Description mentions 2019 Michelins, but photos show older Dunlops. Which is accurate?
I have not seen the rear seat entertainment like that in a pre-facelift 221, let alone that center Command module. Very cool, must be RoW spec or something. Are the wheels OEM?
It's hard to know what's what in the enthusiast car market these days. Yet I know one thing for sure, if any car is worth all the money, it's this one. It ticks pretty much every possible box with authority, and that warranty is just a mountain of cherries on the Sundae. If it was any color other than black I don't think I could help myself (I've sworn off black cars). But honestly, I have every confidence it will hammer for more than I want to pay anyways, it's just too good. Every S65 you see has some kind of story, usually several. This one has none. As they say, go find another.
What a truly gorgeous example this is. Photos are also very easy on the eyes. GLWA
You would think the good Dr. would have sprung for the 600 just because he could, and it would have been a cool statement piece given the connection. Nevertheless, this is one sweet ride. GLWA
This listing is just a flat out clinic of great taste by the seller, right down to the the R.O. and the Sub C. So wish I was in the market
The stock downpipes include a cat and an O2 sensor if I'm not mistaken. If these parts eliminate those elements, how is the CEL avoided without an ECU mod?
It looks like the passenger front & driver's rear are each missing a lug bolt. Is that right or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Beautiful specimen, GLWA
This beauty deserves way better than the last go-around. GLWA, such a special car
Thanks for all the bids everyone.
@BruceJMS Thank you very much! It was definitely more work than I expected to gather all these photos etc, but it's well worth it for prospective buyers to see the total package and leave nothing to the imagination. Cheers
This is probably not something most would notice, but I wanted to point out picture 187 shows a small trim plug missing from the rear driver's side door. I had never sat in, let alone slept in, the back seat so I never knew that was missing until I had these pictures taken. I sourced a new piece and the door is complete now.
Hello everyone and thanks for checking out my E55 auction. This is a great example of a great car and it's been more fun than I even expected. If anyone would like to inspect the car in person, I will do my best to make myself available. Let me know if there are any questions or requests for added photos etc. Thanks
This beauty is impossibly cool. GLWA
This has to be the most comprehensive refresh I've seen on a 221 600, and I look all the time. Kudos to whoever undertook this work to keep the big girl dominating interstates for years to come. GLWA

This thing is intense. I am not a Diesel sedan lover, but there is a lot of want just based on the condition.
I will never understand how someone can go buy a car like this, one specifically suited to long & luxurious high speed adventures.... and then just not drive it. I will however continue to respect it. Were it not for people like that to keep these rare birds maintained and pampered, they wouldn't be available in mont condition all these years later for the bargain enthusiasts to scoop up and enjoy GLWA
Some undercarriage shots would be helpful here, if it was actually a California car for the vast majority of it's life it should be pretty nice. The 99's are coveted for their rarity and last of the line status, even though they are merely leftover 98's in actuality. This one looks a little rough around the edges, but it's still relatively low mileage and a great detail would fix a bunch of the issues you see at first glance. Madera Concepts can fix the center console wood which I highly recommend. Long may the M120 reign, the greatest production V12 of all time in my opinion. It doesn't have the peak numbers of the sports cars, but it has a power band flatter than Kansas and it's built like a brick shithouse. It's happy to run very hard all day long and it will never let you down. Of all the W140 maintenance bills I have paid, nothing was ever related to an engine failure of any kind. GLWA
I had typed a longer post, waxing poetic about this car, my favorite Mercedes-Benz model of all time. It disappeared when I had to login. Bummer. GLWA, these are incredibly special cars and quite rare to find this nice. A high-water mark in engineering prowess from another era, never to be repeated.
Dear Lord, what a special car. It's a strange feeling to have no clue what a car will hammer for, yet know it will be worth every penny no matter the number.
192k miles and look at that drivers seat. Amazing. Scarcely a sign of wear. GLWA
I would drive the wheels off this and save the restoration work for the next owner when prices are high enough that it makes sense. I think you could still drive it for free for a couple years, and have a hell of a time doing it.
Off the charts sinister, this thing is awesome. GLWA
I cot look at time capsules like this all day. Amazing
The pics are as beautiful as the car, stunning.
These things are so choice. Whoever did the write-up nailed it, it's basically a 4 door 911 or Corvette except somehow more reliable (and yes I know that's saying something). As I have pointed out elsewhere, the big difference I notice on these things is the weight. Yes they are substantially down on power vs the M113K, but they're also substantially down on weight and things which will break in the long-run. For daily driving and fun in the twisties it's a really hard combo to beat. I'm very much looking forward to the weather playing nice here in CT so I can get mine back out and put some s/miles on. Kudos on the brake upgrade by the way. The stock units work fine, but they aren't lookers. Maybe that's why the factory hid them behind the monoblocks. This setup looks wonderful. GLWA
