This 2002 Mercedes-Benz CL500 was first registered in New York and remained registered in the state through the seller’s acquisition in June 2021. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Gray (268) leather, power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Service performed by the seller includes replacement of the valve cover gasket, tires, and lower control arms along with fluid changes. Equipment includes 18” AMG wheels, xenon headlights, a sunroof, Active Body Control suspension, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electric rear window shade, COMAND infotainment with navigation, an aftermarket radar detector, an aftermarket rearview mirror with a back-up camera display, and a Bose audio system. This CL500 has 56k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, two remote keys, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U) and features xenon headlights, a sunroof, frameless side windows, power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and dual exhaust outlets. The rear bumper cover was reportedly repainted under current ownership and a ceramic coating is said to have been applied to the body. The seller notes the front corner moldings show blemishes, which can be seen in the photo gallery below.
The 18” AMG wheels have been refinished in gunmetal gray and wear 245/40 front and 275/45 rear General G-Max RS tires that were mounted in December 2021. The hydraulic fluid for the Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system was changed at the same time and the lower control arms were also replaced. An alignment was performed in March 2022.
The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in Gray leather (268), a two-tone leather-wrapped dashboard, and burled walnut wood trim accents on the center console, doors, and steering wheel. Equipment includes heated and 14-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electric rear window shade, COMAND infotainment with navigation, an aftermarket radar detector, a Jansite rearview mirror with an integrated back-up camera display, and a Bose audio system connected to a trunk-mounted CD changer. The glovebox has been repaired, and the seller states the driver-side door lock was replaced.
The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The center infortainment screen and digital clock and outside temperature guage are fully functional with all working pixels. The digital odometer indicates 56k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. The valve cover gasket was replaced and an oil change was performed in December 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with recent service records and two remote keys.

Very nicely presented CL500. I've always had a soft spot for these, GLWA!

@Aflaks I will have to check the VMI and let you know. I never had any leaks. Not sure if the previous owner did it.
Any idea if the rear main seal was ever replaced?
@TheMarvelousOne yes, that’s correct. I have the original set should the buyer request it.
The tailights were updated to newer 03-06 tailights, correct?

“ Having Carfax and VMI reports is good enough for me. I’m sure there are no odometer issues or rollbacks. Seller, thanks for providing”

It looks MB Market has to upload them. They should be visible within minutes.
Ok
@Bolo80 I'm looking for the attachments but cannot locate.
@jradcliffe I appreciate your input and i’d like to see a screenshot of the “concerns” from that report. I’m not sure what type of clerical error happened but EpicVIN’s report is not accurate. Please check attached screenshots of full VMI report that supersedes any other report by Carfax, Epic VIN, etc. In 2014 and 2017 the car was still with it’s first owner and I don’t see why somebody that owned the car for 15 years and barely drove it 2000 miles/year, decides all of a sudden to roll back the odometer. Should I mention how complicated these vehicles are and how difficult would be to make that happen without leaving a trace?!!! I understand you not wanting to bid again but I’d like to keep everyone else informed. Please check the last 4 pictures I just attached.
Anyone like the full report send your email to me [email protected]. And it is not a baseless allegation. By the way Mercedes dealer and techs use Epic VIN
Due to its audacity I won’t even bother arguing. It’s been taken regularly to Mercedes dealers. Never heard of Epic VIN being so reliable except radclif’s comment.
@jradcliffe You cant make allegations like that with "If I recall" and not providing a copy of the report. Also, why is "EPIC VIN" supposed to be a more trusted source than Carfax? Which has already been provided? How, precisely, would the original owner (who had the car from new through 2018) roll back the odometer? And why? Did Rallye Motors of Long Island - the mercedes dealer where he regularly serviced the car from new - "roll back" the odometer for him? What the heck is EPIC VIN anyway? Do you work for them or something? haha I think you might want to re-evaluate your claims and think twice before stating them publicly.
@jradcliffe It's pretty tough to manipulate the digital odometers on these cars and is much more plausible that mileage was fat-fingered when input by admin at service. Which would make sense considering Carfax offers corrections for mistakes like that. I've never used "EPIC VIN" but knowing Carfax, I'm more inclined to think it's just clerical.
After I placed a bid I ran an EPIC VIN report on this car. It showed 2 likely odometer concerns, so I am no longer interested in this car. I caution that Carfax is not entirely accurate and depends on the reader making sense out of the information. The EPIC VIN report states that the Odometer Reading has 2 known mileage rollbacks. If I recall correctly it occurred in 2014 and again in 2017. If you are bidding on this car, be sure to get your own car report.
