@GregFI agree- this car is unapologetically exactly what it is and doesn't need to be anything else. I have an E320 too and the M112 is a total workhorse. It'll never let you down and in green, you can't argue! Good luck to the seller!
For what it's worth I was able to see this car in person this past weekend for a client of mine. The video is definitely an accurate representation of this cab.
I can attest after being around several of these 6.0 119's that this sounds normal for a phone-shot video.
@biillcourcy these were never offered with 4Matic...Rare color for sure here. Wouldn't take much to bring it back to a very clean example but it's cool to see the options and colors.
I'll always miss my 221, had the most comfortable interior of any car I've had. Congrats to whoever wins this!
@BoathouseLooks like the car is located in Roanoke, VA. It's represented by a dealer so still has the SC title.
I guess that's about right in this market. 10 years old and almost 100k miles. Great cars but big undertaking.
@PatinaCollectiveWOAH! This is the closest some will be to Mercedes royalty for the money.
@MAbbottI'm drooling over it, I have to think this is one of the best cars still on the road. Nothing feels like an M100 (but I've only played with them in W109's)
@jamesaryGeneric monroneys aren't always spot-on. These are the 18's. Nice car @seller!
@sirmathrocksJJproducts.net would be where I'd start. they've offered custom upholstery solutions for MB velour for some time. Westtrading.nl also likely has it. Both have been around since the internet.
I have such a soft spot for the ML55, owned a few and they always treated me well. LOVE seeing one in green and more so with the brush guards. If I was in the market for another, I'd be bidding on this one. Good luck!
Can't recall the last time I saw velour in a 600- this is special! I can't help but think about seeing this amongst normal traffic.
@edandI'm staring at it thinking the same. Might be ABC but it's definitely period-correct. I keep thinking that a low mileage 280SL is cool enough but this would just be a riot.
@BbbbusinessLooks like condensation from the A/C.
Photos of this in a studio are spectacular but seeing it drive amongst normal traffic and average cars truly puts in perspective how great these are to look at.
@hselcukVIN decode does mention the 772 AMG Styling package. https://www.lastvin.com/vin/1735zAJG63XdmyMQv
@W212WolfI hadn't either, it's great. Also, did you notice the matching leather case for the books?
I think this is the first time I've seen perforated leather on a 208, same perforation you get on the 210 E55's. Likely exceptionally rare and always love seeing early designo. GLWTA!
This has to be the coolest garage decor available.
@MercAddict2010 and @W124ONLY Thanks for the questions. I'm happy to get these packaged and wrapped on a palette but I don't have the ability to set up shipping. I'd recommend reaching out to DHL for a quote. Thanks
@AnEffinWookieI'll make sure to remind you the day of ;)
@AnEffinWookieSame set and still with me. The previous winner couldn't make shipping work and as I understand it he's still in good standing here. No harm, no foul and they're available again.
@SkiSullivanShould be fine with the offset- you may need a mild spacer at most. Thhanks!
@GoBoGo Wins username of the day lol. Obscure and love it
@NeddyPShould look fantastic on the W126, esp the LWB. Kind of the perfect application for these. Or an early 129.
@DrAMGDo it
Kinda want these for my 140...or 129. Honestly love just how perfectly period they are.
I've owned a couple of these over the years and every time I fall back in love. FWIW this is a rare color to find and more so in this condition. GLWTA!
Thanks all for the bids so far- total steal right now for real 500E wheels.
@Amg007Sorry for the delay! I'm more than happy to package these for shipping but I couldn't pay for the shipping. Hopefully that helps- let me know what other questions you have.
@StarkermannFirst time I've met someone who doesn't appreciate a 500E. Different strokes I suppose.
Owned a couple ML55's, loved each one and I'm still convinced it will be one of their greats from that era.
We're pleased to announce we're lifting reserve on this Pano top and the highest bid will win it today. Thanks!
Good morning all, thanks for the bids over the weekend! Let me know if any lingering details need answered before we get into the final hour of the auction. As mentioned we can help facilitate delivery along the East coast/lower Midwest as long as the buyer has a little patience :) Good luck to all, this is a very rare color to find!
