This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300E was ordered for the Canadian market and first shows registration in Ontario in January 1988. The current owner acquired the car in 2022 and has added approximately 1,200 of the 86,200 kilometers (53k miles) shown. Finished in Diamond Blue Metallic (355) over Blue MB-Tex (172), power is provided by a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power sliding and tilting sunroof, power-adjustable front seats with driver-side memory, automatic climate control, cruise control, headlamp washers and wipers, and a Becker cassette stereo. Service in 2026 included an oil and filter change, new front brake rotors and pads, a brake fluid flush, and replacement of multiple ignition components. This 300E is now offered in Windsor, Ontario with three keys, books, floor mats, tools, a first-aid kit, current-ownership service records, a Carfax report noting mileage inconsistencies, and clean Ontario registration in the owner’s name.
The exterior is finished in Diamond Blue Metallic (355) with contrasting bumpers, black protective side moldings, and chrome trim around the windows and grille. Equipment includes a power sliding and tilting steel sunroof, headlamp washers and wipers, front fog lamps, a power antenna, and a heated rear window. No rust or previous paintwork is reported by the seller. Small chips and scratches are shown in the gallery, along with close-ups of the body panels and trim.
Factory 15-inch Gullideckel alloy wheels wear Michelin MXV4 tires measuring 195/65 at all four corners. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with ABS. The front brake rotors and pads were replaced in 2026, and a brake fluid flush was performed by Overseas Motors Mercedes-Benz in Windsor. A spare wheel and tire are stored beneath the trunk floor.
The cabin is upholstered in Blue MB-Tex (172) with matching door panels, carpeting, and dashboard. Zebrano wood trim accents the center stack and console. Both front seats feature power adjustment, with memory settings for the driver. Additional equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, a power-adjustable steering column, a Becker Mexico Grand Prix cassette stereo, a folding front armrest, and rear headrests.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a metric instrument cluster with a speedometer, tachometer, analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. An outside-temperature display is positioned beneath the instruments. The seller reports an odometer reading of approximately 86,200 kilometers, equivalent to approximately 53,600 miles, with approximately 1,200 kilometers added under current ownership. The Carfax contains conflicting historical mileage entries detailed below.
The naturally aspirated 3.0-liter M103 inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Service in 2026 included the annual oil and filter change, along with replacement of the spark plugs, ignition wires, ignition coil, distributor rotor, distributor cap, and associated seal. The Carfax also documents replacement of the water pump, water-pump gasket, and serpentine belt, along with a coolant flush and transmission fluid service, in 2024. Service records from current ownership accompany the car, while records from previous ownership are unavailable. Underbody photographs are provided in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows Ontario history beginning in January 1988, eight service history records, and no reported accidents or damage. A mileage inconsistency is flagged in June 2017, when 79,624 kilometers were recorded following an August 2015 entry of 79,999 kilometers. The sale includes three keys, books, floor mats, tools, a first-aid kit, current-ownership service records, and clean Ontario registration in the owner’s name.
Diamond Blue over Blue MB-Tex is a particularly fitting combination for an early W124. The narrow side moldings, Gullideckel wheels, and upright grille give these pre-facelift cars a distinctly different character from their later counterparts, while the blue cabin provides a welcome reminder that Mercedes once offered plenty of alternatives to black and beige. Add the steel sunroof and Becker cassette deck, and the appeal is easy to understand. Recent attention to the ignition system and brakes is useful groundwork for the next owner, with cooling-system and transmission service also appearing in the history. The mileage discrepancies deserve consideration, but the photographs and current-ownership records provide more to assess than an odometer figure alone. For someone drawn to the original W124 design, this Canadian-market 300E offers an appealing specification and a familiar combination of straight-six power, comfort, and restrained styling.

Beautiful car, a few questions for you: 1. Has the head gasket ever been replaced, and are there any current oil leaks or seepage? 2. Does the A/C blow cold, and does the climate control work properly from all vents? 3. How does the transmission shift when cold? Any delayed engagement, slipping, or hard shifts? 4. Is there any rust underneath, especially around the jack points, rockers, battery tray, floor pans, or suspension mounting points? 5. Can you provide more information on the Carfax mileage discrepancy and possibly post a cold-start video?
