This 1993 Mercedes-Benz C280 Carlsson C36RS began life as a French-market C280 Sport. It was modified by Carlsson in period and remained registered in the South of France until the seller acquired the car in 2024. According to the seller, the car had been in storage since 2005. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Black Leather and powered by a Carlsson-modified 3.6L M110 inline-6 paired to a 722.4 4-speed automatic transmission. Carlsson upgrades include the 18” Carlsson Evo wheels with original caps, a Carlsson body kit, a Carlsson spoiler, Carlsson exhaust, Carlsson springs, Carlsson shift knob, and a 300mph Carlsson-branded cluster. Additionally this car touts Recaro ErgoMed front seats, Recaro OEM rear seats, and Alcon brakes. The seller reports service records prior to 2005 were lost in a house fire. As a result the seller committed to ensuring the C36RS was roadworthy for the sale with the following work performed: a comprehensive service and tune up, a new steering rack and shock, and a fresh alignment. This special W202 is offered by the current owner and seller out of Dublin, Ireland with factory literature, 2 keys, recent service records, and a Clean Ireland Certificate in the owner’s name.
The exterior is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) per the datacard with the hood and trunk receiving a repaint within 10 years as a result of clear coat failure in storage. Exterior features include a Carlsson body kit consisting of sculpted front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a fixed Carlsson spoiler. Rear badges have been added and the side skirts wear Carlsson badging behind the front wheels. The seller notes this car shows no rust.
Staggered 18” Carlsson Evo wheels wear Superia Sport All-Season tires measuring 245/35 up front and 265/35 in the rear with 2020 date codes noted. Carlsson center caps are shown for each wheel and aftermarket Alcon brakes from Carlsson improve stopping power. The wheels show some curb rash.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Leather (201) and accented by burl wood veneer. Period correct Recaro ErgoMed seats with electronic adjustability were added by Carlsson along with the steering wheel badge, shift knob, and gauge cluster. The external bolster on the driver side Recaro shows some wear in the finish. Additionally the veneer shows some fading and cracking in various areas. Options for this example include rear Recaro seats with larger bolsters, a power sunroof, automatic climate control, and cruise control. The seller notes the head unit will need to be replaced and the headliner is sagging.
The Sport steering wheel is trimmed in Black leather and features a larger diameter rim and grips for comfort. It frames a Carlsson 300mph cluster with readouts for coolant temperature, fuel level, RPM’s, and a digital odometer. Original mileage indicates 213k km (~132k mi).
Carlsson modifications increased displacement from 2.8L to 3.6L for the M110 I6. Estimated output when new after the Carlsson treatment was 280 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. The seller performed the following work after acquiring the car: a comprehensive service and tune up, a new steering rack and shock, and a fresh alignment.
