This auction is for two National Mercedes-Benz 650 J.S. Pedal Cars produced in 1970’s and 1980’s as functional children's ride-on toys. They’ve become increasingly rare and collectible in recent years as the aligned vintage MB’s also find more popularity. While these cars were manufactured in Korea, they were predominantly sold in Western markets. These pedal cars are designed to mimic a Mercedes-Benz luxury sedan or roadster, often featuring a metal body, adjustable leather-like seats, and a hood ornament. The set features two pedal cars, one finished in dark red and the other finished in a period-correct gold paint. The red car is pedal-powered and the gold car is battery operated. The auction is offered by the seller and owner in Mocksville, NC and the seller has offered to help with packaging.
The bodies of each car show well without major damage or wear. Each are reportedly in their original paint and show well in original condition. While the red car is pedal-powered and functions as intended, the gold car is battery operated with electric pedals for acceleration, deceleration, and reverse. There's also a horn button on the dashboard right of the steering wheel. The gold car reportedly doesn’t operate under power anymore but should be repairable. Each car shows black vinyl seating and aluminum trim rings around the cabins.
Detailed photos of each car are shown in the gallery with close-ups and undersides featured. The auction is offered by the seller and owner in Mocksville, NC and the seller has offered to help with packaging.
For some of us this is the closest we could come to owning these icons (no pun intended for our favorite gold paint). For those that struggle with collectible memorabilia just like us at The MB Market, we're proud to offer these vintage toys that would be at home with ANY collection. The benefit here is the option to pass down the hobby to kids just realizing how cool cars are...Why put them into a commonly-found pedal car when they can be the envy of the neighborhood with their very own classic MB.
