This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is one of approxiately 25k units produced between 1974-85. It was originally ordered through Mercedes’ Stuttgart branch and completed in October 1983. Finished in Silver Blue Metallic (930) over Blue (252) leather, power comes from a 2.8-liter M110 inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes automatic climate control, tempomat cruise control, power windows, a Blue (9001) soft top, and rare, factory installed rear seats (“kinder seats”). This R107 was acquired by the seller approximately three years ago and is now offered with a removable hardtop, hardtop stand, electric hardtop hoist, a tool kit, a jack and spare tire, factory books and records, paint meter readings, a clean Carfax report, and a clean PA title.

This Euro spec 107 is finished in Silver Blue Metallic (930) and is fitted with a Blue fabric soft top. Exterior equipment includes a power-adjustable passenger side mirror, fog lamps, Euro headlights, and Euro bumpers which are slimmer than their US counterparts. A color-matched removable hardtop with stand is included and viewable in the gallery. A hoist to remove the hardtop will also be provided with the sale. Factory 14″ Bundt alloy wheels wear Goodyear Assurance tires measuring 195/70 all around with 2009 date codes. The Blue soft top is shown in the raised and lowered positions throughout the gallery as is the color-matched factory hardtop.

Interior surfaces are finished in Blue (252) leather with matching carpets, dash, door panels and kinder seats. Burl wood trim is present on the lower dash, center stack, and console. A dash cap is currently installed and the original Becker head unit has been replaced with an upgraded JVC unit. The seller reports that the A/C was recently charged and blows cold.

Gauges include a 160-mph VDO speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a six-digit odometer showing approximately 123k miles. Auxilary gauges include oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. 

The 2.8-liter M110 inline-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 182 horsepower when new.  A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Recent service includes replacement of the alternator in 2018.
