Beautiful SL. Congrats @wykim88!
Final day for the auction! Here for any questions and if you're local feel free to come see her- she's in wonderful condition. Happy Bidding!
@Vlad600selthank you! V12 TT last of an era! (I THINK)
@Mackdadaefrom my understanding the 2 issues on the CL65 are the coil packs and issues with the suspension. On this car neither are an issue. I haven't read that CL65 suffer from head bolt issues.
@bmccuen1i havent done it and it's not in the records I have so I would assume it hasn't been done. To be safe one could change it and budget for the work. Thank you!
Good Morning! Welcome to the auction- here for any questions. I plan on getting her up on a lift shortly and will post underside photos in the next few days. When the car was being serviced this summer I had a look underneath and she's really in great shape- nothing notable/leaking/rust underneath and will get detailed photos up in the gallery. Happy bidding!
Good Morning! Final day of the auction. I'm here for any questions and if you're local I'm available to show the car in person- she's a stunner in this color. Happy Bidding!
@Reillymc I didn't ask the dealer specifically about the windshield when I purchased it. They mentioned that they replaced it before I bought the car. Looked like an expensive replacement.... There is a receipt with the car from a Virginia annual inspection so maybe it was cracked and failed inspection with the state but I'm not sure. No cracks or chips now - looks great.
Adding date codes for the tires as well - 26/21 front and 36/21. The tires have <1k miles on them (nubs all around still :) thanks!
Good morning! Uploaded underside photos, service records from the coil pack(s) replacement along with service check up from the dealer. Also uploading receipt ($510) to replace the main battery which was struggling to maintain a charge on my trickle charger and needed replacement. At this point everything is done on the car and she's all ready to go! Happy bidding!
Good afternoon! Looking forward to the auction and here for any questions. I'll be uploading records, VMI and underside photos shortly. Both coilpacks were replaced less then 50 miles ago at my local MB dealership (Ray Catena) for a cost of ~$5,800 so that's all done. Here for any questions otherwise. Thank You!
@bigd great to connect last week. She's all packed up and ready to go! Just let me know when the shipper will arrive so I'm there. You can give them my number as well and I can help coordinate. Enjoy the car you're going to love it!
@small_Dsounds good! Thank you!
@small_DI tried to email you but think I'm hitting your spam filter. If you get a chance message me your full name and address and I'll get things goin! Thank you!
Congrats @bigD !!! Get ready for lots of attention (and burnouts!) You're going to love the car!
My storage guy thinks I'm nuts for selling for anything less then 100k but it's probably because he doesn't want to lose the monthly storage for it ;)
Reserve is met! Somewhat regrettably for me she'll sell today!
@SwissBliss this, the 300ce and your 560... that would be amazing!
@small_Dyes the prior owner replaced everything. I did the springs. Car rides incredibly well (especially for being lowered) zero noises and it's very tight.
@small_Dthat is the front torsion bar. Could use to be painted. Not structurally an issue. Could also be replaced with aftermarket for better performance. That one is OEM and they're not expensive or hard to replace.
@small_Dno I don't know the shop that did the work. There are 3 chips on the trunk clearcoat that will need to be touched up. Other then that the paint is in good shape.
@small_Dthe car was painted before I bought it so I would estimate ~5 years ago. The detailing was done about a year ago after the kit was finished and installed
@small_Dno coatings on it. It was detailed but with a traditional clay/wax etc. Since the car was detailed its been in storage so the paint looks good. Thank You!
@Smcase22 thank you! It was a FUN build and more fun to drive. People that know MB and cars in general go nuts when they see it. The winners going to have A LOT of fun :)
@cmaack25thanks man! Gotta say its bittersweet on the 300ce. I miss it but love seeing you use it!!! I'm gonna regret selling this one but but similar to the CE they need to be driven, enjoyed and seen in public. Keep the pics comin- I'm sure people love it down there!
