This 2005 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG was purchased new by the original owner from Mercedes-Benz of Escondido and remained under their stewardship until March 2022. Finished in Black (040) over Charcoal Leather (251), power is provided by a supercharged 5.4-liter AMG V8 mated to an AMG SpeedShift five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes AMG-tuned Airmatic Dual Control suspension with adaptive damping, multicontour AMG sport front seats, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon Logic7 surround sound system, a power glass sunroof, Bi-Xenon headlamps with active curve illumination and Keyless-Go. Recent maintenance includes a full fluid flush, valve cover gaskets, oil filtering gaskets and a new Airmatic strut. This E55 shows registration exclusive to California since new is now offered for sale by the current owner in Milpitas, California with two keys, original manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features AMG body styling including a sculpted front air dam with black mesh intakes, sculpted side skirts, sculpted rear apron and AMG stainless-steel exhaust tips. Exterior equipment includes Bi-Xenon headlamps with active curve illumination, a power glass sunroof, rain-sensing wipers and power adjustable mirrors with an auto dimming driver side mirror. The exterior shows no signs of rust or damage with minor rock chips appearing around the car.
18” AMG dual-spoke alloy wheels wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires front and Pilot Super Sport tires rear measuring 245/40 and 265/40 respectively. Ventilated brake discs are mounted on all four corners with 8-piston calipers up front finished in silver with black AMG lettering. The AMG-tuned Airmatic Dual Control suspension allows for adjustable ride height with the adaptive damping system allowing for adjustable stiffness.
The cabin is trimmed in Charcoal Leather (251) and features Bird’s Eye Maple wood trim lining the center console, dashboard and door panels. The front multicontour sport seats are heated and feature 10-way power adjustability with three-position memory for both passenger and driver. Interior features include Keyless-Go, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon Logic7 surround sound system, a 6-disc CD changer, an alcantara headliner, a power rear sunshade and AMG door sills. The chrome finish on the push start button has peeled and the seller notes that the headliner is beginning to sag in the rear, the side mirror switch is currently not functioning, and the sun visors are stiff.
This W211 is powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter AMG V8 producing 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque which is sent to the rear wheels through an AMG SpeedShift five-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance in September 2022 included a full fluid flush of all systems including an oil and oil filter change. Other maintenance items include new valve cover gaskets, oil filter housing gasket and a new driver side Airmatic strut. Earlier in March 2022 the car received all new spark plugs. The seller notes that the passenger side header has a leak as well as a license plate warning light that is improperly on. The hood struts are reportedly beginning to weaken and should be replaced soon.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates along with regular dealer service visits with no accidents or damage reports. The current owner has included service documents dating from 2017. This 2005 E55 AMG is now offered for sale by the current owner with two keys, original manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title.
A driving demonstration video has been included by the seller.
After the success of the W210 E55, AMG needed to turn up the performance for the W211 to attract new attention; and turn up the performance they did! By fitting a helical supercharger and intercoolers, AMG was able to increase the output of the M113 by over 100 horsepower and reach a whopping 516 lb-ft of torque. This super-sedan was able to reach 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and claimed the title of world’s fastest sedan in 2003. Combined with an Airmatic Dual Control suspension, the W211 E55 was able to beat nearly any car off the line and cruise at triple-digit speeds all while maintaining a level of ride comfort that was up to the highest of Mercedes-Benz standards. This example shows nearly 200k on the clock, but given the reliability of the M113K and 722.6 transmission, it’s hardly a worry. The car was meticulously maintained by its first owner who drove it for nearly 17 years and given the proper care should provide some of the best performance-per-dollar of any car on the market for years to come.

@SFNBNZ I realize it's a different model, but I recently purchased a 135K-mile S55 AMG on this site and my only regret is a 7-mile commute. Wish it was 70. Congrats!! Hope you enjoy this one to the fullest.

Also worth mentioning, not all E55s are the same. It took me over 1 year of searching literally day and night to find one that was clean and well-cared for. I test drove over 10 of them and almost every single one was either molested/abused or highly neglected. A cousin of mine recently bought one with under 120k miles. And although it had every performance mod you could do - it took an electrical crap just recently for it being neglected in certain areas by previous owners. I don’t think I will ever find one in this condition again. I am confident this car has not even reached it’s half-life.
@justshay couldn’t agree more! Although, every car has it’s own market and fans. I have owned over 30 enthusiast-type german cars in the last 3 years. This is, without a doubt, the best car I have ever driven. And with almost 200k! It literally tears me apart to let this go. But such is life!
@thembmarket thanks guys
These cars are so undervalued. It amazes me that e36 BMW M3s and e39 M5s are starting to appreciate more than the w211 E55. It is literally one of the best cars ever made. Excited to see where this goes in the next few hours
Additional photos displaying paint meter readings and the headliner have been added to the gallery.
The folks at theMBmarket are going to upload the photos for us.
@Ohai yes! Sorry. MB market doesn’t give me an option to upload photos that I can see. I reached out to them to see if they can upload. If you want, you can send me your info and I can send it to you directly.

