This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 400E is finished in Pearl Blue Metallic (348) over Gray (268) leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter M119 V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes Acceleration Skid Control, a power sunroof, 15″ alloy wheels, automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, and a Becker Grand Prix stereo. The Carfax shows registration history in Massachusetts, Florida and Texas before being acquired by the current owner in Colorado in 2020. Under current ownership the car has undergone an extensive mechanical refurbishment as detailed thoroughly below. This W124 now shows 80k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, maintenance booklet, extensive service records, a recent Carfax report, and a clean Colorado title.
The exterior is finished in Pearl Blue Metallic (348) with blue lower cladding, chrome accents, and black bumper fascias. The paint shows in excellent condition with no major flaws or clear coat failure visible. A two stage paint correction and ceramic coating was recently applied to the body. Additional features consist of a power sliding sunroof, fog lights, headlight wipers, a power-operated antenna, and a heated rear window.
Eight-hole 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with new 195/65 Continental tires showing 2020 date codes. This example received all new brake rotors and pads as part of its extensive mechanical refurbishment listed below. The factory exhaust has been replaced with a Fox Germany sports exhaust and new catalytic converter has been installed.
The interior features seats upholstered in Gray (268) leather with matching carpets and burl wood trim adorns the center console, dash, and doors. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats with driver memory settings, cruise control, automatic climate control, a locking center console, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo.
The power-adjustable four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and auxillary gauges displaying fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 7,500 of which were added by the seller over the past 2.5 years.
The 4.2-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Service under current ownership includes:
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with three keys, a maintenance booklet, service records, and a first aid kit. The Carfax report shows one accident in 1997 and lists registration history in Massachusetts, Florida, Texas and Colorado.

Congrats @2thdr! There's a 400E section on the 500Eboard forum with everything you need to know about the care & feeding of your new family member... :)
Congrats to the tooth doctor! That is a nice looking ride.
@2thdr Absolutely incredible mechanical refurbishment! We've seen thousands of Mercedes vehicles over the last 30 years, and this level of detail is very rarely encountered. Congrats to the lucky new owner!

This paint looks so good on this car. Easily one of the best colors from MB! If it's between a 500E for $50k+ or this 400E, I think it's a pretty easy decision.

Never gets old seeing Mercedes wood consoles that aren't faded and cracked. This is such a nice example!

@rippeldrew I like what you’ve done with this since it was last in Palmetto, FL a few years back. The color correction in particular makes the paint really pop! GLWA. maw
@TheAMGKit, the 400E received the same modifications to fit the V8 engine into the chassis. The front seats were not separated, the seat mounting rails were narrower to allow more space for the wider tunnel required for the larger twin catalysts. The firewall is also the same on all V8 models, ditto the reinforced rear subframe. As the seller mentioned, the 500E had a wider track, wider fenders, plus larger brakes and other subtle differences.
Beautiful example of a 400E. I've owned two of these, and while I know a 500E is far better due to numerous improvements, you can't find a better "smiles per mile" value in a W124 than a 400E. When everything is up to snuff these cars drive like they're on rails to speeds that will push you back in the seat. GLWA!

@TheAMGKit I believe the differences were that the 500E/E500, which I also love, has a 1.5” wider track and wider rubber, necessitating wider fenders. Both the 400 and the 500 had to have a substantial subframe modification/frame rails to house the mighty M119.
the 500e required porsche figure out how to fit the m119 into the 124 right. Widened fender pulled back the firewall, separated the front seats a bit..... but why didnt the 400 get the same treatment....Its the same block. Motor is the same size... How did mercedes fit it without the 500 modifications from porsche. ??

Hi to all those who have stopped by to check-out and bid on my pearl blue garage queen. I have spent well over 9k in preventative maintenance on this car and while I hate to get rid of it, I have been obsessing over a year now about 129’s, but don’t have room in the garage for two stellar Sacco designs. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions you might have - Drew

@gsxr I recently had the emissions done in February and this M119 is amazing - HC GPM was 0.3423 with limit of 1.2, CO GPM was 2.97 with max of 15, Nix was 0.94 with a max of 3.0 - amazing that a car with 1990's tech can operate so clean!
@gsxr the original exhaust is no longer with the car, but the fox exhaust sounds amazing while not being overly loud or boy racer; I recently had the emissions done in February and this M119 is amazing - HC GPM was .3423 with limit of 1.2, CO GPM was 2.97 with max of 15, Nix was 0.94 with a max of 3.0 - amazing that a car with 1990's tech can operate so clean!
@gsxr the original exhaust is no longer with the car, but the fox germany muffler is awesome - it sounds great without being too loud. When I took the car in for emissions a few months ago, this M119 runs so clean that it wasn’t even close to being near colorado limits, which are stringent.

A beautiful car in a seldom seen exterior color. Well kept. Should make for a fine road trip cruiser for the next owner.