I realized the other day that I have a pair of replica 500e fiberglass front wings/fenders that I decided not to mount as I like how it looks this way but if someone wants to blow the front out like a 500e I'm going to include them in the sale. Then the only thing is to widen the rear which is the hard part ;)
@Avvocato appreciate the comments. I have owned and do own over a dozen w124's and classic cars of this vintage and i can assure you that rust on the exhaust is normal for an old car and there is nothing unsafe about this car, frame, engine etc. It's unfortunate the amount of my time you've taken up on my auctions via multiple calls (where you rudely put me on hold several times) and demands for information. You also claimed to be a bidder on my 300ce and I don't see any evidence of a bid from you unless you're using another user name. I've spent hours taking photos, speaking with you on the phone and emails where you want to see my car collection in person. At this point Unfortunately I'm not interested in showing you my cars or speaking with you further about any of my auctions or responding to your comments here or in future auctions. It's clear you have some issue with me despite me bending over backwards to answer any and all of your inquires. As far as my cars i would suggest contacting the winner of the 300ce to see how satisifed he is with the description of the 300ce. Thank you and have a good day
1 day left! Here for any questions- uploaded the copy of the work done to rebuild the head unit, 2 amps and antenna from Becker Autosound in the last 2 photos. Luckily these guys are in my backyard and do amazing work with keeping OEM MB radios/amps/antennas alive! Really great folks that know how to work on these units!
@Avvocato yes I have the underside photos sent to MB market awaiting upload. I will also add more detailed videos of all functioning items. In one of the videos today you can see fully functioning sunroof (open, close, tilt) along with AC/heat along with ac temp, defrost and working buttons on the dash. In addition the video shows functioning directionals and lights/fogs/highbeam. I will take a video of the seat functions tomorrow but confirmed today that all functions work for both sides. Unfortunately I am unable to confirm that the engine s/n matches the data card as the car is an early 1992 build and the stamp is located under the manifold and would require the engine to be removed to view. Here is the data card and i also took a photo of the blank area where the engine stamp moved to later in the 1992 builds (it is blank so the engine S/N must then be in the inaccessible area) if someone knows an easier way to access the earlier stamp location im happy to dig around in there. The items that do NOT function are the horn and the canceling directionals, both of which are both related to the AMG steering wheel. The wire is there for the horn I just couldn't figure out how to retrofit the horn ring to the older wheel. The horn ring from the origional wheel will be included as i know both the horn and the signal cancellation can be retrofit. During the build I also replaced the directional stalk with a new unit. Happy Bidding!
@Boostin yes I uploaded yesterday and more today (little hooliganisim at the end of one of the vids :) think just waiting on MB market to upload.
Uploading a bunch of underside photos now along with a cold start, exhaust and brief drive. No issues on the underside other then the radiator support has rusted which ive seen on many of these. I will take a longer driving video and interior function video tomorrow as well. @eddiemaxthe build took awhile and while I was finishing this one I was also working on a 300ce that just sold here. Unfortunately have gotten too busy now back to the office/travel that I don't have much free time so selling a few MB's that I acquired during COVID. It's a shame really as they should be driven and enjoyed- I just won't have the time for the foreseeable future. Thanks!
@eddiemaxI have owned the car for about 2 years and put about 3 - 400 miles on it. The build took the better part of a year and 1/2 of the 2 years. It has been in climate controlled storage for most of my ownership.
@Avvocato yes similar to my last auction I will post complete photos of engine, transmission s/n, cold start, driving, and underside photos. I do not have the service records prior to my ownership. My understanding from the prior owner (an MB enthusiast) was that all service was complete and up to date. I do have the receipts from the paintwork and all parts added during my ownership. Since the prior work isn't documented if one wanted to replace the maintenance items I would budget for that. There have been no running issues during my ownership at all and to my recollection everything works. Ill confirm via video that all functions work. I will be headed up to my storage facility this week to get all the photos/videos and will post early this week. Happy bidding!
Also the AMG fittings that are required inside of the bumpers are installed. These haven't been manufactured in ages and if you had just the kit you can install it but the tops of the bumpers will be wavy without the correct fittings/supports beneath. Those parts are both here. The entire kit (before having everything painted cost more then the car..... :) I also sourced correct (used) euro headlamps with the yellow backgrounds and functioning wipers. I'll upload photos of these as well as pictures of the lights/fogs on. Thanks
@LuisPerezE92yes everything is genuine AMG. I will add photos of the stamps in each part. All of the parts are AMG OEM and were new when I had them painted along with all MB fasteners/bolts along with the correct foglamps with factory wiring/plugs.
