Beautiful ride! My black 2002 430 with the AMG styling, it doesn't hold a candle to this. The two tone seats and rear spoiler are a great look. Was never a soft top sort, and was looking at parting with mine. Frankly I've grown fond of the power and handling these provide. As mentioned, the M113 / 722.6 pairing makes it easy to work on. Limited electroncs are a plus as well. Only drawback is the limited room in the rear seats. Kids maybe, full size adults will need the seats moved quite a bit forward. Not bidding here, but curious to see what the market will say on this one. Either way, someone will be very happy.
Zebrano wood is in incredible condition if it's original. The engine bay still has the factory anodized cladding. Amazing for the mileage. I had the twin brother of this, and I thought it was in nice shape. This is remarkable.
Someone is going ask, so it might as well be me. Front right bumper. At first I thought it was a flag mast for a diplomat of old. Maybe an antennae?
@MBZW202, I'll check with the website team tomorrow and see what i can do.
@MBZW202, I have a high mileage 2006 e350 4matic that probably isnt a candidate for auction, but has good bones. Hit the contact seller button.
MBZW202...it did fall through. No reply from winner. Reached out to the next high bidder and its going to the east coast. Too bad, it would have been nice to kept it local, but the 4matic may be of more use out there. Thanks for checking in.
Yes, but no real conversation. Keep my email handy.
@Smyth, you may be in luck. No word from the buyer.
@gsxr, thats good info, being somewhat unfamiliar with the early 4matics as well. Secondly, all your comments on the varios platforms are informative and respected. Cheers
@Smyth...im still scratching my head. I saw an 89 non 4matic with higher mileage go for 7k. If i didnt need the room, there would be no way I'd let go for what i did. Like I said, deal of the century.
Ok friends, the reserve is lifted. Someone is getting the deal of the century here.
@124guy, I was surprised when I first saw it. Never had seen a 4matic 124 until then. As you mentioned., it would serve someone well who sees inclement weather. With the heavy rain here last month, it felt solid as a rock on the freeway.
@MBZW202, water pump was on the list when doing the head. Couldn't get the inverted pulley off without the belt attached, so i passed in essence of time. Factory pump comes with the car. Flex discs were inspected and deemed worthy. Factory replacement front disc comes with car. New front rotors and pads. New rear pads come with car. Fluid was flushed. Transmission filter and exchange were both performed. Frankly, i could have skipped the front axle boots because they are a PITA, but as mentioned, my intention was to drive the car. Other than some cosmetic flaws, I would be hard pressed to think of anything on the mechanical side that needs attention.
Thanks for checking out my wonderful example of the timeless and indestructible W124. It didnt come to me with much in regards to maintenance records. I did some digging and it appears to have been mostly owned by an Apple executive up in San Jose. It was subsequently relocated to Southern California with two tltle changes. The most recent owner decided to part ways with it after getting a quote on a head gasket and front axle boots. My original intent was to make this my daily driver. With that in mind, it seemed wise to replace numerous parts while the top end was removed. Most items weren't miles related, but more due to age. All obvious seals, hoses and gaskets were refreshed. Many parts were fine, but as a pilot, preventive maintenance coexists with peace of mind. Possible future service might be the fuel filter, pump and accumulator. A replacement accumulator is included. Also, the car came with a non-op aftermarket radio. I purchased a refurbished Becker unit but procrastinated in getting it hooked up. Some quick compression numbers of before and after the replacing the cylinder head... Prior: 171,169, 157, 157, 165, 155 After: 181, 178, 175, 176, 178, 180 So needless to say, the engine is rock solid and the transmission shifts factory smooth. Aside from from the few flaws as mentioned and seen in the photos, the car is in superior condition. My only real complaint is the pitting on the inside of chrome rims. I bought relatively new anodized as a replacement and can come with the car if desired. It would be nice to see this go somewhere where the 4matic would be of practical use. Bid with confidence and I'll answer questions as best I can. Cheers.
