This is such a cool car, and I should know as I own a similar longroof. Great to see it on here. Pep and utility in a very timeless package! GLWTA!
@Schneller - thank you kindly! You nailed it perfectly with your words!! I personally love the Nardi wheel. I was going to initially swap it out but after using it, I love the feel of it, as well as the size. It compliments the car quite well. The SECs are addictive. I have a very low mile 91 560SEC as well as an SEL that will continue to keep me company.
@slownrusty - thank you for your enthusiasm! I hope so too - this is a very rare and beautiful car in a spectacular Blue that is timeless. And look at those Euro bumpers - the chef's kiss! We might go another 5 years without seeing another Gen 2 500SEC pop up. I love these Gen 2s and if you look at my history, I sold an 89 260SE that I used as my daily for years. These are, in my opinion, the best of the W126 crop as Mercedes achieved near perfection. Because I added some rare Mercedes wagons to the collection (pre-merger E36 AMG and C43 wagon), I have to sadly make some room. Good luck in the final hours and please reach out with any questions. I am happy to assist with shipping and will hold the car for a reasonable period.
@blauhaus - the path of least resistance would be Montana registration.
@BryMac - that sounds amazing and very rare. Agree, the interior is always a great conversation starter!
@StuttgartClassix - Thank you! @Alt767Gelt - We are in Southampton so must be neighbors! I too will always have W126s - I still have 2 560s to keep me company. And if your car is at Gus's, tell him I said hello! Now that I think about it, I have to pick up my G320 Cabrio from him!
@Ankawasi - a pic was sent to MBmarket and will be uploaded shortly. Thanks and you are right about the blues!
@slownrusty - thank you kindly. It is great having a community of enthusiasts such as yourself to enjoy this passion with. Your depth of knowledge is always appreciated! I took this to a cars and coffee today and parked by a 560SEC, also owned by a friend, and they were of course well received. These are great cars, possibly one of the greatest automotive cars of our generation. Although I love Porsches and BMWs and own a few of them as well, I have always had a W126 as far as I can remember and always will. The quality and workmanship that went into these is truly evident as years pass by and these still look, feel and drive so good. Finding another one like this with the perfect Euro bumpers and stunning color scheme will be a near impossible feat. Good luck to all bidders. And thanks for the recent bids @samdavis @570TE @DrewL
@570TE - Yes, that is correct. And do you have a monster 570 TE?
@blauhaus - those pics will be uploaded. @TheAMGKit - thanks! And yes it has the KE Jet as we recently replaced the EHA. I will try to get a better header pic.
Hey all, welcome to my Gen 2 500SEC auction. I purchased the car in Jan 2018 from a broker who had sold it on behalf of the family that originally imported the car. The car was imported and federalized by Mario’s Motors in Houston TX, who did many imports back in the 80s. They went out of business in late 80s/early 90s when the market for gray imports dried up. The speedometer was changed out to miles from km and converted to the mileage it was at the time of import in 87. I checked the paperwork I received with the car, which confirmed it. Well after a move 2 years ago, I inadvertently misplaced the paperwork I received with the car, which is a bummer. But I will continue to look for it. Appreciate the bids @MR90405 @oliverbeckmann
@mbheritage - what a special car! I should know - I have an 85 280TE with the factory 5 speed as well. The Euro bumpers, the nimble motor and rowing through the gears make these wagons come alive. Good luck to the next caretaker of this ultimate S123!
Wow, the only other 260SE I have seen is the one that I owned and sold here! What a beautiful car!! GLWTA!!
@slownrusty- thanks for chiming in. You are a wealth of knowledge on these! I'd love to see your 500SEC and 500SE. I too have an 86 500SEC Euro and have a love for the Euro specs. I have had my years of fun with this and ready to pass it on. As you pointed out, the Gen 2 Euros are extremely rare. Always a hit at cars and coffee as people gravitate toward the Euro lights, bumpers and wheel covers.
@Swabian- hi thanks for the question. Transmission is fine. No delay in engaging reverse.
Hi all, as we near the end of the auction, I wanted to thank everyone for the comments and bids (@Ranger902, @txmbnut @UAuto @naccer @kmr9146). Feel free to contact me for any last minute questions. Good luck!
@2nd_Chance_Steel- thanks, appreciate it!
Very cool car. Love the colors and the Euro bumpers. GLWTA @2nd_chance_Steel

@ilovemybenz- how cool! yes hit the contact seller button and we can schedule a viewing.
