This 1994 Mercedes-Benz S500 shows California registration from new with just four owners and 71k miles on the odometer. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Gray Velour (968), power is provided by a 5.0-liter M119 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, heated front and rear seats, adaptive damping suspension with a self-leveling rear axle, a power rear sunshade, second-row climate control, ASR slip control and 18” AMG two-piece wheels. Maintenance performed in March 2023 included new Michelin tires, new brakes, a new window regulator and a new gas actuator. Full service history from new is included. This S500 is now offered for sale by the selling dealer in Beverly Hills, California with the original window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) and features matching lower body cladding with chrome trim lining the windows and beltline. Exterior equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, power adjustable and heated door mirrors, a heated windshield washer system, headlamp wiper/washers, remote central locking and soft-close doors. The exterior is in good condition with no signs of rust or damage and the paint is believed to be original.
The car rides on 18” AMG BBS Aero II two-piece wheels which come wrapped in a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires showing 2023 date codes. The wheels show no signs of curb rash or damage and were recently refinished by the seller. The factory 8-hole alloy wheels are included with the vehicle. Optional equipment includes Adaptive damping suspension along with a self-leveling rear axle.
The seats are trimmed in Gray Velour (968) which is also found on the door panels and lower dashboard while dark gray leather accents the interior with Burl Walnut wood trim found on the center console, dashboard and door panels. Both front and rear seats are heated with the front seats including multicontour seat backs. Interior amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC, a power rear sunshade, cruise control, Bose audio, an integrated car phone and a power tilt/telescope steering column. The wood trim shows no signs of cracking with very few signs of wear throughout the interior. A new window regulator was installed in March 2023.
The leather wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer which sits alongside a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, oil pressure and coolant temperature. Digital instrumentation includes an outside temperature sensor along with a digital odometer which currently shows just 71k miles.
This W140 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine which is factory rated at 315 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. A new gas actuator was installed by the seller in March 2023.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates with California registration from new along with regular service visits, and no accidents or damage reports. The car was ordered by Dr. Frederick Flick whose family owned the largest share of the Daimler Benz corporation at the time. The original window sticker is included with the vehicle and shows an original MSRP of $103,285. This S500 is now offered for sale by the selling dealer in Beverly Hills, California with the original manufacturer’s literature, the factory wheels, full service history, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title.
Walk-around and driving videos have been provided by the seller below.
For many, the W140 is the ultimate incarnation of the S-Class, highlighting the dedication to luxury, build quality and technology. This example came highly equipped with the seldom-seen velour interior along with a host of optional features. First purchased by a member of the Flick family, who at one point owned the largest share of Daimler-Benz, this S500 shows California registration from new with a clean history and excellent condition. The cherry on top is surely the addition of the rare two-piece AMG BBS Aero II wheels which fit the 90s Sacco styling perfectly. For a collector looking for an unmodified and truly unique W140, this S500 may be as good as it gets.

MSRP over $103k in 1994 was a real heavy hitter! No wonder the guys family owned majority share of Diamler at the time. Incredible W140! Looking forward to watching the end of this one.

Hi, tomorrow is the final day. 😊 and I am really curious who's going to be the lucky winner. If possible, would be nice to see a cold start of this beauty, opening/closing of the sunroof, closing/opening of the rear sunshade. If you can get to it @ferrari1971 thanks in advance
@Growingupin80s , Yes I will get it tomorrow. The armrest houses the handset for the telephone.

The W140 is the sweet spot for me. I find the W126 bit old in driving dynamics and the W220 plastic with a blah design.

I know the people who have worked on this car, it has been to the best Mercedes techs here in Los Angeles. I had the opportunity to purchase this car last year. Unfortunately had to pass it up due to limited space in my warehouse. Good luck to the seller. Truly a unique car.

I would be nice to have pics from the following: fuel tank differential transmission oil pan engine oil pan front and rear breaks and suspension Thanks
@Herbie , yes I will post them by this weekend. Let me know if there are any pics in particuliar that you need.
Are you still going to post pictures from the underbody? It would be very helpful. Thanks
@ferrari1971 Thank you.
@AmpeliaAMG , Owners warranty info in his name as well service records from Palm Springs Mercedes and other misc documents. He passed away in 10/2006 and gifted the car to his Chauffeur . The address listed on the documents was at the Vintage Club in a 20,000 sq ft house and he was worth $6.1 billion when he passed so it was safe to assume he could afford to maintain the car. I will post the service invoice with the wiring harness replacement at 31kmi.
Is there any other documentation tying this vehcile to the Friedrich Flick family? Any idea if the bio degradable wiring harness has been replaced? Nice to see a W140 that is not black.

@@Vlad600sel , I purchased these wheels from Stathios and with shipping and fees it was $3,400. Plus it cost $1,500 to refinish them and the Michelin Pilot sport 4s we're around $1,400. So they were an expensive addition. $6,300. But they transform the look of the car.

@ferrari1971 Thank you.
@Herbie , I have 1 remote that works and 1 regular key. Yes, the cd changer works. Bluetooth can be added internally to the stock head unit for $200 which works very well while retaining the original look. I will submit underneath photos.
Do you have all original keys that came with the new car? Do the 2 keys with the remote work? Does the CD player work? Do you have pictures from under the car? Thank you!
@CarCrazy24 , yes the original 16in forged 8 hole wheels come with the car. No tires.
Very nice! Does it come with the OEM wheels too?
Additional detail photos have been added to the gallery. Thank you.
@Herbie It does look ok in other pictures as mentioned however on a 140 I had, the airbag needed tightening on the right side and the gap closed right up. I presume from removing wheel/ cluster for a bulb change. There is a hole on both left and right rear sides of the steering wheel. Later found out wheel doesn’t have to come off for cluster removal.

Yes, I have submitted photos of the trunk and the wood grain. The undercarriage photos will be posted as well. If anyone has real interest, I would suggest a PPI. The mechanic I use is MBZ motors, hands down the best Mercedes repair shop in LA. They have serviced this car since I have owned it..
Do you have pictures from the underside of the car and the trunk?
@Vlad600sel , yes I purchased them from Stathios, a great and knowledgeable guy. I had them refinished and they came out very nice. This car is amazing that it has all original paintwork in excellent condition. I have had the car for 3 years and put around 7kmi on it driving from Santa Barbara to LA. This car had an impressive $103,285 MSRP which is about $210,000 today.
This car is amazing and the option list is awesome. I have never seen a US W140 with velour interior. GLWA

@Herbie I believe it’s just the angle, the center looks aligned on other photographs.

You would think the good Dr. would have sprung for the 600 just because he could, and it would have been a cool statement piece given the connection. Nevertheless, this is one sweet ride. GLWA
The steering wheel in picture # 36 has a large gap between the airbag cover. Any explanation for this?
Nice Are the wheels you bought here ?
