The four-spoke Sport wood and leather wrapped steering wheel sits in front of a chrome-ringed gauge cluster displaying a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and additional readouts for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 56k original miles. A digital clock and outside temperature gauge are also present.
The 3.2-liter M112 V6 powerplant is rated at 215-hp and 229 lb-ft of torque from the factory. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. Recent maintenance includes an oil and filter change, a new hood strut, and two new rear tires.
The provided Carfax report shows linear mileage updates and no accidents or other damage along with 16 service history records. This SLK 320 Sport is now offered by the selling dealer out of Atlanta, Georgia with 56k miles on the odometer.
At the peak of the 90's roadster movement, Mercedes-Benz made a strong statement with the first generation SLK. By comparison to the SL (R129 at the time), the SLK was nimble, light on its feet, and loved living high in the revs. The throaty M112 sounded great at peak power and encouraged more throttle the harder the SLK was pushed through corners. As we've seen with this seller previously, it's rare and refreshing to find an R170 as nicely kept as this one but moreover it's good to see a dealer repeatedly present clean, well-sorted examples. Surely this well-loved roadster will end up providing years of drop-top delight for its next enthusiast owner.