@CarCrazy24- Thanks you, much appreciated. Since then, we have replaced the brackets for the sunroof and also replaced the windshield washer reservoir (total cost $630). Also please refer to the walk around video. While the paint shows very well, it is mostly original and showing its age. There are areas of crazing in the clearcaot on the vertical surfaces that are hard to picture and a few spots on the roof. The horizontal surfaces including the roof and truck are in very good shape. Regular waxing and occasional compounding help keep its luster as you can see in the pics.
@CarCrazy24 - thanks you! Yes it was but didn't meet the reasonable reserve
@naccer- you have great taste, and thanks for the bid!
@LionHeart- thanks. it was just a way to get attention on the auction here. I’ve explicitly stated to bid on this site. I will be taking the listing down in a few days.
@naccer - I look at it this way - you can buy a 300SE or 420 or 560 any day of the week. But not a 260SE and the fact that you have bid shows that you see something in it too, as I did and still do. The least desireable engine has now turned itself into somewhat of a unicorn. There are only a handful of these around. This is more of a conversation piece - it’s fun to watch jaws drop at a car meet. No one has ever seen one much less heard of one. Infact my mechanic, Who has worked on these for 50 years had never seen one in the flesh until I brought it in; and he was giddy as a middle school kid! Plus it’s got a very cool history and all the paperwork. That’s hard to beat. Oh and the Euro Gen II bumpers, the euro lights and hubcaps…
@kmr9146- you and me both!
Thank you for the bids @kmr9146 and @naccer!
Thank you for the ooening bid @naccer!
@tjleatherman- I live by Rice university - certainly, come on by. Hit the contact seller button and we can figure it out.
@tjleatherman- correct - no accidents.
@ottobenz - Thanks! Appreciate it. It is a true unicorn here! Maybe a couple of these floating around in the the US. Agree, it is a very interesting spec sheet. The original purchaser was a diplomat who imported the cake and then kept it till 2012! The Euro lights/bumpers and 15” wheel covers make we weak at the knees.
@tjleatherman-Thanks. The front hood needs to be realigned. It happens on these. I’ll take care of it for the next owner
I’ve imported a few cars from Europe. Costs vary depending if you do Roll on/Roll off vs container. There’s customs/import fees, insurance, getting the car to the port, fees associated with unloading etc. Factor in atleast $5k for everything. Maybe more, maybe less. This car is cool and will definitely be worth the effort.
Congrats, you are getting a gem!
@jagjr- Hey thanks for the question - yes everything illuminates properly. No dead pixels.
Hi all, as we approach the final few hours, please feel free to reach out with any questions. It's a beautiful car that is just being broken in. Thanks and good luck bidding!
@Castellon06- thanks for the question. One of the side marker bulbs is out and there are some scratches along the bottom portion of the front bumper. The car runs great, AC is cold, brakes and suspension seem fine. No rattles or squeaks.
Hi all, forgot to mention that this car was a former CPO unit. I feel it’s always welcome to have that as part of a car’s history.
@TAG993- AC works great. Pads and rotors in good shape.
@TacheroThank you for the nice remark. It does have scratches on the lower edges of the front bumper, but none that are noticeable on the body. The wood is in great shape. No peeling. Everything appears to work fine, including the rear sunscreen.
@Bigbenz- Just beneath the title on the right hand side, it should say bid and comment. Click on that.
@Bigbenz- fyi - you placed the bid in the comment section.
@SuperTrkrE2812 Hey, thank you! No oil leaks. I cleaned the underneath with a damp cloth and the wet spot that is just residue from cleaning. I guess I snapped the pic too quickly. The car is super clean!
@MSerpe - yes, you are right.
Love that boomerang aerial! Totally 90s!!
Amazing to see an 88. I had an 86 300SL many years ago and it was fun owning it. I now own an 86 500SL in similar anthracite exterior but with a palomino interior. The Euro bumpers and headlights are just so special. I took mine to a cars and coffee last weekend and it was well received. These are very rare as @rubinhoward600 alluded to. This will be a great one to own.
@mbheritage - what a great offering! I am the proud owner of one of the handful of 5 speeds 280TEs. They are amazing cars and great drivers. I feel confident driving mine anywhere and keeping up with today's traffic. And rightfully so, it is on my do not sell list.
Thank you all for the bids and interest. We were getting close.
