With the recent uptick in classic S-Class prices like we've seen with W126's, let's address how gracefully the W116 has aged through multiple generations of S-Classes. From its commanding road presence to the plush seats, there's no denying these classic flagships are more than capable of being driven on the daily more than 40 years since their release. Moreover, the examples, like this '77 450SEL, that have been loved, cherished, and passed down through generations seem to tell a story that not many cars are capable of conveying. It seems this long-wheelbase sedan is destined for a good home with the third owner of what we can hope is another couple decades of enjoyment.

It's rare on a 450SEL, but very common on a 300SD. Very nice example nonetheless. GLWTS.
@shervin The color is unique and rare
@peabo The rear seat padding has shifted a little on the right side lean back. However all padding for the back seat and backrest is firm, supportive and comfortable. The leather is supple soft and in excellent condition.
This color combo screams 300SD. It's so unusual to see it on a 450SEL.
steel, pics 79 and 80 show the back seat. It looks like the padding is gone. Correct? Is the leather good? Please comment. Thank you
@Vespisi1 That is correct. The state of Connecticut only issues transferable registrations to cars over 20 years old. So with a signed off original registration ,and a notorized bill of sale, you will be able to register this amazing car in you state in which you reside and that state will issue you a registration and title for the car in your name
@Vespisil @ProdigalPetrolHead That is correct. The buyer of this amazing car will get a transferable Connecticut registration and a notorized bill of sale. With those two documents, your state will issue you a title and registration in your name , In the state you reside in. No titles issued to cars over 20 years old
@Vespisi1 I recently bought a 107 out of CT under the same pretense. CT issues classics with registration-only status. Once you have that and a bill of sale, your state can issue a title for it.
Q: The listing mentions CT transferable registration. This means no title?
