This 2001 Mercedes-Benz ML58 BRABUS began life as a ML430 and underwent modification by BRABUS North America from 2001-2003. Finished in Black (040) over Saffron Leather (264), power is provided by a bored and stroked 5.8-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels through a two-speed transfer case. Other BRABUS modifications include body and trim accents, lighting, 20" wheels, exhaust, interior, and more. In preparation for the sale, this ML received new shifter bushings, an AC service, and an oil and filter change. This ML58 now has just under 78k miles and is offered out of a private collection with partial service records, a window sticker, books and manuals, a clean Carfax report, and a Minnesota title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features a front brush bar, black roof rails, BRABUS front and rear bumper covers, fender flares, extended side steps, rear spoiler, and BRABUS badges. Quad BRABUS-stamped exhaust outlets are seen exiting the rear. The headlights fitted are from a face-lifted W163 and the rear features smoked LED units. Additional equipment includes remote central locking, a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, power-adjustable heated door mirrors and tinted glass. The paint is reportedly in great condition with detailed photos provided in the gallery and no accidents or damage reported to the Carfax.
The leather and wood steering wheel frames a 180-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Digital instrumentation consists of an outside temperature sensor, a digital clock, a trip meter and a digital odometer which currently shows just under 78k miles.
This ML is powered by a 5.8-liter M113 V8 which is reported to produce 400 horsepower and 427 lb-ft of torque. BRABUS reworked the engine with a custom crankshaft, pistons, and connecting rods. Additional engine modifications are said to include ported and polished cylinder heads with revised camshafts and larger valves as well as a full exhaust system and custom tune. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission which can be shifted manually. A major service less than 500 miles ago in 2019 totalled over $8k and included a flushing of the brake fluid, differential, transfer case, transmission fluid, and an oil change along with new front brake pads and rotors, lower ball joints, serpentine belt, valve cover gaskets, and engine air filter. In preparation for the sale, the seller performed a fresh oil service, installed new shifter bushings, and performed an AC service.
The engine bay features a carbon fiber cover with the BRABUS engine builder plaque and red valve covers. Underbody photos are viewable in the gallery along with the partial service records included. The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates from new with no accidents or damage reported and the most recent service entry on October 2, 2025.
With nearly five decades of experience, BRABUS has become known world-wide for its extensive performance and visual modifications to Mercedes-Benz cars along with various other German brands. When BRABUS got their hands on the W163, they were able to increase horsepower and torque into the 400's and reach the full potential of the naturally aspirated M113. In addition, BRABUS offered plenty of other aftermarket equipment which this ML received including its iconic multi-piece Monoblock wheels, upgraded ML55 brakes, beefed up suspension, interior and exterior trim, and a quad-tip exhaust. The deep engine modifications from BRABUS in the late ‘90s and early 00's is definitely cooler than the more modern turbo cars where absurd teutonic engineering and metal work has been replaced by boffins and software tuning. The rarity of this ML58 is in a league of its own. Stumbling across another won't happen by chance and rarely does one trade from one collector to another. Yet here we are, offering the rare opportunity to do just that. This 77k-mile example shows extremely well both inside and out, and is sure to stand out from the crowd and sprint miles ahead of anyone who thinks otherwise. This is more than just a car, it's a piece of Mercedes-Benz tuning history from BRABUS with precision engine work and interior craftsmanship that still outshines new cars today.