@eddiemaxmorning, I don't have photos of the damage. The car was repaired and repainted before I purchased it. My understanding is that the damage happened on the skin of the drivers door. The drivers door was repaired and then later the owner had the entire car resprayed. I have a walk-around video being uploaded now and will have several more videos (driving, start up, underside) to upload as well. The car is straight and carfax lists the damage as minor so from what I can see/tell the drivers door was repaired. I did have to realign the door a bit after I purchased the car.
@JDubauthank you! Funny I bought the kit 1st knowing how rare they are NOS. I almost put it on my 300e and realized I would HAVE to have a v8 noise with that look. It sounds awesome.. Can't wait to film some vids!
Welcome to the auction! Here for any questions and the car can be seen in person! This was a fun build and the car sounds amazing. During the auction I'll upload driving, cold start, walk around videos and get her up on a lift and take photos of the underside. Happy bidding!
@cmaack25 congrats! Such a sweet car!!
Reserve is off! She'll sell today! Thanks all!
@SwissBlisas thank you! It was a blast to build and such a sweet looking car..
@vancouver I will look. I think I tossed them. If I do have them I'll put then in the trunk with the OEM wheels/tires.
2 hours left! I'm here for any questions. Happy bidding!!
Update for today. Digging in on the AC and it was previously converted to 134a. Usually there are stickers to show the conversion was done and there aren't so I assumed R12. We charged it with 134a and it's blowing cold (~34°) I also added receipts from the wheel refinishing/tires, the bodywork for the AMG restoration, suspension install and what manuals are with the car. I didn't keep the receipts from the service parts that I installed- I think I purchased everything from autohausAZ and it's all the standard replacement parts I purchased and installed. Both the engine and trans number plates are up in the gallery as well! To confirm the only non-functioning items on the car are the rear sunshade and the foglights that need to be wired to the headlight plugs. Thank You!
@avvocato thank you. I'll will have the trans serial number tomorrow. Need to get it back on a lift as it's too low to crawl under. Other answers for you- as of now the ac blows but not cold. It was working when I put it in storage so assume it leaked over the winter. I will see tomorrow if my mechanic can recharge it. If so I'll confirm it it's been charged or not. Under my ownership I personally replaced the cap, rotor, wires, injectors, plugs and oil. I will look for the invoices for the parts and post them. I also replaced all 4 tires and supplied/refinished the wheels. The OEM wheels and tires will be included in the sale. All guages, sunroof, windows, side mirrors, both headrests and all power seat functions work. All lights, switches, defrost, rear headrest switch etc work. The radio and antenna do work - I had it off for the drive. I can take a video of the radio and antenna functioning as well. The only things on the car that are NOT functioning at the moment - the ac blows but not cold, the rear sunshade works but the gear is stripped. Lastly I did not connect the foglamps but they are mounted (these are brand new lights) - some like to wire these to the city lights and some like to wire these to the fogs and/or driving lights. It is not hard to connect the fogs and the wiring/bulbs are there ready to be wired (I wired a set up on another w124 AMG and it's easy) I will look again tonight for any records I have but from what I recall I only have the owners manual etc. I did not service the belts as they look fine to me- I don't know when the belt was serviced last so I would budget for a belt replacement if the new owner prefers. Thank you and happy bidding!
@thembmarket thank you- apologies for the giggling wife behind the video she was struggling to keep from sliding around in the back seat while keeping the camera steady :)
@avvocato that is for the rear sunshade which does not work. The motor runs but the shade I believe has stripped a gear. The walk around video has the motor running which you'll hear when posted. I'll go through the paperwork tonight to see what I have.
