This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL reportedly remained with the original owning family until 2021 and now shows only 42,500 miles from new. The SL is finished in Signal Red (586) over Beige MB-Tex (175), and power is provided by a 3.8-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Extensive service in 2022 included a new timing chain tensioner/guide, water pump, transmission mount, steering damper, drive belt, A/C compressor, and new tires. 15″ Gullideckel wheels wear a silver finish and are mounted with new 205/65 Firestone Champion tires which were mounted in October 2022. The Carfax report shows a brake fluid flush in April 2022.
The cabin is trimmed in Beige MB-Tex (175) with color-matched door inserts and carpets. Burl wood veneers accent the dashboard and center console. The leather seats appear to be well preserved and no cracks are seen on the dash. Equipment includes automatic climate control, Becker radio, electrically adjustable side mirror, and power-operated windows.
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as a clock and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 42,500 miles with linear mileage updates documented on the Carfax report.
The 3.8L M116 V8 was rated at 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Extensive service in 2022 included a new timing chain tensioner/guide, oiil & filter change, new water pump, transmission mount, steering damper, drive belt, A/C compressor, and new tires.
