This 2000 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was purchased new in Miami, FL to the original owner before being subsequently sold as a Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned example in January 2005. This R129 is finished in Black (040) over Black Nappa Leather (231) and power is provided by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated black soft top, a color-matched hardtop, xenon headlights, automatic climate control, seat position memory, burl wood trim, and heated seats. The most recent service in June 2021 included new valve cover gaskets, mass airflow sensor, air filters, fuel filter, front brake pads, rotors, a brake fluid flush, upper shock mounts, inner and outer tie rods, and more. This SL500 now presents 58,960 miles and is offered by the seller with manufacturer’s literature, two keys, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.

The body is finished in Black (040) and features a power-operated black soft top as well as a color-matched hardtop. Additional equipment includes fog lights, heated side mirrors, and optional xenon headlights. The Carfax report indicates no prior damage and no signs of rust are present on the body or undercarriage. The fabric soft top was reportedly replaced under previous ownership approximately 5 years ago along with the top cylinders that control the operation of both the soft top and hardtop.

Factory Mercedes W203 seven-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with matching Michelin MXM4 tires measuring 245/45/17 all around. Within the last three months both front tires were replaced and a four-wheel alignment performed. Additional maintenance performed recently includes new upper shock mounts, inner and outer tie rods, a brake fluid flush, and new front rotors and pads.

The cabin is upholstered in Black Nappa Leather (231) with burl wood accents on the center console and doors. Amenities include power-adjustable heated seats with position memory, automatic climate control, a factory head unit, cruise control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The headliner on the hardtop is shown to be in nice condition along with the soft top as well. The automatic retracting roll bar is also trimmed in Black leather and still functions as designed.

A four-spoke airbag steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 58,960 miles and there are no warning lights illuminated.

The 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine is factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. In June 2021 the car received new valve cover gaskets, a mass airflow sensor, air filters, fuel filter, and hood insulation pad.

The R129 is quickly growing in popularity in the classic car market as the next SL to own. The R107 market has calmed down significantly and the focus has now turned to some of the 90's Sacco-era designs which have stood the test of time. This facelift example comes well-optioned and features solid maintenance records which should provide trouble-free ownership for the next owner. Xenon headlights are an underrated option on R129's as they're both functional and provide a cleaner, more modern appearance.
