This 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG was delivered new at Mercedes-Benz Manhattan in New York, NY and then shipped immediately to Florida by its first owner where it lived until May 2018. The car is finished in Black (040) over Anthracite Leather (801) and is powered by a 6.2-liter DOHC V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential (LSD). Features include the P30 AMG Performance Package, forged 20″ AMG wheels, bi-xenon headlights, Keyless-GO, power-adjustable heated and ventilated dynamic front seats with memory, a rear-view camera, Night View Assist, COMAND with navigation, an electric rear roller blind, and a Premium sound system. Now showing only 36k miles, recent services include a full fluid flush for the brakes, rear differential, transmission, and engine oil along with an A/C and transmission service. This C216 is now offered by the seller with two keys, manufacturer’s books & literature, dealer receipts for recent service, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Louisiana title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features a pillarless coupe design. Factory body work includes aggressive AMG-specific bumper covers, side skirts, and a rear diffuser with quad exhaust outlets. Additional features consist of bi-xenon headlights with cornering illumination, fog lights, and an electric sunroof. All body panels are original with no signs of previous paint work as supported by an accident-free Carfax report.
Staggered twin-spoke AMG 20″ wheels are specific to the P30 AMG Performance Package and mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires measuring 255/35 up front and 275/35 out back. The tires reportedly have less than 3k miles on them since installation. The car is equipped with Active Body Control suspension and silver-finished AMG-logo calipers with cross-drilled rotors at each corner.
The cabin is upholstered in Anthracite Leather (801) with a designo anthracite Alcantara headliner, black carpets, and Burl Wood veneers on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. The stitched leather and rich burl wood are accented with brushed metal and polished chrome buttons laid out aesthetically across the cabin. Additional features include power-adjustable heated and ventilated dynamic front seats with memory, automatic climate control, Night View Assist, COMAND with navigation, a Harman-Kardon Logic7 sound system, an electric rear roller blind, and Keyless-GO.
The multi-function steering wheel frames digital instrumentation including a 200-mph speedometer, an AMG-branded 8k-rpm tachometer, and additional gauges displaying fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer displays just over 36k miles, along with digital readouts for various assistance programs, outside temperature reading, and infotainment menus.
The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter M156 V8 was factory rated at 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The engine features an aluminum block and head, along with port fuel injection. The P30 AMG Performance Package raises the top speed limiter to 186-mph.
Factory equipment includes an AMG sport exhaust with chrome quad outlets below the rear diffuser. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission with a factory Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) as an added feature of the P30 AMG Performance Package.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration and service history in Florida, Maryland, and Louisiana. A total of 27 dealer service records are also recorded on the provided Carfax which also shows linear mileage updates since new. This CL63 will also come with two keys, manufacturer’s books & literature, dealer receipts for recent service, and a clean Louisiana title.
Videos are provided below showing a detailed walk around and start up of the car.
Boasting an original MSRP north of $150k when new in 2008, the CL63 AMG P30 was not your average land yacht. The C216 chassis still hails as the flagship big-body pillarless coupe from Mercedes-Benz between 2007-2014. Various specs from Mercedes could be had including a non-AMG V8 all the way to a 12-cylinder AMG monster. Placed perfectly in the midst was the CL63 AMG which provided all of the luxury and road presence one could afford while still offering an exhilarating driving experience topped off from a symphony of quad-exhaust outlets. The 6.2-liter M156 is capable of sending this 4,800lb coupe to 60 mph in a mere 4.3 seconds and is also hailed as one of the most reliable and robust power plants to come from AMG. Today, the CL63 remains one of the most venerable offerings from Mercedes and presents a huge value proposition for anyone searching for the perfect AMG in today’s market. Providing the utmost luxury with aggressively smooth body lines, this pillarless coupe has yet another leg up from the rest with the highly sought after AMG P30 Performance Package. It's also worth noting that as a P30 car, this AMG is factory equipped with LSD. As an all-original example with an accident-free, well-maintained history, and only 36k miles, this CL63 should prove to be a smart buy as values continue to rise.

