This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300E is a Sportline example that was first registered in Newark, Delaware, and it remained in Union City, New Jersey for the majority of its life. The car is finished in Nautical Blue Metallic (929) over Beige (275) leather and powered by a 3.2-liter M104 inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Features consist of a factory sport-tuned suspension, quick-ratio steering, factory Recaro seats in the front and rear, and a leather-wrapped sport design steering wheel and shift knob. While not in use, the car has been stored in a climate-controlled environment and regularly detailed. This W124 now shows only 36,709 miles and is offered with a clean, one-owner Carfax report, stamped and dated factory maintenance booklet, complete factory tool roll, two Mercedes-branded front seat covers, four keys, factory literature, and a clean New Jersey title.

The exterior is finished in Nautical Blue Metallic (929) with lighter lower cladding and black bumper trim. Sportline badges adorn the cladding of the front fenders to distinguish this example from other W124 sedans. Equipment includes a heated windshield-washing system with headlight wipers, as well as chrome accents, power mirrors, power sunroof with tilt function, dual exhaust outlets, and front and rear fog lights.

Factory Sportline 15” 8-hole light alloy wheels are mounted with 205/60 Michelin MXV tires wearing 2016 date codes. The Sportline features wider wheels and tires than the standard 300E versions. A full-sized spare wheel mounted with a Champiro 60 tire is stored below the trunk floor along with a complete factory tool roll. Braking is handled by discs at all four wheels, and Sportline equipment includes a sport-tuned suspension with a lowered ride height featuring shorter, stiffer springs, struts, anti-roll bars, and bushings.

The interior features split Recaro front and rear seats upholstered in Beige leather (275) with a matching lower dashboard, door panels, and carpeting, while Zebrano wood trim further accents the cabin. The upper dash is black along with a matching black, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob specific to the Sportline. Equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, folding rear headrests, cruise control, and a Becker Grand Prix 2000 head unit. Special order front seat covers with Mercedes branding are included with the sale along with Nautical Blue carpet floormats.

The 390mm Sport Design steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock, as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 36,709 miles.

The 3.2-liter M104 DOHC inline-six was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. In addition to a smaller diameter steering wheel, the Sportline features a quick ratio steering box.

The Carfax report displays no accidents or other damage and with linear mileage updates. Additionally, this Sportline is offered with a stamped and dated factory maintenance booklet, four keys, factory literature, and a clean New Jersey title.

The MB Market Insights

At first glance, this 300E may appear as the typical survivor-spec W124 but it's so much more underneath those sharp Sacco-era lines. A nod to an era when Mercedes produced only the highest quality automobiles meant to last a lifetime rather than a warranty period, the W124 is a legend in it's own right. Pair that formidable base with an enthusiast oriented Sportline trim level and an owner who's bent on keeping the car not only on the road, but in nicer condition than they bought it, and you have the perfect formula for a future classic. The vast majority of these cars trickled down through neglected ownership scenarios or have been driven well into the hundreds of thousands of miles and are still seen from time to time. Examples that have been loved, appreciated, and treated like this one are few and far between and with such high desirability, finding a pristine Nautical Blue Sportline is almost a perfect storm. The rich Zebrano wood trim in contrast with the Beige leather is enough to make us stop and stare. Coupled with the incredibly low mileage, stunning condition, and striking Nautical Blue paint, we imagine it would be very tough to top this Sportline.  We hope the next owner is just as excited as we are about this example and continues to keep it in such impeccable condition.

@AMG5pt4 amazing machine! Saw it and met you @ Legends in Monterey 2017 i believe? I wasn’t able to remove the battery to get to the date code on the harness. I photo’d the harness where I could in many places and removed the plastic cam cover at the front of the motor so you could see the condition of the harness and insulation as best as I could show it. As I did this I felt it between my fingers and checked for brittleness and or flaking. Everything felt good and as it should. Temperature controlled storage really makes a difference. Thanks again for your interest.

Upper/Lower wiring harnesses replaced and also the EHA wiring rebuilt?  Gorgeous car and the interior mushroom/beige is as good as I have seen, and mushroom leather is hard to keep nice.  Well preserved car.
