This 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK500 Sport was originally sold by New Country Mercedes-Benz in Hartford, Connecticut in February 2005. Finished in Black (040) over Anthracite leather (831), power is provided by a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Features include the AMG Sport Package, Bi-Xenon headlamps with integrated heated washers, heated front seats, a multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rear and side view mirrors, and a power retractable rear sunshade. The current owner acquired the coupe in 2018 and has added approximately 24k miles under current ownership. This C209 now has just under 124k miles and is offered by the seller with the original window sticker, partial service records, two keys, manufacturer’s literature, a recent Carfax report, and a clean Rhode Island title.

The body is finished in Black (040) and features AMG-specific body work including sculpted bumpers, side skirts, and a chrome exhaust outlet. Exterior features include a power-operated sunroof, Bi-xenon headlights, rain sensing windshield wipers, and a lip spoiler. The seller notes minor scrapes along the rear bumper, normal rock chips on the hood and a door ding on the rear driver side quarter panel. All four windows can be rolled down revealing the pillarless coupe design as demonstrated in the gallery.

Factory five-spoke 17” AMG wheels are fitted wearing Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. The seller reports the rear tires were replaced within the last month and some road rash is visible on the wheels. Mercedes-Benz branded multi-piston calipers can be seen up front.

The cabin is upholstered in Anthracite leather (831) with original matching carpets front and rear along with burl wood trim accenting the dashboard and center console. Additional amenities include heated front seats with memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, a multi-disc CD player, and a power retractable rear sunshade. The rear seats can fold flat to allow for additional cargo room and through loading from the trunk.

The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, a multi-function display, and digital readouts for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer has just under 124k miles, approximately 24k of which were added by the seller.

The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter M113 V8 produced 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque and power is sent to the rear wheels through a 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission featuring Touch Shift capability. A total of 16 service history records are noted on the Carfax report and a new battery was installed in Spring 2021.

The Carfax report lists linear mileage updates since new and three minor damage reports to the rear of the car. This C209 is now offered with the original window sticker, partial service records, two keys, manufacturer’s literature, a recent Carfax report, and a clean Rhode Island title.

The MB Market Insights

On paper, the redesigned CLK (C/A209) for 2003 was much improved over the previous generation. Not only was the cockpit more spacious for both front and rear passengers, Mercedes was also able to increase body rigidity by 40%, lower drag coefficient, reduce lift, add additional safety features, and get to 60mph a hair quicker if you opted for the V8. The updated interior was truly a work of art and finding a true coupe that has a usable rear seat is not easy. The 5.0L M113 V8 was the perfect powerplant for the CLK providing ample passing power while still managing to be efficient and reliable. The AMG Sport package was a must have option as seen on this CLK500. The sculpted AMG body kit and wheels greatly improved the overall appearance. As the CL’s younger pillarless sibling, this CLK proves to be a very strong value buy on the market today.
