This 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbodiesel was originally delivered to Crown Motors of Reading, California and now shows 158k miles from new. Finished in Light Ivory (623) over Palomino MB-Tex (134), power is provided by a 3.0-liter five-cylinder turbodiesel engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes an electric sliding sunroof, central locking, automatic climate control, cruise control and a Becker radio with bluetooth input. Documented service history from new is included along with the original window sticker. Recent maintenance consists of new tires, a new AC control unit and a new heater control monovalve. This 300D Turbodiesel is now offered for sale by the current owner with the original manufacturer’s literature, tool kit and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in Light Ivory (623) and features chrome body trim and chrome-lined impact bumpers. Exterior equipment consists of an electric sliding sunroof, heat-insulating glass with an electrically-heated rear window, front fog lamps and an automatic antenna. The seller reports fading paint on the driver-side fender with no signs of rust or body damage present on the body.

The original 14” Bundt alloy wheels were recently fitted with a set of Starfire tires which measure 195/70 on all four corners. A full-size spare is mounted in the trunk and was fitted with a matching tire in September 2022. Braking is handled by power-assisted dual-circuit disc brakes both front and rear.

The cabin is trimmed in Palomino MB-Tex (134) with matching carpets and floor mats and Zebrano wood trim which lines the center console and dashboard. Interior appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, central locking, manually-adjustable front seats and a Becker stereo which was recently fitted with a bluetooth input by Becker. The seller reports that the carpets were professionally detailed and that a new AC control unit and Klima heater control monovalve was recently fitted. The interior dimmer rheostat is said to work intermittently.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation with an 80-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently shows 158k miles from new with just over 3k miles added by the current owner.

This W123 is powered by a 3.0-liter five-cylinder Turbodiesel engine which is factory rated for 123 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The most recent oil change was performed in the past 3k miles. Documented service history from new is included and is viewable in the photo gallery.

The car was first sold and registered in California and shows three owners from new with registration currently shown in Texas. This 300D Turbodiesel is now offered for sale by the current owner in Allen, Texas with the original manufacturer’s literature, the factory tool kit and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The addition of the turbo greatly helped improve the drivability and performance of the W123 over earlier years. Full front suspension was rebuilt 11/3/03 at Northstar Motors in Redding CA. In that service they also replaced the AC compressor and drier. 

2 Upper control arms, 4 control arm bushings, 2 control arm tubes, 2 support joints, 2 lower control arm kits, 2 front sway bar mounts. Grand total $1978.47 on the invoice :)

Hello: Do you have any records of front suspension work? Lower ball joints, Lower Control Arms, Shocks (looks like it's original), steering? LCR busing in the pics looks cracked.   I know it's a 50 year old car but wanted some history on suspension. Thanks a bunch.
