The car is finished in Brilliant Silver (744) and features a power-operated glass sunroof with tilt function, headlight wipers, a power antenna, and dual-pane insulated side windows. Rarer options for this S420 also include Xenon headlamps and Parktronic. The clean Carfax report indicates an accident-free history and detailed photos are included in the gallery.
Stock 16” wheels wear Michelin tires measuring 235/60 at all four corners with 2013 date codes shown. The tires are noted to show some cracking around the sidewalls and should be replaced before road use. The car is equipped with Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), and stopping power is provided by anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin is upholstered in Gray Leather (268) along with matching carpets and walnut veneer on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include multi-contour seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, soft-close doors and trunk, power-adjustable heated front seats with memory, an electrically adjustable steering column, and velour carpet floor mats.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, an analog clock, fuel gauge, and a combination gauge indicating oil pressure, coolant temperature, and instant fuel economy. The digital odometer indicates 114k miles.
The 4.2-liter M119 V8 features dual overhead camshafts along with four valves per cylinder and produced 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The included Carfax report shows 58 service records and the dealer notes they replaced the fuel pump and filter prior to listing for sale.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates since new. This LWB S420 is offered for sale in Staten Island, NY with original literature, two keys, recent records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Kansas title.
The final-year W140 S-Class occupies a special place in Mercedes-Benz history, representing the end of an era when the brand’s flagship sedan was engineered with almost excessive attention to refinement, durability, and presence. This 1999 S420 Long Wheelbase captures that appeal well, offering classic W140 proportions, V8 power, and the kind of road presence that still feels substantial today. This example is made more compelling by its desirable equipment, including the rare Parktronic option, xenon headlamps, rear self-leveling suspension, and multi-contour seats. These features help elevate the car beyond a standard S420 and speak to the high-spec, luxury-focused character that made the W140 such a benchmark in period. Showing 114k miles with a clean history, this S420 presents as a usable flagship rather than a museum piece. For buyers who appreciate the traditional Mercedes-Benz formula; long-wheelbase comfort, understated authority, and overbuilt engineering. This late-production W140 offers a compelling mix of specification, presence, and everyday usability.

Fair enough @seller. I feel that if you invest $3-400 in a MB PPI from a local independent and post it here, you'll probably increase the price you get for the car by thousands. Otherwise, it's just a lot of questions for people.@mikelaca no I don’t have measurement$500 bid placed by @Adissit1972
@seller Do you have brake measurements to see useable life left on pads and rotors?Nice car! I had W140s before and miss them. Does the power locks all work? Any idea when the vacuum pump (under the rear seat) was replaced. There is separate pump for soft close in the trunk. I think it timed out a some point, reset the fuse in the trunk to see if the pump works back up again.@mikelaca https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS1mkIeEhv0 not sure why soft close doesnt work, I will take a deep look what can be issue@seller are you able to post a video showing all four windows going up and down, front and rear parking sensors working and all four doors soft closing?@stonecloser the way you feel comfortableShould I win may I arrange my own transport or come pick it up myself?$250 bid placed by @stonecloser
One correction I spotted... This baby has the optional ESP! Which is a game changer compared to ASR. From my limited research/shopping only the 600s had ESP standard. I know with w210s(1999 model year) ESP was standard on the E430 and optional w my E320. I'm positive somebody, more of an expert than me, on the w140 can clarify. This definitely is the most loaded spec I've ever seen on a S420. I think I may just have to man up and bid!!!@citycat I will definitely check it out, thanksPretty car. Silver is timeless. Looks like soft-close isn't working, judging by the trunk lid. You can pull Fuse #9 to reset it. GLWTA
