The MB Market Insights
Premerger AMG modified vehicles have become highly collectible. By that same trend, so have the parts which are becoming more rare by the day, as if they weren't already difficult to find. This Momo M38 steering wheel is one of the must have parts to complete a proper premerger AMG car. While driving down the road, these cars can be easily spotted with aggressive AMG body kits and wheels, possibly blasting your favorite 80's hit with the windows down. On the interior, there were less obvious options aside from Recaro seats, extended wood, and of course, a proper AMG steering wheel. The M38 was exclusively made for AMG with the engraved premerger "AMG" script across the center horn pad. No matter what old school Mercedes muscle car you've got, this steering wheel can spice up the interior in all the right ways.
@DukeReturnsThanks for the question and the kind words. The horn pad is completely intact and not split in the crease between the upper and lower sections. Any lines visible in the photos are just the natural seam/design of the pad and light reflection in the pictures. Overall the center pad is solid and presents very well for its age.
@patstarThanks for the question. The wheel itself was fully restored with new leather. The two small marks you’re seeing are on the original center pad. These center pads are extremely difficult to find for pre-merger AMG wheels, so the original piece was intentionally preserved rather than replaced. The marks are purely cosmetic and typical for an original center pad of this age.
