An extensive service in October 2024 included the installation of a new cylinder head from Mercedes along with the valves, guides, and seals. A new head gasket set and timing chain tensioner were also installed along with a new fan clutch. Additional maintenance in June 2024 included a rebuild of the steering gear box with a new filter and power steering fluid, a front suspension overhaul with a new center link, left and right tie rods, steering damper, and an alignment, and lastly a new front and rear flex disc. Hey everyone I just wanted to say thank you for the bids as the auction winds down and I'm available for any last minute questions. And as a fun bonus to conclude the auction, Thomas LePley, the third owner of the car from 2014-2015, let me share his story with this fantastic Mercedes 300TD to help fill us all in on the early history of the car: "The first buyer was a neighboring ranch owner in Santa Barbara, and she only put approximately 800 miles on it before she passed away. Her estate put it up for sale the next year and I was outbid by another neighbor (a retired aviation executive) who I saw quite often for the next 25 years or so. Each time I saw him and his wife I said let me know if you're going to sell it. One day in late 2014 I got a call and all she said was "Veral died, do you want to buy the car"? I was a member of the Merceds Benz of America club and saw the announcement for MBZ cars over 25 years of age and 200,000+ miles to participate in the "Legends of the Autobahn" at Pebble Beach, so I applied and was accepted. I went there and displayed my wagon among all the wonderful other collectible MBZs. While there a nice couple approached me and bought the car. They didn't drive it or check it out , other than hearing it run. I suggested they take the train from S.F. to Santa Barbara and I would pick them up and take them to the car's mechanic of the last 20 plus years (Norh's Autohaus), so if they had second thoughts about purchasing it , I would be happy to keep the car. They were delighted with it and drove it back to San Francisco!" Max - P.S. This makes myself the sixth owner of the 300TD

Super cool wagon here. Thedailyvroom.com has an interesting take on this car for those of you who have not seen this site before. The Best Deal on the Internet this week”…… Enjoy….. Good luck with the auction …..
@deniskolman78 My best guess for sea freight would be somewhere above $5000 to Slovenia from Los Angeles. That's just a guess based on my experience shipping cars.
Hi, Thanks for your reply, but I would like to ask if you could give me an approximate price for transportation and all the costs that will need to be paid, so that I can calculate how big a budget I can have. Thanks for your answer. Denis

@gsxr It's referred to in Europe as Petrol Blue rather than green as I remember it. The 877 code being Blue Green Metallic. Lovely colour whatever the case
@mottcom I have the 4-flat kit but hadn’t wired it yet as I don’t tow regularly, but the kit will be included. There’s a small leak but it’s the common one from any of the Turbo Diesels. Nothing substantial.
$8,750 bid placed by @1Panzer
Is the car wired for a trailer? If so, 4-flat? Also, the underside photos show oil blowback on the undercarriage. Is there an oil leak? If not, know anything about a previous oil leak? Love to see these well-preserved cars.

Additional photos have been added to the gallery. All Carfax reports for listings are available by clicking the "Show me the Carfax" link located on the right-side column under the "Quick Facts" section.
Hey everyone, I uploaded some more ambient photos of the car out and about, when I took to Death Valley etc. as well as a photo of the original warranty registration card from the car being sold in Santa Barbara etc. Also going through the CarFax, it shows I am the 5th owner with the first owner having had the car from 1987 to 2015. I uploaded the data file for anyone interested, and yes @gsxr it appears to be "Blue Green" as opposed to Petrol Green.
Random trivia: Paint code 877 is named "Blue Green" in the 1987 USA Paint & Interior sales brochures / color guide. The LastVIN online decoder also shows 877 as "Blue-Green". The name Petrol Green may have been used in other markets, i.e. Europe? Petrol isn't green, so it's a bit of an odd name IMO. Definitely not a common color for the 124 chassis.
@avvocato The B Pillar trim just needs a re-glue, there are no parts missing or broken and the seat belt slider on the B Pillar works normally. The seatbacks aren't "strewn about" as much as I needed to bring them with me as we just got rain and I needed to move the car from my house to our storage location efficiently.

