This 1999 Mercedes-Benz S500 was sold new in New Jersey and relocated to California in 2000 where it has remained ever since. Finished in Black (040) over Black Leather (261), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power sliding glass sunroof, Xenon headlamps, remote central locking, soft-close doors, self-leveling rear suspension, heated and power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and a Bose audio system. The rear self-leveling shocks were replaced in 2023 along with window regulators and a new battery. The car was acquired by the current owner in July 2025 on The MB Market who has added 1,700 of the total 71k miles. This 1999 S500 is now offered for sale by the owner along with the help of a friend in Los Angeles, California with a clean Carfax report and a clean Montana title.
The long-wheelbase body is finished in Black (040) and exterior equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, Xenon HID headlamps with heated washers and wipers, front fog lamps, heated power door mirrors, remote central locking and soft close doors. Minor scratches are visible on the body with no signs of rust or damage and no accidents shown on the Carfax report.
Authentic 18" AMG Aero II monoblock wheels are fitted and come wrapped in a set of Continental Extreme Contact tires. The self-leveling rear suspension maintains a constant rear ride height regardless of cargo load.
The cabin is upholstered Black Leather (261) with Burl Walnut wood trim lining the center console, dash and door panels. Both front seats are heated with 14-way power adjustability. Interior appointments include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a power adjustable steering column, heated outboard rear seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a Bose audio system. The front passenger seat seam shows some separation in the center as seen in photos. The passenger side window regulators were replaced in 2023.
A leather steering wheel fronts analog instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer currently shows just under 71k miles, approximately 1,700 of which have been added by the current owner.
This W140 is powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC M119 V8 which is rated for 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed 722.6 automatic transmission. Maintenance performed in 2023 includes new self-leveling shocks in the rear and a new battery. An oil and filter change was reportedly perfomed at the beginning of the year.
The Carfax report shows first registration reported in New Jersey in 1999 followed by California beginning in 2000. Linear mileage updates are shown with no accidents or damage reports present. This 1999 S500 is now offered for sale in Los Angeles, California with a clean Carfax report and a clean Montana title.

Thanks for the kind words. I’m currently traveling, so I’m not able to take new driving or startup videos at the moment. The car starts easily, drives smoothly, and performs exactly as it should based on my experience with it.$16,390 bid placed by @RDGuidry
Good morning! Why no videos yet? Cold start, instrument cluster, and driving. Thanks.Hi, looks like a nice example. Possible to get some driving and start up videos?$16,140 bid placed by @Commandernsx

@Padesha Thanks for the message. MB Market doesn’t allow us to exchange contact info publicly during the auction, but I’m happy to arrange a showing in Los Angeles. Just click the “Contact Seller” button on the listing page and send me a direct message there — we can coordinate a time to meet. Looking forward to connecting.@amgmb I’m in LA. Can you show me the car? First time in this platform. Don’t know how to reach you to charge contact details.$11,140 bid placed by @Commandernsx

Honestly the w140...is the #1 car everyone in their lifetime should be able to drive. It's timeless elegance without being too obnoxious. While demanding pure awe while parked and simply enjoying the drive. https://youtu.be/wpfbjDusxI0?si=nDgZ_Fc05XbWNIXL Find me on reddit #juanmorecar #RodgerCartagena$8,000 bid placed by @Commandernsx

@Whester • Overall Functionality: Yes — everything is functioning as it should to the best of my knowledge. No warning lights, and all major systems (SLS, A/C, transmission, windows, sunroof, soft-close doors/trunk, etc.) are operating properly. • Maintenance Records: There are no physical maintenance records included with the car. However, the car has clearly been well cared for, and several items (including the rear SLS struts) were addressed by the previous owner. • Soft-Close Doors & Trunk: All four soft-close doors and the soft-close trunk are working properly. I’ll post videos shortly so bidders can see them in action. If there’s anything else you’d like checked or photographed, just let me know — happy to provide it.@Ilovebigtoys • Suspension (SLS): This car is equipped with SLS (Self-Leveling Suspension) front and rear, and it does not have ADS. The system is functioning properly — no leaks, no sagging, and no warning messages. The rear SLS struts were replaced by the previous owner, which is a major service item already handled. I don’t have documentation confirming whether the fronts were ever replaced, but there are no current issues with ride height, leveling, or ride quality. • Exhaust: The exhaust is factory stock with no aftermarket or modified sections. • Transmission: The transmission shifts smoothly with no slipping, harsh shifts, or hesitation. • A/C: A/C blows cold and operates normally with no intermittent issues. • Tires (Date Codes & Tread): The tires are 2021 date codes, with good tread remaining and even wear. Happy to answer anything else or provide more photos/videos if needed.@mbz2000 Thanks for the question. I can see why you thought that — a black W140 on AMG Monoblocks with a similar stance will definitely give off the same look.@animal57 Thanks for the question. The current owner recently purchased a 1995 S-Class as the base for a Gen 1 AMG build he’s planning. This 1999 S500 is a Gen 2 W140, so it’s not the correct chassis for what he wants to do. Once the right ’95 car became available, he no longer needed this one. There were no issues with the car that prompted the sale — it just wasn’t the right platform for his build direction. Happy to answer anything else.$5,500 bid placed by @merlinautogroup
This car has hydraulic shocks front and rear to my knowledge Any problems with the ARC? Has the shocks been replaced on the front? Also, is the exhaust stock or has any of the exhaust been replaced/upgraded? Does the transmission shift smoothly? Any problems with the a/c? Please let me know the date code on the tires. How much thread is left?Wait a sec I had to do a double take. Is a clone of the S500 VIN# WDBGA51G7XA431863 that Blakely sold this past month? The stance is similarHi, any comment why the current owner wants to resell this car after he has bought it here 5 months ago? It's very unusual to see the same car within such a short time on the same marketplace. Thks.$5,250 bid placed by @cory
Is everything functioning as it should? Do you have any maintenance records and could you post pics of the soft close doors and trunk?$5,000 bid placed by @Bankrep40
Wow. Black on black as well. No way I'll be able to afford this one. What a gem.$4,000 bid placed by @cory
