I’ve admired this car since I was a kid—reading about it on forums and hearing stories from owners about hunting down NOS parts in Yahoo Japan, even going as far as buying two just to keep one pristine. The owner’s relentless attention to detail even introduced me to Bluerdgemb, where I apprenticed for a summer. That experience changed my life, teaching me how to care for and prepare a car at a high level. I also purchased a white 1994 E500 from the same seller, and I can’t say enough about the impeccable quality of his cars. Back to the 5.4 SEL AMG—the owner built this car with the intention of keeping it forever, and it shows. He’s been an ambassador for premerger AMGs, taking the car to concourse events all over the country. I even heard he flew to Affalterbach, Germany, with all the paperwork in hand, impressing the employees there with his dedication to detail. Not only has he taken the car to the racetrack, but it was also photographed for Numbers Magazine. When I was pursuing a career as a photographer, he supported me by letting me bring his car to the studio. People often forget the impact these cars have on others, but I can honestly say this car changed my life.
@LT77The diff ratio swap is one of those "modifications" I would classify as a usability update. The 2.24 rear end was available at the time of the cars build and having driven cars with 2.82 and 2.24 the cars are much more enjoyable at highway speeds with the 2.24 rear end.
@AMG5pt4I can attest to the quality of Joes work. he's an old school guy who uses a land line. Joe has extensive experience with 80s AMG engines and their nuances. Joe also rebuilt my AMG 4 cam more than 10 years ago and has been trouble free.