Thanks to all for being here. Its bittersweet letting her go. I might be tempted to list my 98 e430 Sport based on today. Cheers to all.
Hey friends, its beginning to look like the high bidder is taking the car home. Good luck !
I thought of getting it smogged to confirm for a California buyer, but im confident it will be fine. Furthermore, i didnt want to give the state any more of my hard earned money just because they charge double for testing pre 2000 cars...
@Slb0151, cant imagine any sort of issue. Tires have 95% tread on them, and with the ASR, you should in fine shape. Maybe, some alcohol in the washer fluid for Michigan temps...
...drove it to work this morning and gave it few WOT bursts. Really going to miss this car.
Yes, everything works and zero leaks. One if the cleanest engine bay and undercarriage -140k diesels you'll see.
@Kuyaned, no, the accident was unfortunate timing. Haven't had an accident or citation in over 30yrs. With that said, my use of the car has become limited with moving Utah to San Diego. This car needs to be driven. Thats what diesels are made for. In my humble opinion, the car could make a 10k mile trip without turning off the engine.
@Sperillo, yes, there is a crease there. Its approx 3-5mm in depth. I'll have closer photo loaded asap.
@Sperillo, its possible. It has typical minor dings and pitting that you would expect with 24yrs. Far from perfect from a cosmetic perspective, but I'll stand the mechanicsl aspects 100%. I have an early morning tomorrow, so it might not be until the evening for a close up of what what your looking at. Cheers.
@Sperillo, oil pan staining was confirmed as dirt. Took a few shots of before and after. Should upload by tomorrow. Cheers
@Sperillo, not entirely sure on the discoloration. My guess its from dirt that accumulated in the pan. Its been raining a lot here and the pan may have held some dirty water. Which answers your second question. Yes, it has the belly pan. I pulled it off for pictures. Ill pull the pan off tomorrow and confirm with a new photo if needed.
I bought shocks and flex discs last year in anticipation of replacement. After inspection of both, they are still in exellent condition. Same with the shocks. Its possible they were replaced at some point. The reason there is only one disc is because I used one on my 98 E430
And to your point @Sperillo, these pumps are indeed indestructible...that is until you service them yourself and mess with the delivery valves. If you remove any of them either on purpose or by accident....you're destined to removing the whole pump and having it recalibrated. Also, there is little to no rust anywhere. In particular, the wheel wells, under the rubber door seals and the infamous spring perches. Lastly, there was a mn erroneous bid placed yesterday for $8300 that will hopefully be removed soon. Cheers
Welcome to the auction of my well maintained E300. Its been a gut wrenching decision to let it go. I bought it with the intention of being my daily driver from St. George, Utah to Las Vegas. Family matters have me in San Diego and my use of the car has becone limited. Hopefully, it's apparent that I performed a fair amount of preventative maintenance. Much of it was not so much as mileage, but age related. As a pilot, you dont wait for things to fail. Obviously it had recent front end damage. It was a creeping 3-5mph, bumper encounter on a right turn from a stop. I was looking for oncoming traffic when the car in front made a sudden stop. It cracked the right headlight plastic mounts, cracked the bumper and dinged the fender. The repair estimate was mindboggling. Other than the headight (which they quoted $850) and the bumper, they wanted to replace the fender, both fog lights, side markers and the wheel well lining. Nothing touched behind the headight and bumper. When I questioned the estimate, they decined to work on it. Its a sad commentary on the insurance biz. With that said, the car is mechanically dialed in with zero leaks and rust- which can be the Achilles heal on the w210s. Also, the dash cracks have driven me to insanity. Ive tried every product out there to repair them and frankly gave up. As noted, the fuel injection pump was removed and completely serviced and calibrated at a Bosch service center. Franky, it was fine until I started to replace the delivery vave seals while I was still recovering from a serious bout with Covid. Used a magnet, not a pick tool. I'll leave it at that. With most of the top end disassembled, it was an opportune time to replace numerous fuel lines, hoses, orings and gaskets. I had planned on injector nozzles, engine mounts and shocks, but ran out of time. Those items will come with the car as well as numerous other spare parts. I also had planned on a re-spray of the front bumper and lower hood because of road pitting, but some time doing a proper paint correction with the single stage paint of the era would make it sparkle. In closing, I've always been a W126 and 124 diesel guy, and really miss my 91 350sd. It took a while to get cozy with the radical change with the w210, but the power from the OM606 is remarkable and considered one of Mercedes milestone engines. 28-30 around town and 30+ on the highway. You might squeeze out 35 keeping it at 65, but this car purrs at 75-80. While maybe not in the collectable realm yet, these are getting harder to find, Thanks for the interest and I'll respond to questions as promptly as possible.
