Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings with paint-matched hubcaps. Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires are mounted all around. Stopping power is provided by vacuum-assisted drums all around. In December 2020 the car received new brake booster lines, hoses, and wiring, along with a brake fluid flush. The brake system was bled and the shoes were adjusted in June 2024.
The interior features black leather seats along with matching door panels, carpets, and a body-color dash. Features include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, an analog clock, lap belts, and a rear “Kinder” jump seat. The heater core was replaced in January 2021. The seller notes a tear in the driver’s seat back and some discoloration on the ivory steering wheel. A vintage wooden shift knob is fitted and the original ivory knob is also included.
The two-spoke steering wheel wears a lace-up cover around the rim and frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer along with gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer currently shows 49k miles with true mileage unknown.
The 1.9-liter inline-four features dual Solex carburetors and was factory rated at 104 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. The engine bay and block were repainted in 2020, and the engine mount was shimmed in June 2024 along with a brake fluid flush. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission, and the shifter bushings were replaced in 2020. The most recent maintenance since June 2025 includes a new clutch bushing, new fuel pump along with all related seals, gaskets, and filters, new front and rear gear shifter bushings, and a new clutch bushing. Rust repair was performed on the frame rails, floorboard, firewall, and rocker supports along with an undercoating applied to the chassis in October 2020 with receipts included.

I can personally vouch for @refusedname as a seller. A couple of years ago, I bought my “dream car” (an R129 SL600) from him, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. He’s a true Benz enthusiast with some of the finest examples you’ll find anywhere in the world. I had the chance to see this W121 in person about a year ago—it’s every bit as gorgeous as it looks here. My only regret is not having the resources to scoop up everything he is wiling to part with. This is a rare opportunity - whoever ends up with this car will be very fortunate to purchase one of his cars. And if you ever decide to part with it down the road, please remember this comment—I’d love the opportunity to take another shot at it. I better get back to work! @refusedname - I'm still loving the SL, though I’ll admit the W140 often wins the key battle on my way out the door. I hope you are doing well and GLWA! Cheers, Mike
Hello @brevomarketing, to my knoweldge both the engine and transmission are original to the car.

Hello MB Market community. Welcome to my first MB Market auction! Up for bidding is my 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL finished in the striking red over black color combination. I’ve owned this car for a little over four years, during which it has been maintained under an open checkbook policy. Over $50,000 in service receipts accompany the car, reflecting the level of care it has received. The 190SL needs absolutely nothing at this point—ready to be enjoyed as a daily driver or added to any collection as a standout piece. Please bid with confidence.
