Gsinil - Brackets sticking out of sunroof are for wind deflector, yes they can be removed! Picture 26 is a light little dent picture 49 was a posted note, I just removed it. The car is very clean, absolutely no leaks
A few more since it's getting close to showdown: 1. What are the brackets sticking out from the sunroof? To attach some kind of wind deflector? Can they easily be removed? 2. Is this a dent in the LF fender (pic 26)? 3. What is the yellow sticker in picture 49? 4. Based on the undercarriage pictures there are no leaks, can you confirm?
gsinil - done by a shop
Jtwoods4 - A shop worked on it
@Rebel32L I am with you on the chrome fender trim. Removing them on my 300SDL was the first thing I did to the car after I bought it. As goomicoo said, they are usually screwed on, at least mine were. After I removed the arches, I sealed the holes with POR-15 and never had any issues with corrosion. With the way the holes were placed they are not visible.
Trap oxidizer still on the car?
$15,250 bid placed by @JSLG
@Rebel32L The chrome fender arches are screwed onto the car. !985 models have a couple of one year only features. Some good, some not. 1) transmission is the smoothest shifting W123 2) highest ratio rear end for better highway cruising 3) An oxygen trap exhaust system that was so awful MB has a lifetime recall. The trap gets clogged and robs power. Your only choice is to remove the trap and replace it with a straight pipe or swap out the entire turbo and exhaust manifolds to the earlier versions. 4) The air filter element was $50 if you could find them but now they are NLA!
Are the chrome accent strips over the wheel wells easliy removable and if so would it leave exposed screw/clip holes or exposed paint discoloring? I really like to own one of these generation cars its just those silver trims pieces always holds me back from buying/bidding because I dont know how they’re attached and can be easily removed. Otherwise this is a beatiful wagon and looks to be in exceptionally good condition. GLWS
Thanks for the response to my previous question. Did you do the rear main seal yourself or was it done by a shop? If the latter, I assume you have records for it? Thanks
