This Euro-Spec 1984 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC was ordered new for the German market and exported to the United States in 1985. Since importation, the car has remained registered and driven in California. The SEC is finished in Black (040) over Palomino Leather (274), and power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes original chrome 8-hole wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, front heated seats, a power antenna, and cruise control. Various service records from current ownership and prior are included in the sale with notable services documented including a recent timing chain service. This C126 shows 73k miles and is now offered by the seller with manufacturer’s literature, three keys, original tool roll, original import documentation, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Black (040) with grey lower cladding and a gold pinstripe painted along the upper beltline of the body. Exterior features include European glass headlamps, European bumpers, lower fog lamps, original OEM front and rear lamps, and original glass. The seller notes the body and chassis to be rust-free with the only blemish being a rock chip in the windshield.
Chrome 15” 8-hole wheels have been added to this car in place of the factory 14” Bundt wheels. Michelin MXV4 tires measuring 205/65 are shown on all four wheels. Braking is handled by disc brakes at all four corners
The cabin is finished in Palomino Leather (274) and features original Burl Walnut trim on the center console, dash, and doors. A wood shift knob has been added under prior ownership. Interior features include power windows, automatic climate control, courtesy lamps, heated power front seats, and cruise control. The seller notes that all power functions work as intended with the exception of the air conditioning. Custom covers are shown for the dashboard and rear hat shelf. The seller has added that the radio/head unit is inoperative.
A black aftermarket steering wheel with a leather-wrapped rim frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and instant fuel economy. The six-digit odometer shows 73k miles.
The 5.0-liter M117 V8 is equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 228 horsepower and 299 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underbody are available in the gallery. At 71k miles, a complete timing chain service was performed and the seller notes this example is smog-compliant in all 50 states.
The included Carfax report shows no accidents or damage, linear mileage updates and California registration since 1985. This C126 shows 73k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, three keys, original tool roll, original import documentation, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
A cold start video is viewable below and also shows functioning seatbelt retractors.

Replied to your email re storage. Good luck bidding!
Hello to SFO, first thank you for the added pics of the sparetirecompartment and jacklift spots. Final question on final hours because I was looking for an answer per email but didn't receive it for the following questions: What would be the maximum storage time in a proper place before picking up the SEC in person? GLWTA ORIGINAL AND RARE ✌️
@AspenMB a lot of a lot would have gone a long way on this one. Bidders are expected to see past those items though to see what it could be, unfortunately. The photos detract from the car, the suspect mileage. The description is for who? Where is the tripmeter that was in it? Pinkamino also doesnt really help the allure.

Additional photos of the jack points have been added along with the spare wheel well and spare tire.
I have taken more photos in response to specific questions and sent to MBM to post. Additionally: It is a non-smoker car. The pin stripes are painted on, original and period correct. There are a few rock chips in the paint that have been touched up. Spare tire has never been on the road, sticker still on. Radio currently does not work. There is no response to pushing on- no lights, no sound and antenna does not go up. So, it’s not getting any power. Likely a fuse, but I have not investigated.
500SEC(Seller) is the paint original? Any paint work?
Thanks for the questions. It is obvious to me that this car has lived the vast majority of its life indoors. Windows are all good, other than the rock chip in the front windshield. I don’t drive the car in the rain. If it stops raining here next week, will do.
Gotta love a Euro spec SEC.. @seller: can you post a driving video? Any delamination of the rear window? Thanks
Some general thoughts on this example: Love seeing the bumpers and headlights still intact, heated seats are a great feature, and a driving video would be helpful if @seller has time/capacity.

The windshield chip has not been repaired. The appropriate remedy will be left to the new owner. I believe that the A/C simply needs a freon recharge to blow cold again.
$500 bid placed by @OriginalAndRare
Is the windshield chip filled in? If not, would you consider replacing using insurance?