@ekimpPhotos of paint meter readings have been sent in, expect to see them uploaded soon. As noted, the paint is original and in really nice condition. regarding shipping, we can help facilitate along the East coast/lower Midwest.
@MackdadaeThese engines (nor turbo or supercharged engines) needed head bolts. You're thinking of the M156 (NA 6.2L V8 from AMG). This car doesn't have that issue.
@ammaraj24perfect!
@ALeventhalHopefully the winner keeps us informed and for their sake, I hope beyond everything else they find it IS a 6.0. Absolute worst case- the winner is getting a VERY cool 129. Good luck to all!
@124guy Just checked that decoder, specifically shows "500 SL / AMG 500 SL 6.0". PSA Not every euro 129 decodes like that.
@ammaraj24has the right attitude. Could be a gamble at this point but there's some risk. Sounds like fun to some of us. @AMGAddict, thanks for stopping by, Excited to watch this and FWIW, I may not be the leading expert on pre-merger cars but there's a lot of good going for this one. Additionally, this might be the best looking 129 I've seen in some time. AMG cosmetics shouldn't be shrugged off.
@mbz2000I've seen a few of these 40th cars. I believe starting MSRP was 295k- should be some car and driver/road and track articles out there outling the nearly 300k sticker shock at the time. For those curious, Alubeam is FANTASTIC and the upper hides are really rich in person.
@MrBlondeStill worth it considering the rarity and mileage. I think these are going to be wayyyy more collectible in a few years. Open top, V8, and low mileage. Love it!
The topic of authenticity was, IMO, exhausted in the last auction for this car. On one hand it was, in a respective community of enthusiasts, remembered to have had the kit since virtually new- that was ok for some and not others. It took 4 days of the auction to go through the same conversation being had now. Let's all just assume the same outcome, wish the seller luck, and enjoy seeing something so cool come back to the market.
@IlovebigtoysIf the CLS55 had ABC (active body control) it would be expensive BUT these cars were AIRMATIC- much easier to work on.
Been racking my brain and can't actually recall ever seeing this color on a 116 previously. All the charm and road presence!
@Gryphon12Been hoping to see a DL collab here for a while.....
Congrats to the seller and buyer! Great auction to watch.
Been staring at this listing all week. Not sure I've seen a more complete Silver Arrow (down to all the keys, briefcase, etc). Out of my league but good luck to the seller on this- superb car!
@raffiLook at the bumpers and fenders. That is far from a "regular" 190E. The example photo from an AMG brochure shows the comparison in the top right ;)
@blakleyleonard should be able to answer this.
@Benzfan84Quite rare to see one of these- if at all with air suspension. FYI there would be a button just below the shifter if it did have airmatic.
Utter dream car for me, there's a lot to love about these including the early COMAND and rear buckets but that engine is LEGENDARY.
I'm not actively bidding on this one BUT if I were, it'd be at the top of my list. I've seen this car in person and it absolutely holds up to the photos and video. Good luck to all here- killer car.
I keep watching this thinking someone needs to buy it and save it or at least drive it as a good runner. This would be the perfect "strap your surfboard to the top and go to the beach" cruiser.
Nothing better than a good 4.5 in these.
MORE than happy to get this one kicked off. Actually remember seeing this as a kid with no car, no license, and no money thinking it was the coolest. WCC was massively influential in the early 2000's along with DUB magazine and this screams that era. Will proudly cruise this around Atlanta if I win.
Always been curious how these drive with the M104. Has to be a rewarding driver.
Does it get any more perfect or ideal than this? Always loved a straight 6 R107. I feel like this is going to pay the buyer back with years of good drives
Stellar car and dead-cool retro throwback. Wish I could add this one to the stable...GLWTA!
@Vespisi1I recently bought a 107 out of CT under the same pretense. CT issues classics with registration-only status. Once you have that and a bill of sale, your state can issue a title for it.
WOW
Enjoying watching this (queue popcorn)
For those lingering and watching I've spent time around this example and can verify it's likely the nicest on the market. Exceptionally kept and owned. Bid with total confidence!
Personally owned two of these and trusted with daily duty. Due to the reinforced rear and extra weight these always delivery perfect driving dynamics compared to the sedans and feel infinitely more solid. Good luck with auction to the seller and bidders!
