This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL first shows registration in Florida and later New Jersey before moving back to Florida in August 2022. Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) over Brown Brazil Leather (273), this SL is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 and paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes a brown soft top, removable paint-matched hardtop, air conditioning with automatic climate control, cruise control and 15” Gullideckel wheels. This 560SL is being offered for sale in Miami, Florida with just under 68k miles, extensive service history, original tool kit, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax and a clean Florida title.
The exterior of this SL is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) paint and features chrome trim along the beltline and both front and rear bumpers. Overall the paint presents in good condition and the seller notes only minor imperfections such as cracking on the hood and a small spot of rust on the passenger side fender. Included with the car is a removable paint-matched hardtop which features a heated rear window. The brown soft top is in good condition and was recently replaced in June 2022. This 560SL wears the original 15” Gullideckel wheels wrapped in Riken Raptor HR tires measuring 205/65 both front and rear with date codes from 2016. The wheels all appear in good condition with no scratches or curb rash visible. The car received new front and rear brake rotors in June 2022, along with new brake lines and shocks on all four corners in September 2022.
The cabin is upholstered in Brown Brazil Leather (273) which covers the seats, door panels and dashboard. The center console is trimmed in burl wood trim where controls are mounted for the automatic climate control along with the upgraded Pioneer stereo in place of the original Becker radio. Recent service included a rebuild of the heater along with replacement of the AC compressor and blower motor. Additional features include a power antenna, folding armrest, power adjustable passenger side mirror and alarm system. Only minor wear is noted on the arm rest and small cracks are noted in the dash with the interior otherwise showing well.
A black leather steering wheel frames the VDO gauges which include a 170-mph speedometer, and tachometer with an analogue clock, along with a combination gauge for fuel level, instant economy, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The odometer currently reads 67,820 miles and controls are mounted to the steering column for the operation of the automatic cruise control.
The 560SL is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 which is rated at 227 horsepower and 279lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. This SL comes with extensive documented service history, much of which occurring recently. Recent service includes new valve cover gaskets, front and rear brake hoses, all four brake rotors, front and rear shock absorbers, door lock cylinder and actuator, new battery and spark plug wires.