Good morning watchers and bidders, Due to the nature of my business I will be in and out this afternoon but will make every effort to reply as quickly as possible to any comments or questions. I believe the reserve is reasonable and hopefully will be met and hopefully exceeded on this low mileage well maintained example. I will also let you know when the reserve is met, assuming that it will be. Who knows?!
@Armenian Sorry, so it’s certainly possible that it was changed but is original Mercedes glass.
@Armenian I know of no changed windshield, and I never noticed the lack of the Daimler sticker. Those can be bought on eBay. The glass appears to be OEM as shown in the added photo. Thanks for your question!
A photo of the Mercedes-Benz logo-branded windshield glass has been added to the gallery.
@static50 I just noticed that there is no "Daimler-Benz" sticker on the windscreen, can you advise if windshield has been changed and if so is it "OEM" or aftermarket, as I had to change my S550 windshield but had to use an aftermarket due to my insurance carrier requirements; later I found out that aftermarket replacements are 90% Chinese that are supposedly to MB specs. Thanks
A couple of things I forgot. Bear with me! The car came with the original AMG floor mats. They’re in pretty good shape without the foam backing crumbling. I decided to buy an additional set of OEM Mercedes C216 mats and put the front mats, which obviously get most of the wear, in the trunk. I left the rear ones in the back knowing nobody would be sitting back there. That’s why there’s a picture of the two front mats on the ground. Plus before the question is asked, I’ll give you the tire dates. Left rear 2020 (I imagine most people looking at this knows the tire was manufactured the 20th week of 2020) Right rear 4817 Left front 2017 Right front 2017 So the three tires from 2017 have less than 4,000 miles, and the left rear was replaced with a matching Continental tire due to a nail. Tires are excellent and good to go. Thanks to all again for your bids. Tomorrow is the day, and we’re getting lukewarm towards the reserve, which I will disclose assuming it’s met!

Sorry but let me address one more item mentioned in the MB repair bill from the copies in the above photos. The auxiliary cable in the glove box had lots of cracking on the insulation. The auxiliary cable is NLA from Mercedes. I decided to buy Gorilla tape and tape over the cover. I bought a Bovee 1000 Wireless Music Interface Adapter, and lo and behold, it works fine! So you have the ability to stream music from your iPhone!
I will mention that I just read again the description under the main heading and noticed a few omissions. In addition to the fluid changes mentioned, also the radiator coolant flush was performed, both valve cover gaskets, eight spark plugs, a repair to the sunroof that was a defective/broken windscreen deflector, and another oil and filter change which I asked not to do since it was done in March prior to my purchase. And don’t forget about the obligatory $100 wiper blades! The bill also references a vibration in the passenger door speaker that is only noticeable when listening to music with a lot of bass, which I almost never do. Listening to sports talk radio is almost all I listen to besides the music coming from the exhaust! The dealer estimate to fix this one minor vibration was shockingly absurd, so I will let the new buyer deal with it. I tried two independent shops and none were willing to put me on a schedule for a small job. To the best of my knowledge, that’s it. She’s ready to roll for many more miles! Thanks much.
@Mriddle77 Thank you again for your bid, and to all others!

@thembmarket Thanks for adding the second startup video. The first startup video was a booboo! I started the car without the iPad video recording! I’m not the most technologically savvy guy, so I started the car again and recorded. I wasn’t happy but was away from the car to record a more accurate cold start video. The second video, which was just added, is a true Cold Start video after the car was sitting in my garage for about three days. Thanks to all for your understanding and patience with my video shortcomings!
An additional video has been added to the listing.
@Cossie16valve Please contact me through the contact seller button at top of listing.
@Cossie16valve Thanks much for your comments and questions. Neither the previous owner, who I’ve become friends with, or myself have ever had a low coolant light or any ticking or any other unusual sounds upon cold start. There is a cold start video above after car sat covered in the garage for three days. Sounds normal and awesome! This debate about whether to proactively change the head bolts, even with a failure rate of probably <2%, is personal. My service advisor at MB in New Orleans, who I’ve used for 30 years, said he would leave it alone and change the oil every 4-5,000 miles as opposed to every 10,000 miles. And he loves doing expensive repairs! The engine number is 156984 60 024122. It would be one of the engines with the older head bolts. FCP Euro sells the head bolt kit for $331. A good indy can change without removing the heads and doing more work internally for about $2,000 labor. A friend of mine chose to do it and that was the cost. It’s a personal decision in risk assessment IMO, and others. Thanks much again and good luck in your decision as to whether or not to bid.

