This 2001 Mercedes-Benz ML55 AMG was sold new at Higginbotham Automobiles out of Jackson, Mississippi to a Texan resident where it remained under the first owner until 2025 when it was acquired by the current owner. Finished in Black (040) over Black Exclusive leather (561A), power is provided by a 5.4-liter V8 driving all four wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes xenon headlamps, 18″ AMG wheels, factory AMG bodykit, power-adjustable heated front seats, spare tire carrier in trunk, cruise control, Bose audio, and a lockable safe located beneath the front passenger seat. The most recent service performed in preparation for the sale was an oil change and a key FOB battery. This ML55 AMG has 72k miles and is now offered on behalf of the seller out of Douglasville, Georgia with a spare tire and cover, original AMG floor mats, one key, manufacturer's literature, original paint, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Massachusetts title.
The truck is finished in Black (040) and is equipped with an AMG body kit consisting of revised bumpers, side skirts, and wheel arch flares. Additional exterior features include fog lights, xenon headlamps with washers, a power sunroof, roof rails, and a factory exhaust with dual AMG-stamped outlets. The seller notes all original paint on this W163 and provides paint meter readings in the gallery. The headlights are both original and remain clear with only slight signs of crazing. The seller notes small spots of touchup on the rear bumper, rear quarter panel, and rear driver door. Rock chips were all professionally filled in with touchup paint at the front. Original glass is photographed throughout with darker tint on the rear half of the car and high-percentage UV reflective tint at the front including the windshield. One of the rear windows does not vent open.
Factory five-spoke 18″ AMG wheels wear Hankook Ventus ST tires measuring 295/40 on all four corners and show 2022 date codes. The seller included photos of the tread on each tire. Braking is provided by factory painted red calipers clamping discs at all four corners and the seller has provided detailed photos covering the condition of both the rotors and pads. The factory spare wheel and tire are located in the rear cargo space along with the cover. The seller notes no suspension issues during the driving video.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Black Exclusive leather (561A) along with matching door panels and carpets. Ebony burl walnut wood veneer accents the center console, doors, and steering wheel. Equipment includes power-adjustable heated front seats, driver’s seat memory, cruise control, air conditioning, Bose audio, and a lockable safe located beneath the front passenger seat. All front and rear headrests are included and the rear cargo area is equipped with the factory spare tire and cover. The original floor mats included are embroidered with ML55 AMG. All electronics reportedly function as designed including A/C and heat. The seller demonstrates the flat loading floor and all the rear seat articulations in the gallery. The shifter knob has some crazing in the veneer and there is a piece of plastic that can be heard intermittently rolling in the sunroof area on very hard turns.
The wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel frames instrumentation consisting of a white faced AMG-branded 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. Digital readouts for outside temperature and time are located on each side with all pixels in working order. The digital odometer shows 72k miles with linear Carfax mileage pings throughout the car’s history.
The twin-spark 5.4-liter M113 V8 produced 342 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed 722.6 automatic transmission. The most recent service in preparation for the sale includes an oil change and a key FOB battery. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below detailing the condition of the suspension components and hardware. This car never had the chance to drive through a Massachusetts winter with the current owner, so it has not seen snow as it has lived in Texas the majority of its life.
The Carfax report lists 28 service history records and registration in Texas until summer of 2025. This ML55 AMG has 72k miles and is now offered on behalf of the seller out of Douglasville, Georgia with a spare tire and cover, original AMG floor mats, one key, manufacturer's literature, original paint, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Massachusetts title.
The seller has included the following videos:
There’s something about an early 2000s black on black AMG that just works. Most W163 AMG cars were silver or travertine. Black seems to be uncommon and incredibly sought after since… I mean, just look at it. The AMG modified bumpers and wide body kit in 040 gives it a menacing presence as this was hunting down BMW’s X5 4.6is. Thus began the sport SUV wars that are raging today and have consumed the market. Behold, this is genesis. This example sports clean original paint and low miles for a W163. Considering the original floor mats (unobtanium nowadays), extraordinary condition of the headliner and interior pillar trim, complete interior, dry climate owned, color combo, and one owner until 2025, this is a wonderful example and a great candidate for any youngtimer collection. The AMGs feel so buttoned down and have yet to hit their peak in the market. Super SUVs from this era like Cayennes, X5s, and Land Rovers are all mostly headaches to own (as much as we adore them). The 722.6 transmission paired with the tough 4MATIC system and the 5.4 M113 make these the most reliable of the bunch – trust us, we’ve owned all of the above. You just can’t go wrong with this car and it’s proven its reliability by driving down to Atlanta, Georgia from Boston just last week…

Welcome everyone to the auction of this VERY nice ML55 AMG! This is arguably one of the easiest cars I've had the pleasure of shooting as its totally unapologetic and just a straight, clean 040 Black W163. It photographed soooo well and looks as good in person as it does the photos. Not a lot of them came in Black and it's a pleasure to see them pop up in this color combination sporting low miles and with original paint. This is a friend's car I'm helping sell which he drove down to Atlanta, Georgia from Boston just a few weeks ago. We're happy to report nothing happened on the way down and that trip was a good enough sign to me that the car was ready to hit the market. I looked it over and found some a few inches of curb rash (which I fixed) and that was about it. Pretty shocking for a 24 year old car -- most need a few things but not his. This is a very well taken care of example that has been garage kept its entire life. The paint meters as original and it drives fabulously. A W163 is pretty vocal when something is wrong with it and this example was as quiet as a church mouse. I logged about 100 miles in the car for a shake down run to make sure I wasn't missing anything and it's turn key ready to go. I'll be around to answer any questions! I have the car available for showings as well. I'm open for phone calls or Facetime if needed. Let me know what you need and I'll get it.@Cambam I mean... you can't do much better than this.I need a daily lol.$10,000 bid placed by @Cambam