My favorite listing in a long while. TDT, petrol green, and this presentation is top notch. As a x2 '95 124 owner currently, spending past few weeks driving my silver surfer '95 wagon. If a magic wand could be waived.. Good job seller with the listing and honesty. I am on the east coast and this would make for a fun cross country trip!
This is a beautiful wagon. One of my biggest regrets was selling mine. I drove it for 100K miles and sold it for more than I paid for it. These wagons are absolute unicorns now, as the bidders on this site I am sure certainly know. Best of luck, I am almost sad to see it being sold. 😂
An additional video has been added showing the A/C operation, along with photos of the seats with the sheepskin covers removed, a spare set of wheels and tires which will be included in the sale, and casting numbers on the head.
Thank you for posting some videos and answering some questions. Please post photos of all seats with the sheepskins removed and photos of the front B pillar seatbelt retractors... are there parts missing or broken there? Please state IF anything is not working on this wagon. Please also explain why the rear seatbacks are off and strewn about the rear of the vehicle in the videos... certainly not as shown in the earlier photos. Thank you. Beautiful neighborhood and grateful not decimated by the local wildfires.
Videos of the car have been added to the listing.
Hi Everyone, I just shot a driving video, along with a walk around of everything working on the car. They should go live soon. Look for the seats under the sheepskins and a photo of the head casting number this afternoon as well. I'm borrowing a paint meter to go over the car with tomorrow. @avvocato We are far away from the wildfire and any associated smoke / heat damage. It has a "#22" casting head which a photo will go live of soon. It comes with a two year warranty from MB Classic via Vaco Precision Mercedes in Los Angeles who installed the head. I will forward their contact info to whoever ends up with the car. No rust or bondo present on the car. @deniskolman78 Yes the car can be shipped and there are a few different options. I've shipped two cars to Europe in the past two years so I am familiar with the process.
Good morning. I posted 3 sets of questions below days ago and there are no answers posted. I have also asked a few times to be contacted to schedule an inspection with no reply. While interested in this car I have concerns that need to be addressed BEFORE bidding and I would appreciate a response. I trust the others would like answers to the same good questions and to see videos of the car without the professional enhanced images like the photos posted here and all its functions working. I would also like to know if this car is located in the area of the CA wildfires and if there has been any damage to the car and if any problem having it shipped ? Thank you.
Hello, I have one question, can you help me arrange delivery car to Europe (Slovenia, port Koper) if I win in bidding?

Can you please provide the casting numbers on the new heads and state whether replaced with the old original or later improved heads? Posts state the original #14 prone to cracking them MB had #22 replacement improved heads. Thank you. I would appreciate responding to all the good questions posted below.
Hey everyone, I'm going to address all the comments / take some videos when I'm home from the desert on Monday. @virafp - Yes all diesel are smog exempt in CA before 1997. Just to assure everyone, yes the original seats are in fantastic condition. I just liked the feel of the original factory sheepskins that came with the car!
GLWTA…just curious, is this car smog exempt in CA?

Please state if this wagon has all original paint or what areas have been repainted. Please also state if any paint chips or crazing of the clear coat as the professional photos don't show those details. Is there any indication of bondo or rust? Full reply would be appreciated. Also please reply to schedule inspection. Thank you

Please tell us IF everything is working and what is not. Please also post videos of a cold start, driving and display all things operating: windows, gauges, lights, radio, electric seats, roof, HVAC, horn, etc. I would certainly like to see all this before bidding. Photos of all seats with covers off would also be appreciated. Please also contact me to arrange for an inspection. Thank you.
I'm a fan of sheepskins and had a pair that I moved from a 113 to a 108 that I loved and that helped keep the seats lovely, but inquiring minds will want to know. The rest of the interior looks nice and its color compliments the exterior nicely. Otherwise, this looks to be well loved with some substantial recent service. GLWTA!

@eb403 Early in my life I was taught the "sandwich method" by my parents. If you have to be critical, try starting and finishing with something kind. This is obviously an enthusiasts car...lets support each other here. @seller, definitely not a pig and VERY cool. If you get the chance, we'd love to see some photos of the seats.
never a good sign of seat covers on a sale vehicle. looking at this closely, lipstick on a pig. im out
Photos of the fronts seats without the sheepskin covers would be helpful! Love the paint color.