Hey there folks, today is the last day of the auction! I will try to answer any questions and address any concerns as quickly as I can. May your wallets be as fast as the m113 kompressor!
$6,550 bid placed by @Qualules
@thesheikh -- Thank you for that!
@Qualules just checked with the local MB Indy shop, they quoted less than $500 for everything including parts
If possible, can you please call your Indy Shop and get a BALLPARK cost for this? I'm not expecting it to be an estimate, just would like to know if it's a $1,500 item or an $8,000 item
@Qualules absolutely, I would not mind getting those addressed post-auction or at the very least, aid in sourcing parts. This particular car has never had to worry about -20f weather as it has been in California since new, so I could see how that could be a point of concern.
Are you in a position to have the header and the side mirror switch replaced/repaired for an additional fee? Any idea of the cost of the header replacement? This has to impact backpressure and would seem to make the M/B motor down the road better. I'm very concerned about that as I live in a state where we experience -20f winters and if the header goes from -20 to operating temperature, that might be a problem with thermal expansion down the road.
@Heca10 of course!. Please send me a message with your contact info and I will reach out
Can we do a FaceTime tomorrow?
Hey folks, For post auction pickup/transport - since I will be out of the country on the 7th, I will still be point of contact. However, just in case, I will have the title pre-signed and one of my relatives can help with physical logistics if the car needs to be picked up while I am gone. There will be no need to wait for me to come back on the 20th to complete the transaction. Some things I have found helpful based on my past auctions from this auction and other ones like it, I find the following methods to be the simplest and easiest: For payment: cash, cashier’s check, wire, Zelle, and/or Cash App For pickup: Auction winner physically coming to get the car or using a transporter to pick the car up for them. For transporters, I have a transport broker that I can recommend that I have used for the last several years that has helped myself, many of my colleagues, friends, family, and clients. They give free quotes and have always helped me find the most reasonable rate to tow/transport a car no matter the distance. Hope this helps!
@Ohai header leak is a no issue according to the MB mechanic I bought it from and my Indy shop mechanic - just noise. You can hear it in the test drive video. This might sound strange, but it grew on me and I personally like it, gives it a muscular characteristic. SBC - not to my knowledge, and I have not had any issues with it in my ownership.
How much of an issue is the header leak? Has the RF air strut been replaced? Lastly, any work on the SBC done? Thanks in advance!
That’s awesome! Thanks for the follow up. I’ll be keeping an eye on the bids as the auction proceeds.
@Fatjake I shared the auction link in an online E55 AMG group. Nick Conforti commented, “As a very high mileage AMG owner, I can say this one looks great for 200k miles and the service records are a great piece of mind! Would make for a great daily driver…Currently have 462k miles on our 2003 E55 and it’s our daily driver 💪🏻”.

@Fatjake the m113 is one of the best, most reliable, and longest lasting motors that Mercedes-Benz ever built. I personally know several owners who have surpassed 400,000 miles. It is not uncommon to see folks on the forums with m113k engines that are well into the 300s. Here is a video from a popular Youtuber who talks a bit more about the m133k platform: https://youtu.be/Gb32BwQMbho
How much more life does this car have? Genuinely curious. Thank you
Thanks for bidding @dirtynails44 ! Hope yours will Be clean if you end up becoming the next owner of this amazing machine!
$5,500 bid placed by @dirtynails44
Hello MB enthusiasts, I am excited to represent this awesome example of a W211 E55. It’s no secret that the E55 is one of the best MBs ever built – an overall well balanced vehicle in design, performance, and luxury. It took me over a year of searching day and night to find an E55 that had good maintenance history and WASN’T overly-modded, throttle-abused, or neglected. This car has been an absolute pleasure to experience. This chassis coupled with the the M113k makes this car so wonderful to own and I am sure will delight the next enthusiast. I will be as transparent as possible in answering any questions throughout the auction and will do my best in addressing any comments. If you are local to the area, please feel free to contact me and I would be delighted to show the car or offer a test drive. For anyone out of town, I am happy to do a virtual/FaceTime appointment. Also, just a quick side note, I will be out of the country from Jan 7th - Jan 20th. Thanks for looking and bidding, thesheikh
