boasts updated engine wiring harnesses. Being owned by a Mercedes-Benz employee meant it got regular services at the dealership here in Atlanta where a lot of old techs still work at the dealerships.