Not much more iconic than signal red on a 107. Amazing that these were 60K+ in the late 80s!
TONS to love about this car. From the color combination to the wheels, I'm convinced these will be appreciating assets when spec'd like this. GLWTA to the seller!
Seems like a stellar deal considering previous sales and work performed here. Not to mention loads of immeasurable character compared to new cars. GLWTA!
Looks like Beige (265) @CICBarkeep
@Mecho69Safe to assume around $1.10 per mile open carrier and close to $1.80 or a little more if you're shipping enclosed. I'm not in the business but I do ship cars frequently.
Congrats @ariotofmyown
Might be a trivial question but the A/C does blow cold and hold a charge?
@ItWillPassThat's a different car you're thinking of. @Pizdets4u Add this one to the collection!
Lots of potential in this SEL to be a fantastic driver!
Always been curious about how these are to drive. Had an SLK32 some years back- thinking the M113 in this platform should be great
@Mr_CasanovaLook under the "Quick Facts" section. Shows Mclean, Virginia as the location.
Can vouch for the guys who replaced the harness in GA. Know them and their work.
@alex210 any idea if these fit an ML55?
Not in the running on this one but know and trust the seller. Can also say it is a rare spec in P3 plus Sport. Good luck to all!
Manual everything makes this the ultimate apocalypse-mobile. @StoneBelvin knows!
Timeless color combination on an absolute classic. These are destined to become more and more desirable.
There's always something so special about this era of AMG. The C43, E55, and ML55. Maybe it was the much more limited production, maybe the more exclusive finishes or maybe just my own teenage idolization. Very cool car and will continue to be.
After owning one of these, there's something special about the R170 compared to later SLK's. It was a great little roadster at the time and a totally manageable size.
These cars are about to be in the sweet spot between value and features available. It really doesn’t get much better for modem Benzes.
@mercedesmikeNot sure it's all about weight here. I believe details like mounting points, seams, weld points, and other engineering details probably played a role in picking which chassis to modify for the Maybach cars. While I'm by no means an engineer and Mercedes isn't known for sharing every secret and raison d'etre for their methods, The chassis code alone (240) I think is a strong indication of a modified 140 chassis or 2nd generation of the 140. Without meaning to hijack the sellers auction, this is a BEAUTIFUL example and strikingly good looking in the two-tone silvers.
Man this thing is too cool. Almost dream of leaving the patina and wear and just mechanically reviving….wonder what a newer power plant could do!
@JoseyWales45I suppose that's really preference at this point. The 617 is known for repeatedly going a million miles and being almost impossible to break. The 648, the last of the iron blocks, is arguably just as good as an engine but the technology in the w211 makes it just a little less dependable to seven figures....mid six figures is still very doable! HA (Just my two cents)
Boy this is tough to find in Classic White over navy. Killer example, GLWTA!
It's getting hard to find examples like this one- very similar to a car I was able to log 250k miles on. IMPOSSIBLE to kill these. GLWTA!
@Mountainrd27Not sure I'd agree. You're spot on with the historical significance of Maybach to both MB and the industry but this was absolutely on par with the Phantom of the time and a great solution for those looking to be just a little under the radar by comparison. Either way, @thembmarket nails it. These are still so cool for using the modified 140 chassis.
@drcooledgeThe insights from MBM say it best, these were a rare production model for just one year. Likely a surplus of parts for the W220 were used before the W221 hit the US market. It was definitely a great option and nearly the cost of a loaded E Class.
I always kick myself for not buying one of these several years back. There's so much to love in these cars. Good Luck to the seller!
Solid driver- respect on this one, it'll most likely outlast all of us.
Kudos to the seller on this presentation! This might be the first time I’ve lusted for a 190SL. Perfect color combination, GLWTA!
@ArmenianJust checked- the piece used is a Fuyao Sunless Laminated unit. (DOT459M848AS1)
@ArmenianIt was replaced in 2020 before I owned the car.
