This 1998 Mercedes-Benz C230 was sold new in Alabama in June 1998 before moving to Virginia in 2001 with the current owner where it has remained for the past 20 years. Finished in Emerald Green Metallic (269) over Mushroom leather (205), this two-owner W202 is powered by a DOHC M111 Inline-4 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. Features include cruise control, automatic climate control, a power sliding sunroof, and an original Becker head unit. An oil and filter change was performed in preparation for the sale. Now showing 155k miles, this W202 is now being offered by the current owner with prior service records, original window sticker, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, a clean Carfax and a clean Virginia title.
The exterior is finished in Emerald Green Metallic (269) with gold pinstriping, chrome accents around the beltline, paint-matched bumpers and mirror covers. The paintwork appears to be in good condition with no clear coat failure or major imperfections. It is believed to be largely original according to the seller and the attached Carfax shows no damage or other accidents since new. Minor imperfections are noted with specificity in the gallery.
Original 15x7” wheels are finished in silver and wear Michelin tires measuring 205/60 on all four corners with 2013 date codes. The wheels show no signs of major curb rash or bends while the lips and faces still retain the OEM brushed finish.
The cabin features Mushroom leather (205) with a matching steering wheel, shift knob, door cards, center console, and dashboard. Burl wood veneer accents the dashboard, doors, and center console, including the cup holder and ashtray covers showing no signs of cracks. Interior features include automatic climate control, climate REST function, cruise control, power windows, and power-adjustable mirrors. OEM floor mats showing the embroidered Mercedes-Benz logo and foot pad are included. The seller notes that the headliner is beginning to sag slightly near the sunroof and at the rear of the cabin.
The Beige leather steering wheel frames a 160-mph analog speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and a digital odometer with trip function showing 155k miles. Additional gauges include fuel level and coolant temperature, along with a digital clock. The digital LCD screens present as they should and show no signs of de-pixilation.
The DOHC 2.3-liter M111 four-cylinder engine was rated at 148 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission. An oil and filter service was performed in preparation for sale.
The car is now being offered by the seller with a clean Carfax report showing no accidents or damage and regular service, original window sticker, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, two keys, and a clean Virginia title.

The C230 has been a staple on the roads for the past 20+ years and for good reason: with classic Sacco-era styling, old-world Mercedes reliability, great fuel economy and simple mechanics, these baby benzes have been the smart man’s buy for decades. Sadly, most of these have been used as intended and show the miles of wear proudly throughout. But this example is a rare exception: with respectable miles but condition matching an example with a third of that, this little C still has class. Finished in the classic green over tan color combo, this bargain buy is extremely tempting; especially with the current gas prices. It’s hard to imagine a better value for your dollar than this clean W202.
