This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is finished in White (050) over Red Leather and is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car was purchased by the seller in 2012 and received a full body-off restoration between 2014 and 2020 including over $200k in work. Features include a removable-paint matched hardtop, a black fabric soft top, a Becker Europa radio and heating and air-conditioning. Recent maintenance included an engine oil change, a power steering flush and a full fluid check. The car now shows 49k miles (TMU) and is offered for sale by the current owner in Easton, Maryland with the original tool kit, manufacturer’s literature and a clean Maryland title.
The exterior is finished in White (050) and features chrome front and rear bumpers, a paint-matched removable hardtop and a folding black fabric soft top. The body-off restoration included a full respray, a restoration of the hardtop and refinishing of all chrome trim pieces. The exterior is in excellent condition with no signs of damage or rust present on the body.
The 14” wheels come fitted with chrome hub caps with white paint-matched centers and wear Yokohama Avid TRZ tires measuring 195/70 with 2007 date codes. Power-assisted disc brakes were fitted from the factory to both the front and rear axles.
The cabin is upholstered in Red Leather with matching red carpets and a white paint-matched dashboard. The interior features a lockable glove compartment, climate controls with factory AC, the original Becker Europa radio, an analog clock, manually-adjustable seats and manual windows. The seller reports that both the heat and air-conditioning are fully functional.
The black two-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer currently shows 49k miles with approximately 300 miles added since the completion of the restoration. True mileage is unknown.
This W113 is powered by a 2.8-liter fuel-injected inline-six which was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 193 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The restoration was performed by Vintage Restoration Limited of Union Bridge, Maryland with over $200k in receipts which are included with the car. Maintenance performed in October 2022 included an engine oil change, a power steering fluid flush and a full fluid check. The underbody photos taken by the seller show no signs of rust.
This 280SL was acquired by the seller in 2012 with approximately 1,300 miles added by the seller over the past 11 years. A vehicle history report from 2014 is included by the seller and shows no title issues or salvage records. This W113 Pagoda is now offered for sale by the current owner in Easton, Maryland with the original tool kit, restoration receipts, manufacturer’s literature and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The W113 or "Pagoda" SL is arguably one of the best looking Mercedes ever produced and moreover, one of the most iconic convertibles to come out of the 1960's. These cars are significantly better to drive over their predecessor, the 190SL, and seem to be poised perfectly as one of the best investment cars to buy. The Bracq-designed masterpiece was almost twice as expensive as the Jaguar E-Type of the time and seems to be a favorite amongst various MB enthusiasts and generations. This example has received an extensive restoration with thorough attention to detail. All surfaces appear clean and rust free from the body to the undercarriage along with a stunning red leather interior. This example will make the perfect addition to a collector’s garage and is sure to provide many phenomenal Sunday drives for many years to come.

This magnificent 280 SL that has attended our local cars and coffee on occasion, and it is the best of the best. The owner is totally fastidious about his cars, and you won't be disappointed. If I only had room. BL

Beautiful car Bad timing on my part always wanted one to add to my collection GLWS
Truly stunning motorcar. I've seen this one up close and personal at Prestige Auto Vault. Images don't do it justice. I've only seen two in my lifetime with the rare manual transmission. I'd welcome this on my show field anytime. No disappointments here
Beautiful car, I have seen this example in person. High quality restoration work!

In photos 71 and 72 where the interior fender edge meets the engine bay, the spot welds should be obvious. My 113 was repainted and they are clearly visible
Additional photos have been added to the gallery.
Car is available for inspection in Easton, Maryland. Please contact me for and appointment.