@ArmenianThe Carfax certainly shows the mileage and time correctly for all owners including myself. It looks like their estimated time of ownership is off although the records line up correctly showing 2015 to 2021 under the second owner. I'm sure an email to Carfax could have that amended, which I've sent out this evening. @Tdgust45 the only thing strange is the Carfax typo, which I was unaware of. Mileage on the Carfax report is tracked consistently, that being said. Also, the car never had any OBD issues. With @Blueridgemb being intimately familiar with the car, it's certainly a real listing and can be bid on with confidence.
Everyone, thank you for taking the time to look at, comment on, and bid on my S550. I'll be available as needed during the auction to answer questions and provide additional information.
Pretty wild seeing a Sportline 124 like this- maybe I'm crazy but I feel like these are pretty rare
Amazing how the lines on these pop with proper presentation, it's aged like a fine wine.
Alright! Love that this is headed to a new home!
Love seeing some good action and comments here. The SL with a manual was rare enough but this color combination and options set really pushes this thing towards uber-cool. Kudos to the seller!
This things cool, same suspension I had on my C36- this has been making me miss that car.
@BlueridgeMB coming in hot with the 119 and 210 bids. Love it!
Glad to see more of these late 90's AMG's popping up. These need to be preserved by all means.
@MillerMackAgreed- this will only get cooler as time goes on.
Wow this could be well bought.
Amazing how much rarer these 3.5's are becoming. Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up going to Europe for how nice it is!
110 percent agree with @BlueridgeMB on the colour combo. This is one of those colors that will never look as aggressive as today's "stormtrooper fad" but in good shape, it should win a beauty contest every time. Also, kudos to the owner for resisting to tint the hard top glass- love how clean it is.
Good lord this is clean. I bet this M104 just happily hums and sings all day long. Excited to watch this one, GLWTA!
There's so much to like here. Maintenance, history, documents, euro glass, etc. Don't see them like this anymore. (Also crazy this converts to 155k MSRP by 2021 money)
@EvilLairCars rarely do well when you double-list. People assume the worst...it's so clean.
@zeuswgn and @EuropeanC are you guys out of gas? I'd be bidding on this if I had the space
@EvilLairFingers crossed this goes to a good home! It deserves another pampered 40 years
This has to be a steal, eh? Perfect car to cruise for the summer and get everything back out of in the Fall
This is good n' cheap right now!
Nicely bought.
Next to anything from the same era is mega cool......Hoping to see some action on this!
It's funny, amongst these AMG's and RENNtech cars there's something so cool about the practicality of this W211.
Well played to all bidders. Congrats @PaulMarianetti
I feel like I'm watching a Michael Bay film....lots of action and not much conversation.
Buyers in CA worried about emissions may want to spend a few hundred bucks to title out of state?
The last one of these under auction was an AMG-Japan car and went for a solid six-figure sale. Interesting this is a Ravensburg car, hoping to see some good action. This would be right at home between a 964 3.6 Turbo and a Diablo....Wishful thinking.
Pretty excited to see what happens with this Cossie this afternoon. It's good fun when they haven't traded hands half a dozen times.
well done to the bidders! Congrats @Benz919Wagon
Oh man, we may have a good one here. ( @BlueridgeMB is right)
Man this is a steal at this price....should I divorce the wife and bid?
I've personally seen this car and can vouch for the paintwork being as thorough as possible. Extremely difficult to tell it's not factory. Too bad it's not in the cards for me to own right now.
@Donkster While I can't speak to this car specifically I've owned plenty of Airmatic cars- The Airmatic on these 211's is really simple compared to the more problematic ABC systems. Aftermarket manufacturers like Arnott keep the cost low and they offer a killer warranty on their parts as well.
Really intrigued to see how this goes- Nothing short of envious of the next owner.
Man there's a lot of W211 here.

Additionally, this might be the best looking 129 I've seen in some time. AMG cosmetics shouldn't be shrugged off.

ProdigalPetrolHead said:
@mercedesmikeNot sure it's all about weight here. I believe details like mounting points, seams, weld points, and other engineering details probably played a role in picking which chassis to modify for the Maybach cars. While I'm by no means an engineer and Mercedes isn't known for sharing every secret and raison d'etre for their methods, The chassis code alone (240) I think is a strong indication of a modified 140 chassis or 2nd generation of the 140. Without meaning to hijack the sellers auction, this is a BEAUTIFUL example and strikingly good looking in the two-tone silvers.