@BabyBenzFan and @cdwatnsu - I truly appreciate your comments. These are just so hard to come by in this shape. Always better off getting one of the best you can find as you will always end up spending more restoring one. I wish I had the time to fully detail it, but was on call for work last weekend and could quite sneak on the time to fully detail the engine. But as you can see, the engine bay is very tidy as is the undercarriage. Thanks @elspasoben!
Thanks for the bid @Wraith! @mad_max99 - activity is generally stronger on the last day and final hours.
@Jfp1234 - thanks for the info. Sounds like a sweet s124 you had
Good Friday morning. Just wanted to add that I tried out the cruise control this morning and it works great!
@kj20- Thank you! Yes, the sunroof works.
@BabyBenzFan - thanks for the kind words. Yes, I will try to get it better detailed this week and update pics. Sounds like you have quite a gem too! As far as color, I have not seen another Beryll 190e. An acquaintance has a Beryll 560 SEL and that’s the only other one I have seen. The next owner will have a true rare Bruno Sacco gem! And thanks for the lead off bid @mad_max99!
Greetings all! Fellow classic Mercedes lover here and owner of 190s for the past 13 years. @Harrdware - this one is special and you are spot on - all the great technology and class exuded by the S class trickled down to the 190 series. @cdwatnsu - Don’t discount the 2.3; it’s no slouch. I’ve owned the 2.6 and the 2.3-16; this will hold its own while delivering great mpg for the times we are in now!
Gorgeous color combo! Quite a stunner and perfect miles for a diesel with plenty of life ahead.
Nice car! Does the panoramic roof work properly?
@Adam77 - MBMarket will be reaching out to you.
Well, we got close, but not quite there. Thanks to all!
@MBstyle - Sorry I am not by the car at the moment, but can assure you there in no delamination in the rear window corners.
@MBstyle Only paintwork has been on the right rear passenger door to address some deep scratches.
Hi all, as the auction comes to a close, I wanted to thank you all for the interest, comments, and bids! It is a stunning car that is always well received everywhere it goes! Thanks again for the interest and bids @BackNein @speedyellow @Adam77 @Ziad @highheat @orlandito @daddyschak @Alt767Gelt @Benicia and for those that might be interested from the prior auctions @Yman67 @JohnBeall @LoudounPrime @Roland @Khan @Dastan2021
That would definitely be a cool plate @speedyellow. And thanks for the recent bids, along with @Backnein @Adam77
@Alt767Gelt- Hi Frank, thanks for the nice remarks! Yes, we live a few blocks from where the pics were taken as well. Gus is great and so knowledgeable; only wish I met him many years earlier. You are right - this will be a great driver or one can enjoy bringing it to shows. The w126 build quality is second to none. Cars of this vintage will need a good rehab and this one has had a lot of the heavy lifting already done. I'll keep an eye out for you as well!
@Benicia - I checked on the cruise control and it does not appear to engage. Also noticed a faint creak coming from the front drivers side when going over bumps at speed. Not noticeable on smooth roads or on the highway. Looks like it’s coming from the driver’s ball joint. Wasn’t present when we did the suspension refresh earlier. Not an imminent need, but will need to addressed down the road. Thanks you again for the interest and bids @Ziad and @Adam77
Hi @Benicia - yes, the AC and heat work. No warning lights on. I will check on the cruise control and get back.
Thanks for the interest and bids @Ziad @Adam77 @highheat @orlandito!
Congrats to both! Great auction!!
@Daddyschak - thanks for the interest. Two owners prior to me. I have had it since May of last year. And thank you @Elo1725 for starting this off!
Hi all, and welcome to my 420SEL auction. When I saw this car, I fell in love with the color and had to have it. Like a lot of you on here, I have been bitten by the classic MB bug. Seeing a well preserved 126 on the road today is a rare sight, and anytime I see one, I get goosebumps. This was no different. The anthracite gray is a majestic color with slightly different hues in different lights. I added it to my w126 fleet of an 89 260SE Euro and several 560SEC coupes. I had my master mechanic Gus (a famed Pagoda restorer) @ Beverly Hill motors go through and fix everything on it to make it a worthy daily driver and $5k later, he did. The car was already a very good specimen but he made it better. I had a 3 step paint correction done, refurbished the wheels and added new Good years. The car garners thumbs ups everywhere I take it! Granted being a young classic now, it will always continue to have minor needs, so please keep that in mind. Sadly my automotive ADD has kicked in and I am in process of mildly restoring a 2 door Gwagon, hence the sale. Contact me with any questions. Thanks again for viewing it!