Seller, appreciate your transparent approach to service records, maintenance and potential issues (head bolts) regarding the M156 V8 engine. MB did update the head bolts with a more robust design on later built motors. To that end can you provide the engine serial number? Any issues with low coolant light warning or engine ticking at cold start up?

@Armenian No fluid changes were done to the ABC. The W221/C216 generation is not nearly as troublesome as the previous. My MB dealer says leave it alone. The receipt from MB lists the fluid changes, and the Carfax references the oil change prior to my purchase, I believe in March of this year. I had the transmission, brake, differential and radiator flush done. I’m not looking at the receipt now, just replying from memory. A/C was also serviced. Thanks for your question.
@Static50 you said you changed all the fluids, does that include ABC fluid flush? Can you be more specific which fluids were changed and is there record(s) to show dates and type fluids replaced? Thanks

Thanks much for the bids so far! The car is impeccably well kept. I have sold a car on the other big auction website, and some of the comments and questions can be exhausting! The quietness here I found unusual but refreshing, which is partly why I chose the MB Market to list it on. I’m available to answer any questions, and the car can be seen and driven if you’re in the New Orleans area. Good luck to all and keep the bids coming!
This car is an absolute beauty. Excellent condition as well, might have to play...

@Cossie16valve. The car came from Florida with the window tint. It’s actually good for preserving the interior but I’m personally not a fan of tint! It’s in great shape but it absolutely can be removed. Thanks for the questions and interest.
Good morning Thanks for your interest in this fantastic example of the CL63 with the hard to find P30 performance package. The car is in outstanding condition inside and out. No blemishes anywhere. The first question asked below is why sell so soon after buying. I own three other Mercedes and have owned at least 30 others over the years. This is my third C216 models. I’m 66 and still trying to figure out, for me, which one I prefer the most. I also have an S600 which my wife primarily drives. I’m about to have an opportunity to purchase a CL600, which is why I’m selling this car. This is a bad a** car and is in stunning condition. I think it’s a little too radical for me! I have another AMG car which can fulfill that void when this one leaves. The type of driving that I regularly do is better suited to a more, I hate to use the word floaty, compliant suspension with smaller wheels. It’s not that this car is uncomfortable, but it is designed for more high performance driving as opposed to commuting, in my opinion at my age! The question I will address before it gets asked is the head bolts have not been changed. I’m not sure that if I decided to keep it I would bother with it. I would change the oil and filter at 5,000 mile intervals instead of Mercedes suggested intervals. I personally believe the head bolt issue to be somewhat overblown with failure rates estimated to be less than 2-3%. I understand if you’re one of those unfortunate small percentage of people who might experience the failure it can be catastrophic, but changing them now can be done for under $3,000. It’s a personal choice I believe. A VMI is being added to show the service records as well as the detailed receipt from the Mercedes dealer showing the work I had done in planning on keeping it. I’m crazy about changing all fluids when I see no records of that being done, so whoever buys it will be comfortable knowing it’s all fresh. I’m not a dealer, just an avid Mercedes owner who tries different models and moves on pretty quickly. I didn’t plan on selling it this soon but I personally will be more comfortable in a more “old man’s version”! This is an outstanding example whose paint and interior are virtually flawless. If you’re looking for a CL63 I don’t believe there’s a finer example anywhere. I’ll do my best to answer any questions to the best of my ability. Thanks much for looking and don’t let this outstanding example get away!

Why are you selling after only 4 months of ownership? Can the window tint be removed?
$250 bid placed by @DrDominick
Oooo...I Like these. The 221 coupe is Sexy. One thing I've noticed, the tune in the S class equipped M156's is soft when it comes to throttle response... noticeably different from the E and C. A remap really does wake these up. One of my favourite engines in a proper S class chassis. Someone is going to have an awesome bunch of years ahead/don't understand why CO would want to let her go?!?