@avvocato my understanding is that the 199 color code is the same with different names potentially based on the county of origin. Blue black being ths same as black pearl. Im working on the videos today and should have them up this evening. The cladding and AMG kit were painted 199 and match the rest of the car. I dont think i have the import docs as i purchased the car with a FL title as it was imported by the prior owner. Ill include photos of trans/engine as well in addition to the reciepts for the parts/service https://www.lastvin.com/vin/KB3ag2WD0NGAR79Vp
@ferrari1971 - thank you! It was fun to build. Now that the rain has stopped I'll post a few running and driving videos. With the new springs/shocks and control arms it drives really well- not too firm but certainly better then stock.. the manual shifts well- no issues. I've owned a few manual w124's and it always surprises me how well they shift- very precise and confident as it goes into each gear. It's no gated box but precise in a 90's German-engineered way :)
@f318 it is still R12 and it blows cold. I'll get a video with a temp guage and post it. Thank You
@993tats thank you! It's surprising how clean it is under there. I would certainly buy another car from Spain if it presented itself.. has been a great experience..Much different then the 190e 16v I brought from Maine... I'm in rust he*ll right now.. No rash anywhere else that I see- all of the cladding was removed, refinished and painted. In addition the front bumper insert was refinished and painted which also took a fair amount of work as it was scraped up. I decided to not paint the rear as I think the rear looks better unpainted where the front looks awesome painted. The rear does have some scuffs on the corners. I haven't had much luck sorcing replacement rear w124 inserts aside from a place in Eastern Europe and the fitment from those in my experience was bad so I kept the OEM on there.
@Avvocato - nice to connect over the phone. I'm going to get the car from storage this evening to get driving video and go through all functions to confirm that everything works. Thanks!
@1man1engine - thank you! Funny I didn't think about the R129 300sl manual and you made me look! Turns out this has the same pattern as the 300sl (at least the euro version) - I purchased a manual 300sl here on MB market and the pattern is the same. That's a fun car to drive and doesn't get the credit it deserves! (At least for a 90's convertible) - I was pleasantly surprised the 1st time I drove it.. it's really fun to drive! I'm assuming the US manual R129 got the dogleg and the euro manuals were this version for the w124 and r129.
@Vancouver yes I have them coming - I'm having some issues with dropbox.. they're coming I promise!
@Harrdware I stand corrected again. I had to double-check as the car is in storage 20 mins away from me. Turns out I did remember to replace the correct shift boot. The boot that is on there in the photos is the correct boot and correct 4 gate shift pattern for S/n > A658916. I've also been restoring a 190 16v so dogleg is on the mind :)
@DeeBlock - this kit was on a 300ce that was in very sorry state. I found the kit on the car and had it removed. This was a few years ago before the real kits were worth much. I held onto the kit until I found a manual CE. The kit was an absolute mess and the body folks thought I was nuts pouring what I did into rebuilding it all (>$5k receipts will be included in sale) there are AMG stamps on all parts and metal stamped AMG plaques on both side moldings that are riveted on. I will have photos on these shortly. I also bought the stainless exhaust when we broke the junk CE. It's nothing special, full stainless though and sounds much better than stock.
@Daamkaber based on my experience in NJ it qualifies for historic plates which don't require inspection/emissions not completely sure so check NJ DMV on QQ plate requirements. Happy bidding!
@Harrdware ahh I knew I forgot something on my checklist. This is a dogleg from the factory. I ordered a new boot and they sent me the wrong one with the wrong pattern. I'm still trying to find the correct rubber dogleg shift boot if not the car will come with the origional boot that has a 1 inch split in the side. Thank you!
@CABRIOSTEVE thank you. That is the resovior for the LSD
@jakeg104 thank you! I plan on getting her up on a lift and taking a bunch of photos along with a driving video. I have another Spanish market w124 that I recently sold that was bone dry everywhere. When I removed the cladding to have it refinished on this car and mount the AMG pieces I was shocked at the lack of any rust in the normal areas you see on these. I'll also include photos of the amg stamps and plates from the kit. Happy bidding!
Cool car- if one wanted to use on the street - does the non-rebuildable title create an issue with getting a new title? Just curious if one wanted to make it barely street legal :)
@StealsWheelsthank you! That color!!
@thembmarketthank you!

Thanks!

Thanks