I've always been a w126 and w210 diesel guy, but the interior and upgraded suspension on the w211 makes me want to get involved here. Now i have decide if its worth shipping across the continent.
Wow, even have the previous owner involved here. Nice! Thanks for the timely response.
Looks pretty nice and interesting color combo. Almost zero rust, which leads me to believe it's not originally from Illinois. The valve cover still has factory finish! A couple quick questions. Why the quick turnaround on selling. There was mention of extensive fuel system work. Any specifics and when would be helpful. Lastly, looks like some weeping around left front suspension/frame. Have you had the splash cover off to see if there are any leaks? If not, maybe a couple photos. I told my family no more 124s, but I really like this one. Thanks in advance.
Wish I lived closer to Florida. Pierre is the real deal.
@smarcilese, was there a particular reason for replacing the prechambers? Were they leaking? Not a fun job. Guide rod service is a huge bonus on the 603.970 engine Great car
I can't believe it...its back again! With some significant work done. Wow, I'm dying here. My wife put the hammer down on this last go around...now I dont have a wife. I'm almost done with some injection pump and suspension work on a '99 E300td, now this happens. I just parted with a solid W124 and promised to keep the fleet down to a minimum. I still regret selling my graphite grey one like this and for those who haven't driven one of these...your missing a true Mercedes experience. At least I have 12 days to make a decision.
Quite a flurry at the end. Thanks to all who showed interest. Looks like I need to locate the title and kiss my gem goodbye. Cheers
Yes, it came without the badge. Should have paid more attention to proper placement. Heat gun and gentle prying for easy removal
I couldn't have said it any better @1600Speciale_INNIT. My intent was to restore it to dependable and long lasting condition. Not up to mint, but clean. Was hoping to pass it on the kids. It's been my weekly driver and I still get looks from someone in a newer E63 with 500hp. Super tough decision to let her go. I'm confident she'll find a great home. Cheers and best wishes to all in the closing hours.
@nrajput90, Videos were a little sub par. New videos will be taken this evening. Thanks for noticing.
Good morning friends. This was a tough decision to let this go. I bought it as a temporary means while my 99 turbo diesel was down. After becoming more familiar with the nuances of KE-JET fuel systems, and bringing the car back to a true Mercedes experience, I became very fond of what I had. You won't compete with a Tesla off the line, but on the road, it's a joy to drive. Other than a few tricky maintenance items, such as the driver side engine mount, most repairs were done by me. From my pilot background, many of them as preventative measures or "while I'm in there" sort of thinking. As seen in the photos, a ton of new and extra parts...some moderately spendy. I will check the site a few times a day and respond to questions as quickly and accurately as possible. Cheers
Stolen for 7750. I had to beg my wife to get involved. Told her this one is 10 times better than the one I had for 10yrs of solid driving. Thought the reserve would have been much higher. Congrats @ehabviper. Super jealous.
Damn... . I've been looking to replace my SDL that I let go due to space and jumped on a 99 E300d last week. The 606 engine is real step up but I having a hard time getting cozy with the styling. The 126 is by far the pinnacle of engineering and stlyle. I want this ride so bad, but the timing is off. Having Pierre sorting this beauty is a HUGE bonus. Rest assured it has a long life ahead of it. Buy with confidence...be curious how this ends up.