@600SEC_AMG, what a gem you have here! I agree with you, @boatymcboatface and others that cars in this age range will need so much love that until one has done the heavy lifting, most people do not see the labor of love cars can be. After that, the pleasure of owing one of these can truly be felt. You have done an excellent job and I am sure your efforts will be rewarded. I wish you all the best in the final hours.
Congrats @jrs3484!
@NYCdriver - agree, this is a great color! I have a 190e in this color and always enjoy staring at it. GLWTA @Modeh
Congrats. Solid buy!!
Amazing cars. Had two 07 Black 63 longroofs and loved every minute. With such low miles, this still has some room to go up before the hammer falls. GLWTA @GASMotorcars!
Congrats to both - a stellar example!
Beautiful car with an awesome Brazil Brown interior. I have an 87 with 96k miles. Mine just underwent a fuel system overhaul as well. Gotta say, these have aged so well!
Great color! Excellent presentation! GLWTA!
Greta outcome on a great car! Congrats @W116_036 and @ariotofmyown!
Thank you all so much for the interest and bids! The reserve has been lifted in the car will be off to a new home today!
Thanks @Mriddle77!
Thanks for the bids @Mautogroup and @D6lc
Hi all, as we close in the final hours of the auction, I wanted to thank you for the comments and the latest bids @EmmaLab, @PDavidson @Daddyschak @rkawles @McCannon @Shimmer. This has been a well maintained SL500 in the rare Sport trim that I feel will continue to gradually appreciate over time. The pano roof is icing! In addition to the detailed work done over the past 4 years, including cam oiler tubes, top hydraulics, suspension, brakes, tires etc.., it has a new Mercedes battery and a wiper blade. I'd be happy to help with shipping logistics, if needed. Good luck all!
Congrats @lakers91325 and @SportlineMerc! Looks like a great car, and the 5 speed is just what the M103 needed!
Great action and well deserved! Lovely car @dcautowerks904
@Daddyschak - yes they were in early 2018
Thanks for the interest and bids @rkawles, @Pdavidson and @McCannon!
@OxfordMotorcars - appreciate the kind remarks! It was well received at a recent cars and coffee. People have forgotten how timeless the design is and how well these have aged, especially with the Sports package and AMGs! Thanks again @Shimmer!
Hi, It’s at the factory ride height. The front struts were replaced with Bilsteins. The springs were not. I can measure it this week. Feel free to hit the contact seller button with any questions.
Happy 4th of July all. Thanks for the interest and bids @RDARCY @bkkaraoglu
I have had the front bumper repainted as it sits low and had numerous scratches along the bottom from curb stops and not from any accidents. Apart from that, no paintwork that I am aware of. Sorry, I don’t have access to a paint meter.
Thanks for the bid @Shimmer! Quick update - my mechanic just replaced the brake master cylinder - there was a small leak. - He replaced the headlight door for the driver’s side that had a small crack. - Replaced the plastic trim to open the center console. - Battery was replaced a few weeks ago with the OEM Mercedes one. Car is ready to go!
Yes, I added the pano roof, and sorry don't have the original. Yes gray. Good question - I am paring down the fleet a bit. I accumulated quite a few over the years and have somewhat of a revolving door. Looking to enjoy some of my newly acquired ones and pass the torch on to the next steward.
Quite a striking color combo! GLWTA @ariotofmyown
@D6lc - thanks for the interest and questions. I am collector and an enthusiast and this is one of 15 cars I own, so it was driven sparingly and was never on daily driver rotation. When I got the car, there was a ticking noise from the engine. After reading up on these motors, we determined that the plastic oiler tubes in these engines can deteriorate, so they were replaced with metal ones and voila, the noise resolved. While we were in there, we decided to do the chain tensioner as well. No repairs needed now. No oil leaks. Yes, I have records from my ownership for everything done.
Hi all and welcome to my first MBMarket auction. Thanks @Daddyschak for the opening bid! Here to answer any questions. It’s a beautiful car that’s well received at cars and coffee. These are great cruisers that have been under the radar too long.
Great value here! Congrats to both!
Wow, this is special! Great spec!

This will be a great one to own.

In addition to the detailed work done over the past 4 years, including cam oiler tubes, top hydraulics, suspension, brakes, tires etc.., it has a new Mercedes battery and a wiper blade.
