This 1968 Mercedes-Benz 230S “Fintail” is a U.S. Example finished in Papyrus White (717) over Black MB-Tex (131) and powered by a 2.3L M180 inline-6 paired to a 4-speed automatic. It was inherited by the current owner and seller in 2001 from their father who purchased the car in 1997. Notable features include original paint, stacked headlamps, front and rear bumper guards, manual windows, lap belts for four passengers, and more. The seller notes that service records by way of the stamped service booklet documenting the car’s history since new will accompany the sale. Recent services for 2025 include freshly-rebuilt carburetors and fuel pump, a new fuel filter, new spark plugs, and a new battery. This Fintail shows Papyrus White (717) paint displaying some fading and age-related patina. The seller notes the paint to be original with very minor dings noted in the body. Original trim, lights, brightwork, and seals can be seen in the gallery and are present with the car. The seller notes minor rust on the rear bumper.
Original 14” steel wheels accompany the car along with the original painted hubcaps in Papyrus White. Cooper Dean Galaxie tires are shown mounted with some wear noted. The original tool kit is included in the sale along with a factory jack and spare tire.
The original interior is trimmed in Black MB-Tex (131) and appears to be in good condition with average wear noted and no tears or rips. Matching Black loop carpets are shown throughout the cabin along with a matching dashboard and door cards. Original walnut veneer is shown lining the dashboard with some fading shown. All original switchgear along with the original gauge cluster and clock are complete.
The original black steering wheel frames vertical VDO instrumentation including a speedometer and gauges indicating coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 142k miles.
The M180 2.3L inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. The engine was rated for 120 horsepower when new and 131lb-ft of torque. Reported top speed when produced was 109mph. A stamped factory service booklet documenting services from new is included. Recent services for 2025 include freshly-rebuilt carburetors and fuel pump, a new fuel filter, new spark plugs, and a new battery.
A clean Oregon title accompanies this Fintail along with historic service records since new, factory literature, and a spare set of keys.

This is a very clean sample of a W111 Heckflosse. I have a '66 230S with 4-on the floor and it is my favorite driver in the stable, always willing and able to go out for long rides. Once sorted out, it will give you many trouble-free smiles...GLWA

@Ozman The way I see it seller interaction is rather needed here. I'm willing to take a shot as it looks like a decent car but I don't know the last time one of these went up when a seller wasn't overly-excited to discuss it.

Unusual that such an interesting car has only one question/comment and no answer from the seller, especially for a reserve sale.
Are photos available of the under carriage? Are there any oil leaks? Do all lights work? Do all gauges work as intended? How many sets of keys? Is the car road worthy and road ready? Thank you.
